Crystalline silica (quartz CAS 14808-60-7; cristobalite CAS 14464-46-1) < 3%
Powders lower than 10 micron < 10%
Breathable crystalline silica < 0,3%

3 IDENTIFICATION OF DANGERS
No symbol of risk is required for the product in the EC.
The product has a low toxicity, bentonite may contain crystalline silica that, in its breathable form, is
classified as a cause of irreversible effects. A long exposure may cause a light eye irritation and damage
the respiratory system.

4 FIRST AID
Contact with the skin: wash with water and soap.
Contact with the eyes: wash with water.
Inhalation: go into the open air.

5 FIRE PREVENTION
Not flammable, there is no danger in the presence of a fire.

6 STEPS TO TAKE IN THE EVENT OF ACCIDENTAL LEAKAGE


Recover the product with mechanical media, put in clean containers and dispose of properly.

7 HANDLING AND STORAGE


Handling: it is suggested a suitable ventilation of the working area to eliminate risks of an
excessive dust exposure.
If a suitable ventilation is not possible, it is suggested to use a mask.
Storage: store the product at normal industrial conditions.

8 EXPOSURE CONTROL AND INDIVIDUAL PROTECTION


Crystalline silica in its breathable form (fraction lower than 10 micron) TLV-TWA: 0,4 mg/m3.
Respiratory protection: wear a mask.
Hand protection: none.
Eye protection: glasses.

10 STABILITY AND REACTIVITY


Dangerous reactions: none. In water is has a basic reaction.
Stable at normal usage conditions.

11 TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
The product is not listed in IARC, NTP or OSHA reports.

12 ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION
Dangerous effects towards the environment are not known.

13 DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS
The product should be disposed of in accordance with all the relevant regulations issued by the national
authorities of the country of utilization (DIR 91/156/CEE - 91/689/CEE - 98/62/CE).

14 TRANSPORTATION ADVICE
A.D.R. Regulations: the product is not regulated.

15 LABELLING INFORMATION
In application of the Italian Legislative Decree 14.3.2003 n. 65 “ Accomplishment of the 1999/45/CE and
2001/60/CE directives concerning classification, packaging and labelling of dangerous preparations”, the
product is not dangerous.

16 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) requires that operators in contact with crystalline
silica should be properly informed and trained.
Operational managers or Supervisors should periodically inform and remind all the operators of the
specific risks involved in the utilization of the product. The present chart has been drawn up by the
Technical Department of AEB on the basis of the most accurate and reliable information available to us
at the date of the last revision.
The information contained in the present chart refers to the indicated preparation only and may not be
valid if the product is used improperly or in combination with other products. Nothing of the present
chart must be construed as an express or implied guarantee. It remains the responsibility of the people
utilizing the product to establish how the present information must be applied and how to determine the
suitability of each product to their particular end.
