Title of Research work: An Astrological Study of INFERTILITY

SCOPE OF RESEARCH: AN ANALYTICAL ASTROLOGICAL STUDY OF

INFERTILITY FROM THE INDICATIONS IN A HOROSCOPE, SUBJECT TO THE
CANONS OF CLASSICAL TEXTS OF JYOTISHA AND SUGGESTING
ASTROLOGICAL REMEDIAL MEASURES IF POSSIBLE WITHIN ITS FRAME
WORK.

Chapter no: 1
Introduction
In this chapter, research student elaborated research methodology, after the introduction
of the subject of INFERTILITY. All matters concerning children are evaluated by the
assessment of 5th house of a horoscope.

To scrutinize primary filial happiness from a chart, one should inspect:

1) 5th house, its lord and occupants from Lagna

2) 5th house, its lord and occupants from the Moon
3) Position of Jupiter- significator of issues
4) 5th house and its occupants from Jupiter
5) 9th house from Lagna, its lord and occupants for females charts.

After an preliminary observation of matters related to children are assessed, technical

matters and mathematically manipulated sensitive points of a horoscope related to filial
bliss are analysed at the secondary stage. They are:
1) Beeja Sputa of a male chart
2) Kshetra Sputa of a female chart
3) Santana Thithi of a chart

1
4) Santana Trisphuta of a chart.
5) Study of Saptamansha (D/7) Charts
6) AS-3 and AS-9 (Aruda of 3rd and 9th from the Sun)
7) Nadi checking of charts of infertile couples

a) Primary Consideration- Jupiter, 5th house from Lagna, the Moon & Jupiter:

Chart no 1 (Female) 05-11-1979/ 06:03:00/78E08/20N24

Lagna Chart Navamsha Chart

Fifth house & Lord from Lagna: In chart no: 1, Fifth house is Aquarius occupied by
Ketu. Fifth lord is placed in 12th house in an Alpasutha Rasi. In Navamsha, Saturn is
with Ketu in Capricorn. Fifth house from the Moon is Leo, an Agni Tatwa Rasi and is
occupied by Jupiter and Rahu. The Sun is placed in its debilitated house in Libra. In
Navamsha the Sun is with Gulika and Mars. Santana Karaka Jupiter is an Agni Tatwa
Rasi with Rahu and hemmed between malefics. In Navamsha also Jupiter is with Rahu.
Fifth from Jupiter is unoccupied, but aspected by Jupiter.

Any relation of fifth house to an Agni Tatwa Rasi is not so very conducive for
reproductive process. Here fifth house from the Moon is an Agni Tatwa Rasi and the lord
is in its debilitated house. Ketu occupies fifth house from Lagna. Aspect to Ketu from
benign Jupiter is there, but Jupiter himself is polluted with Rahu. Mars as second and
seventh house (first rated Maraka) lord is aspecting fifth house without any redeeming
2
effects. Fifth house from Jupiter is unoccupied and unaspected which kindles some hopes
on filial matters. As a female chart, 9th house occupation of Gulika and Maandi is a
liability on filial matters. 12th house, ie 8th from 5th is occupied by Saturn, which is the
indicator of delay. As such in Primary scrutiny itself the chart is in doubt in terms of
infertility.

Chart no 2 (Male) 14-07-1974/11:01:00/78E08/20N24

Lagna Chart Navamsha Chart

Fifth house is Capricorn and its lord Saturn is placed with another eunuch Mercury (not
combust) and the Sun (12th house lord) in 10th house, Gemini. In Navamsha Saturn is
with Rahu and Maandi spoiling the chances of progeny primarily. Fifth house from the
Moon is an Agni Tatwa Rasi and the lord the Sun is placed in Gemini with Saturn and
Mercury. In Navamsha the Sun is Vargottama in Gemini Rasi. Santana Karaka Jupiter
is retrograde and is in Aquarius in Rasi and in Taurus in Navamsha. Fifth from Jupiter
is occupied by Saturn, Mercury and the Sun. From one side, influence of Agni Tatwa is
seen here from the Moon, on the other side, association of two eunuchs Grahas Mercury
and Saturn with the fifth lord from the Moon and fifth from Lagna completely puts this
chart under question on issues related to fifth house. Retrograde Santana Karaka Jupiter
is in 6th house in Aquarius Rasi. Fifth from Jupiter is again polluted with eunuch grahas

3
Saturn & Mercury. Moreover, when the above combination of eunuch Grahas with the
Sun is in fifth house from Jupiter completes the picture. Such a combination does not
give a rosy picture on filial matters. Perusing the chart on fertility purpose on the primary
consideration put in doubt.

Secondary Consideration: In this scrutiny technical sensitive points like Beeja/ Kshetra,
Santana Thithi, Karana and Santana Trisphuta are considered.

c) Study of Saptamansha (D/7) Divisional Charts for children

Maharishi Parashara has advised us to look for Saptamansha for children and grand
children vide:

South Indian Style Saptamansha Chart North Indian Style Saptamansha Chart
Saptamansha of Chart no:1

In Saptamansha chart, Saptamansha Lagna Lord Saturn occupies in 3rd house. Being this
a chart of a female, stress was on the Moon in D/7 Chart. The Moon is with Rahu and
Trines are occupied by the Sun and Venus.

d) Computation of AS3 and AS9:

Maharishi Jaimini advise us to determine Aruda Padas of third and ninth house from the
Lagna and the Sun. The Aruda Padas of third and ninth from the Sun (AS3 & AS9)
constitute the ability to sustain an atma (soul) in the form of sperm, ie, the sperm should
have life in them. 3rd house ruling copulation is vital in determining the person’s ability to
conceive, and if the Sun is placed in the 2/12/6/8 from AS3, it indicates a physical
obstruction in conceiving a child. This applies to both Males & Females.

The Aruda Padas of third and ninth from Lagna (A3&A9) constitute the physical ability
to procreate. If the sun is in the 2nd, 6th 8th and 12th houses from any of these Padas, the
same is damaged resulting in infertility. Similarly if Venus and Mercury conjoin these
Padas they produce infertility. If either of the two Padas is not damaged, child birth is

6
delayed and not denied. If the Padas from Lagna are afflicted a above medical attention is
required and the astrologer should not attempt remedial measures unnecessarily.

The principle involved is that the gestation period from conception to birth for human
beings is nine months. Hence the ninth house from the Sun sign and its seventh, ie third
house are the root signs. Aruda Padas of these signs is determined. The eighth houses
from these two Aruda Padas will determine the fertility of the Chart. Aruda of 3rd from
the Sun (AS3) and 9th from the Sun (AS9) were arrived as follows:

Summing up, the ASTROLOGICAL STUDY OF INFERTILITY from the indications of a

Horoscope is arranged by going step by step evaluating each point as described in the
canons of Vedanga Jyotisha, on finding out causes of infertility.

This study is arranged by selecting 224 infertile charts, in the following way

 Study and evaluation of 5th lord from Lagna, from the Moon
 Study of Santana Karaka Jupiter and fifth house and occupants from Jupiter.
 Computation of Beeja of male and Kshetra of female horoscopes and analysis of
these sensitive points with special reference to
a) These sensitive points and its trines.
b) Association of malefics to these points.

7
c) Sex (odd/even) Rasis in which they occupy
 Computation of Santana Thithi
a) To confirm whether to this thithi as coming as Chidra
Thithi and in inauspicious Karana
b) Thithi so getting whether is a Krishna Paksha thithi or not
 Computation of Santana Trisphuta
a) Santana Trisphuta going to 6th 8th 12th from Lagna,
b) Santana Trisphuta Nakshatra being in 3rd (Vipat) 5th
(Pratyari) or 7th (Vadha) from Janma Nakshatra
c) Occupation of Santana Trisphuta in 88th or 108th Quarter
from radical Moon
 Study of Saptamansha ( D/7) charts, on four main points
a) Lagna lord of D/7 charts in 6th or 8th of D/7 chart
b) Association of lagna lord of D/7 Chart with 6th or 8th lords of D/7 Chart.
c) Occupation of 6th/8th lord of D/7 chart in lagna
d) Occupation of Mercury/ Saturn in trines from D/7 Lagna.
e) Occupation of malefics along with or in the trines from the Moon in
female charts.
f) Disposition of Beeja & Kshetra in D/7 Charts.
 Computation and study of Aruda Pada from third (AS3) and Ninth (AS9) from
the Sun.
a) The Sun should not occupy 1-2-6-8-12 from AS3 /AS9
b) Venus and Mercury should not occupy 8th from these two Aruda Padas.

This researcher has tried to study, evaluate and scrutinize, analyze the charts to locate the
Astrological reasons for INFERTILITY and tabulated the results through analytical study
and discussed in detail in this thesis.

Infertility in Astrology
In this chapter the research student collected stanzas from classical texts on Astrology, on
Infertility, Adoption and children after adoption.

Researcher has quoted from:

1) Bruhat Parashara Hora Shastra

2) Bruhat Jatakam
3) Prashna Marga
4) Laghu Jatakam
5) Jataka Tatwam
6) Jataka Parijatha
7) Santana Deepika
8) Prashnanushtana Padhati

10) Phaladeepika
11) Jaimini Sutras
12) Sarvartha Chinthamani
13) Jatakalankar
14) Hora Sara
15) Prasava Chinthamani

After culling out stanzas for infertility from classical texts on Infertility, the researcher
has framed 26 rules to apply to charts to confirm infertility.

9
Chapter no: 3.1
Framing of Rules and application of them to Horoscopes

After a review of classical texts on Vedanga Jyotisha pertaining to infertility, Rules are
farmed to check infertility of a Horoscope. After framing rules, these rules will be applied
to 224 Charts under this research. If the rule applies to the chart, the chart is marked X in
the data sheet

1) 5th House and 5th lord from Lagna and the Moon (Cols 2, 3, 4&5)

Occupation of malefics (paapaga`h) in fifth house or with fifth lord either from lagna or from
the Moon marked as negative(X). Definition of a malefic is as per Bruhat Parashara
Hora Shastra.

Sage Parashara irrefutably define malefics Grahas as below:

ta~aak- SainaBaUpau~aa: XaINaondu rahu koxtava:|

k`Uxra: SaoYaga`h saaOmyaa: k`Uxr: k`Uxryautaao bauQa: ||1
Meaning: The Sun, Saturn, Mars, decreasing Moon, Rahu &Ketu are malefic, Mercury,
however is malefic, if he joins a malefic.

5th house from Lagna and the Moon are scrutinized for occupation of malefics (The Sun,
Mars, Mercury, Saturn, Rahu, Ketu, and Maandi & Gulika).

 If the Pakshabala of the Moon is low then it is also considered as malefic.

 The occupation of the lord in 6th, 8th and 12th houses then also the lord position is
marked as negative
 Occupation of 6th, 8th and 12th lords in 5th also marked as negative.
 Occupation of 5th lord in 4th is also included as negative, as 4th becomes the 12th
from the 5th house.
 If the house is empty or occupied by benefics, or by its lord then it is marked as
positive.

10
2) Jupiter and 5th house from it (Cols 6&7)

Position of Jupiter is marked as negative, if it is in combustion, debilitation or is placed

with malefics, or placed in 6th, 8th or 12th houses from Lagna. Retrograde Jupiter is not
included as negative, as classical texts do not support my view and observation. 5th house
from Jupiter is marked as negative, on the occupation of above mentioned malefics.

3) Kshetra Sputa and Beeja Sphuta (Cols 8&9)

Kshetra & Beeja Sphutas are marked as negative when the Sphutas are not in line with
the sex of the Rasis. (Beeja Sphuta should occupy odd Rasis in Rasi and Navamsha
Charts and Kshetra in even Rasis). If these points are located along with malefics and
occupation of malefics in 5th and 9th house also qualify them to be negative.

4) Santana Thithi (Col 10)

Santana Thithi is marked as negative, for Krishna Paksha Thithi and Chidra Thithies, (4-
6-8-9-12&14 Thithies of both pakshas) and for Vishti Karana when it is in Sukla Paksha
Thithies.

5) Santana Trisphuta (Col 11)

Santana Trisphuta is marked as negative in the following conditions.

 Santana Trisphuta is occupying 6th, 8th and 12th houses in the chart.
 If the Santana Trisphuta Nakshatra is Vipat, Pratyari and Vadha Nakshatra of
Janma Nakshatra, then it is marked as negative.

6) AS-3 and AS-9 (Col 12&13)

 Aruda of 3rd house and 9th house from the Sun is marked as negative when Venus
and/or Mercury occupy 8th house from them
 The Sun occupy 2nd, 6th, 8th or 12th house from AS-3 and AS-9, or the Sun is in
AS3 or AS9
7) Saptamansha Charts (Col 14)

In the following conditions the D/7 charts are marked as negative:

 If the disposition of Lagna lord of D/7 Charts is in 6th or 8th house in the chart
11
 Occupation of 6th/8th lord of D/7 Chart in Lagna
 Lagna Lord is positioned with 6th/8th lord in D/7 Chart
 Mercury or Saturn occupy the trines in D/7 Charts
 Beeja /Kshetra points in this D/7 chart are with malefics or the trines from them
are occupied by Mercury/Saturn.
 For female charts, if the Moon or its trine are occupied with malefics, the also it is
marked as negative.

1. Bruhat Parashara Hora Shastra 3:11

12
3.2) Application of Rules of Infertility to collected Sample Horoscopes

After completing the application of Rules to the sample charts, the first thing noticed was
the disposition of Beeja & Kshetra Sphutas in the charts. This aspect protrudes as
primary indicator of INFERTILITY in Jyotisha.99.11% of the charts responded as
negative n this aspect.

Out of 97 male sample charts, 96 (98.97%) charts responded as negative, either with
occupation of malefics with the points or malefic in trine to this point or occupation of
Beeja Sphutas in different set of sex of Rasis in Rasi and Navamsha charts. The only
exemption was chart no: 40. In this Chart in both Rasi & Navamsha Beeja Sphuta
occupies odd Rasis. This chart is discussed below:

13
3.3) Indication of Curses resulted in childlessness (Infertility)
The denial of offspring could be due to curses in the past birth. These have been
elaborately listed in the Bruhat Parashara Hora Shastra along with remedial measures.
Santana Deepika also mentions the reasons for curses and indications from a birth chart.
These include Sarpa Shapa (Curse of serpents), Brahma Shapa (curse of
priest/Astrologer), Pitru Shapa (Curse of mother or her lineage) Satru Shapa (Curse of
enemy).
Condition for Brahma Shapa is as under:

(a) Rahu in Pisces or Sagittarius: Rahu represents the curse of past birth and is hence
a karmic control Graha. In the signs of Jupiter it shows the curse due to a priest,
Judge or a good Astrologer etc.
(b) Association of Jupiter with or aspected by Mars and Saturn: Jupiter is debilitated
in Capricorn owned by Saturn and exaltation sign of Mars. These Grahas
aspecting can look it to the extent of denying (Mars) or delaying (Saturn) the
fruits of Jupiter (Children). Simultaneously the ninth should be in eighth to
confirm the curse. If this condition is not fulfilled, remedial measures will help
easily.
(c) Sun, Moon or Jupiter as Fifth lord, if placed in eighth with malefics: Jupiter, the
Karaka of fifth is called Brahmanaspati (the fruits of Brahma) and hence, the
satwik grahas Sun, Moon or Jupiter will represent Saints, Brahmins, and learned
men respectively whose placement in the eighth house (Curse) with malefics will
deny progeny.
(d) Jupiter in the fifth house conjoined or aspected by sixth Lord: The Sixth house is
a Maraka for children and association of its lord with Jupiter in the fifth house
(already causing loss/denial due to Karako Bhava Nasaya will constitute a curse
(Sixth house, anger, enmity) from a Brahmin (Jupiter).
In this manner the type of curse can be understood and suitable remedial measures should
be seen from the Bruhat Parashara Hora Shastra

14
Apart from Bruhat Parashara Hora Shastra, the researcher quoted from Sanatana Deepika
on:
1) Sarpa Shapa (Curses of Serpents)
2) Pitru Shapa (Curses of Father/fore fathers)
3) Satru Dosha
4) Deva Shapa
5) Matru Shapa
The researcher tried to elaborate quoting examples on such indications, from the charts,
which are under study.

3.4) Remedial Measures as per Classic Texts on Astrology

Among the classical writers of Astrology, the authors of Phaladeepika, Prashna Marga,
Prashnanushtana Padhati, Jatakadesha Marga and Jatakalankar seem to have
conducted serious research in infertility on remedial aspect of astrology. They have
exhaustively quoted reasons and remedial measures in their books respectively.

The researcher has quoted from Phaladeepika (Remedies for Sanatana thithi, position of
Grahas), Prashna Marga (for weakness of Beeja/Kshetra and on Santana Trsiphuta),
Prashnanushtana Padhati (for Santana Thithi & Karana), Jatakadesha (for Santana Thithi)
and Jatakalankar (For Grahas) in this chapter.

Data Collection, Data Analysis, Observations & interpretations
The researcher has been a consultant astrologer since 1980. During the last 30 plus years
of Astrological counseling, this researcher has got opportunity to interact with and to
collect more than 500 individual infertile charts. The selected sample consisted of
couples from all walks of life and from all communities of different socio-economic
milieu, and of course from all parts of our country. Even though in infertile charts with
foreign births are there in my collection, I did not include them in this study. After a
preliminary screening only 224 charts were selected for the purpose of research, which
remained infertile for at least 10 to 12 years after marriage and still remain so.

The researcher has included charts of 77 infertile couples (154 individuals) for the
purpose of research.

After collection of charts, after working out various points, Data tabulation of following
technical and statistical information was compiled. All collected information and worked
out special points, as detailed in Data Sheets are tabulated in the following pages.
Scholars of Vedic Astrology found out the following sensitive points to have a across
check on infertility.

All technical and sensitive points are worked as given the classical texts of Vedanga
Jyotisha. They are the ultimate responsible points on infertility, as per Vedanga Jyotisha.
Apart from these testified points, this researcher tried to analyze Tatwas of Rasis and
Grahas.

Nava Tara Relation between the depositor of 5th lord from Lagna & the Moon are studied
to enquire any relation with infertility. 7th and 8th house in a horoscope has distinct roles
for reproduction. These houses were also studied with respect to its occupants and
position and Tatwas. Mars and Venus also have their major influence in determining
infertility in individuals. Their roles also have been observed. Libra and Scorpio (7th and
8th House of Kaalapurusha) also were analyses and observed.

Summary

In this summary, the researcher has given his hypothesis on observation on his research
on infertility. After conducting the research on “ASTROLOGICAL STUDY OF
INFERTILITY”, this research student has made some observations and are summarized
below.
Retrograde Motion of Jupiter

1. In this research it is observed that retrograde Motion of Santana Karaka Jupiter

also affects Childlessness in couples. However this observation does not have
sanction of classical texts on Jyotisha. This research student never came across
such a reference in any of the classic texts on Jyotisha. There are subtle and
general references on retrograde movement of grahas in Chapter 5 of Saravali,
while discussing retrograde strength of Grahas. But specific reference to
retrograde motion of Jupiter is not there in classical texts. Baavaaqa- rntaakxr:
(Chapter 16:13) and jaatakx tatvama\ (Chapter 1-72) also discuss about retrograde
motion of Grahas. There are contradictory statements about the strength of
Grahas in retrograde motion in these texts.

Beeja and Kshetra Sphutas

2. Correct computation and mapping of Beeja and Kshetra Sphutas in a birth chart
is essential to ascertain infertility of a chart. Because during the course of study,
this research student has observed that, from the rules culled out after reviewing
literature on Jyotisha, the rule of Beeja and Kshetra Sphutas is found valid in
99.10% charts. Hence this rule should get eminence while evaluating infertility
of a birth chart. Once Beeja and Kshetra Sphutas are computed correctly and
mapped into Rasi, Navamsha and Saptamansha charts, it will be very easy to
confirm infertility to a great extent.

21
3. Occupation of these two sensitive points (Beeja and Kshetra Sputa) in different
sex (odd/even) of opposite set in D/1 and D/9 also has a say in the matter of
infertility.
4. In this study, it is observed that along with eunuch Grahas Saturn, Mercury
Gulika and Maandi and Ketu also has a definite say on infertility, if they occupy
either with Beeja/ Kshetra or in its trines.

Saptamansha Charts

1. It is certain that the occupation of the lord of lagna of Saptamansha in 6th or 8th
or occupation of 6th/8th lords in D/7 Lagna or Lagna lord is with 6th/8th lords in
D/7 charts in chart affects infertility. Any relation with Lagna Lord, 6th lord and
8th lord of D/7 Charts should be weighed with due care for filial bliss.
2. Occupation of malefics along with the Moon or in its trines in Saptamansha
Chart of female impairs fertility. Moon stands for child bearing capabilities and
malefic influence on Moon either by occupation with the Moon, and in trines in
D/7 Charts in the indication that the native’s child bearing capacity is in question
and needs remedial measures.
3. Occupation of Eunuchs Mercury and or Saturn in trines of Beeja / Kshetra in
D/7 charts affects fertility.

Role of Grahas & Bhavas

4. As per Maharishi Parashara’s Bruhat Parashara Hora Shastra @laIbaaO waO

saaOmya saaOrI || BPHS 3:16 || (Meaning: Mercury and Saturn are eunuchs).
Occupation of these eunuch grahas Saturn, Mercury and Gulika/Maandi either
with Beeja/Kshetra or in its trines increases the chances of infertility.

Gulika/Maandi

5. Association of Gulika/Maandi with agents connected with filial bliss may

hamper fertility.

22
6. Occupation of Gulika/Maandi in 12th house also must be judged carefully.
Gk/Md is more venomous than other malefics. 8th house is the 8th house from 5th
house. More over 12th house stands for bed pleasures. Gk/Md may hamper both
the matters.
7. Occupation of Gk/Md in 9th house, especially of females deserved to be analysed
cautiously. Gk/Md in 9th may hamper filial bliss in charts

Ketu

8. Mantreshwara has included Ketu also along with Mercury and Saturn as
eunuch vide Phaladeepika(2:27) @laIbaa: koxtaubauQaak-xjaa: SaiSatama:Sauk`xa: s~aIyaao ||
(Meaning; Ketu, Mercury and Saturn are eunuchs, Moon, Rahu and Venus are
females). In this study it is proved that Ketu also behaved like eunuch Graha in
filial matters.
9. Occupation of Ketu in 12th house should be given due weightage while
evaluating filial matters. In this research, this student has experienced that Ketu
behaved like a eunuch and hence may be considered at par with Saturn &
Mercury in filial matters.

Venus

10. Position of Venus in 8th should be carefully analyzed for fertility matters.
Erosion (Depletion) of matters related with Venus is indicated with such a
position. Association of Kama Trikona Lords with Venus tends the native to
deplete the physical resources, which may ruin reproductive potential of an
individual.

Mars

11. Occupation of Mars in 12th house should be given a thorough investigation in

determining infertility. 12th house is the 8th of the fifth house. 8th house
indications to 5th house largely matters here. In this research, it is observed that
about 28 infertility cases out of 224 with 12th house occupation of Mars. In this

23
28 cases 7 are in Sagittarius Rasi and 5 are in Cancer Rasi. 12th house Mars
should be dealt with care in fertility matters.

Libra & Scorpio Rasis

12. Occupation of the Sun, Mars, Venus and Gulika and Maandi in Libra rasi in a
birth chart may raise risk of infertility.
13. Occupation of the Sun, Gulika, Maandi and the Moon in Scorpio Rasi may affect
fertility of a native.

Constellational Occupation of Fifth Lord from Lagna, the Moon and Jupiter

14. Occupation of 5th lord either from Lagna or from the Moon in Vipat, Pratyari and
Bhadhak (Vadha) Nakshatras in Navatara relation with respect to Janma
Nakshatra may affect fertility.
15. Occupation of Jupiter in Vipat, Pratyari and Bhadhak (Vadha) Nakshatras of
Janma Nakshatra affected about 25% of cases of infertility in this study.

Santana Thithi & Santana Trisphuta

16. Santana Thithi in Chidra Thithies (4th, 6th, 8th, 9th, 12th & 14th Thithies of both
Paksha) of may hamper filial happiness. Birth with Krishna Paksha Santana
Thithi may enhance the probability of infertility.
17. Birth with Santana Thithi in Chidra Thithies works against filial happiness.
Santana Thithi is in Krishna Paksha or Santana Karan is Vishti also
impediments filial happiness.
18. Occupation of Santana Trisphuta in 6th, 8th or 12th houses may enhance the
chances of infertility.
19. Santana Trisphuta Nakshatra as Vipat, Pratyari and Vadha Nakshatra of Janma
Nakshatra may enhance chances of infertility.
20. It is confirmed that the occupation of Santana Trisphuta in 6th, 8th or 12th houses
surely give rise to infertility. It is confirmed that occupation of Santana
Trisphuta Nakshatra in Vipat, Pratyari and Bhadhak Nakshatras of Janma may
affect infertility.

24
Relations with Janma Nakshatra, Day &Kaala Hora

21. Birth in the Nakshatra of Saturn and Ketu may hamper chances of fertility
22. The occupation of fifth lord in the constellations of the Sun and of Ketu is
coming to 27.67%. It shows that occupation of 5th lord either in the constellation
of the Sun or Ketu may hinder filial matters.
23. Saturn & Mercury are eunuch Grahas. Birth on Saturday with Mercury or Saturn
Hora or vice versa have a say on infertility.

Tatwas

24. Life evolved (creation) with Avtar of Matsya by Lord Vishu. Fishes live in
water. Hence Jala Tatwa is a must for creation. In this study it is observed that
Vayu Tatwa Rasis coming as 7th house may raise the chances of infertility. Vayu
Tatwa is governed by Saturn, a eunuch. 7th house have a key stake on the matter
related to child birth. Vayu Tatwa Rasi and Graha do not support the ambiance
conducive for reproduction.
25. Tatwa: It can be concluded that Agni Tatwa Rasis are impediment to child birth,
as we have seen from the Tatwa Analysis. Relation of 5th house or lord from
Lagna and from the Moon, Jupiter and the fifth from Jupiter to Agni Tatwa
directly influences the filial matters and make hindrance in child birth.

26. Occupation of 5th lords from Lagna, the Moon and Jupiter in Agni Tatwa Rasis
effected infertility. Occupation of Beeja and Kshetra Sputa in Agni Tatwa Rasi
did not affect the fertility of a native. But occupation of this point in Bhu Tatwa
Rasis (Gemini, Virgo and Capricorn) has a say on this matter. Bhu Tatwa
belongs to Mercury and may also be because two Rasis belong to infertile or
eunuch grahas ( Mercury & Saturn) and another (Taurus) is Alpasutha Rasi

27. Vayu Tatwa Rasi as 7th House from lagna may increase chances of infertility.
This is because the Vayu Tatwa is controlled by Saturn, is not conducive for
reproduction process and hence this conclusion. In the study of 224 charts, 67
(29.91%) are with Vayu Tatwa Rasis at 7th house.

25
Bhadakesh/Marakesh/Maha Bhadakesh

28. Association of Bhadakesh/Marakesh/Maha Bhadakesh with 5th lord from lagna,

fifth lord from the Moon, Jupiter and with 9th lord may hamper fertility.

Aruda of Third & Ninth from the Sun

29. Aruda of 3rd and 9th house from the Sun are to be observed very closely watched
and observed. Occupation of Venus/Mercury should not be in 8th house.
Occupation of the Sun in this point or in 2-6-8-12 will make the chart may also
make infertility. One word of caution. This method can be employed only to
confirm infertility and not at the initial stage.

Chapter no: 6
Conclusion
6.1) Beeja & Kshetra consideration

From several angles all 224 infertile charts have been astrologically studied and
scrutinized. This researcher feels that the prime factor is the disposition of Beeja/Kshetra
Sphuta in an infertile chart. The rule of infertility on Beeja/Kshetra Sphuta applied to
224 charts and found that it apply for 222 (99.11%) of total charts.

 Occupation of Beeja/Kshetra Sphuta in Odd/Even Rasis in Rasi & Navamsha

Charts.
 Occupation of malefics in these two sensitive points or in its trines

The above two conditions of Beeja/Kshetra Sphuta were found to be valid in 222 charts
out of 224, and hence it has the competence to be applied astrologically to find out
infertility in charts. The two charts escaped the Beeja/Kshetra Sphuta scrutiny fail at the
primary stage of investigation of 5th house matters itself, leaving no scope for secondary
screening Beeja/Kshetra Sphuta.

Finally it is the duty of the Astrologer to seize infertility. When the charts are being
matched for marriage, he/she should evaluate filial bliss also. If he/she sees 5th house
matters in any of the chart in a less magnitude, he/she should work out at least Beeja and
Kshetra for the charts and see the results. It is job of just about 10 minutes to work out
these sensitive points. If the Astrologer is dedicated towards Jyotisha, he/she must opt to
this exercise. By applying parameters of these two sensitive points in both the charts,
he/she can evaluate the level of filial bliss (upto99%) the couple is likely to experience. If
both charts are also not satisfactory, the parents of the proposed couple should be made to
realize the situation, and even if necessary, the Astrologer should not give approval for
the marriage of them. This is the best way to arrest infertility to some extent
astrologically. If an Astrologer does this, he/ she will be doing yeomen service to
mankind to evade infertility to a great extent. The vision and Wisdom of Great
Mantreshwara and Harihara are to be acknowledged deeply with dedication, who has
conducted serious research on this aspect.
27
Though the fifth house may be strong and all indications for the birth or children are
present, there will be no issues, if there is no strength or vitality for Beeja/Kshetra
Sphuta. Beeja is the seed of the male and Kshetra is the field of women. In other words
Beeja and Kshetra represent not exactly sperm and ovum, but element that really makes
the male and female fluids fertile. The Husband and Wife may be physiologically
normal. Their sex relations may be happy. But still if the Beeja and the Kshetra in their
horoscopes are not strong, when judges according to astrological rules, they will not
bring forth any issues. When Beeja sphuta is weak and Kshetra is strong, the children
may be born late in life after under taking the necessary remedial measures.

6.2) Grahas the Sun & Venus in Male Charts

The Sun and Venus Grahas in Male charts controls filial matters. They should be free
from malefic association for perfect filial bliss. As per Jaimini Sutras 3.4.17 Sauk`x: rotaaO
means Venus represents Sperm. Venus represents the Spermatozoa that fertilize the egg
and, for all purpose becomes the Karaka of the foetus. Motility and impregnation
capacity and of sperm is indicated by the Sun. If both Grahas are strong, and occupy odd
Rasis, fertility is assured in a male chart.

The sexual functions will be apparently normal, but the semen contains either no sperms
or count is too low. Absence of Sperms in semen is scientifically known as
AZOOSPERMIA while insufficiency of sperms is called OLIGOSPERMIA. In males
these two are the main two reasons are there for infertility. Causes of Azoospermia are
hormonal imbalance, testicular failure or infection. In most of the cases of azoospermia
and oligospermia, the cause is supposed to lie in an earlier inflammation of the
epididimys of gonorrheal origin. Modern Science may not be able to explain real reason
for infertility.

Generally this kind of problem occurs due to less count and degeneration of sperm which
ideally required for pregnancy. In such cases, the sperm cannot reach inside the fallopian
tube; hence female partner is unable to get conceive in spite of countless attempts. The
present day’s sedentary life style is much contributing to the causes of male infertility. In
28
most instances the young boys start taking steroids and medicines in order to have good
physique. This may also lead to male infertility later on.

Social stigma of infertile couple is unexplainable in society. In our country, there is a

tendency to blame blatantly females for infertility. Males are also equally responsible for
this peril, as per this study.

Astrology can find out astrological reasons for these defects, from which the society will
be immensely benefited. Once the Astrological defects are analyzed, the remedial
measures are to be followed. Just like a Prashna Chart can reveal the reasons for
infertility, it can also reveal whether the defects are removed or not, adopting and after
going through remedial measures. Once the defects are removed astrologically, with the
medical help, the couple can go either IVF/IUF process and see the result.

If chances of adoption are seen, the couple should be counseled and mentally prepared to
go for the same, without wasting time and money on treatment and remedial measures.
The present days living style also contribute much to the menace.

From the study of 77 couples with infertility, it is observed that in both the horoscopes,
5th house matters are with dismal portraits. If an apt Astrologer would have been there to
go through the 5th house matters, before marriage, this cannot happen. If one of the charts
is with filial lacuna, the other should very strong to sustain and produce children. This
could be an ideal matching.

Poorva Punya is the kernel of infertility, astrologically. And we have no control over
this, as this has been already written, before our birth. The accumulated balance of results
of Karmas of our previous birth is in the form of Poorva Punya.

So to make our Poorva Punya strong, at least to make it worthy for the coming births, let
us live a path of Dharma, to modify the quantum of accumulated Poorva Punya to get it
forward to the coming births to live without infertility. Let the almighty give us vision
and strength, vigor to a lead a life filled with Dharma and may GOD bless us with peace
and happiness and with a purposeful life. Let the GOD bless all justifying the sayings of
holy THIRUKKURAL.
