I. INTRODUCTION
The formerly Manga Community School was built in 1951, when the late Teniente del Barrio Felipe S. Mapile donated a lot approximately 10,000 sq. meters situated in
Barrio Manga to serve as school compound. The very first classroom built in that school compound was made out of cogon and bamboo and the pioneer teacher was Mr.
Alfredo Garcia from Caba, La Union. Mr. Garcia taught Grades I and II during that time. As years gone by Manga Community School become Manga Primary School.
It was in 1990, before the destructive earthquake occurred, Mr. Mario Mapile, one of the Barangay folks, requested for additional grade level because parent from that
Barangay was having a hard time in sending their children to other school in the low land to finish their elementary grade. Through the initiative of the District Supervisor, Mr.
Rogelio Labiano, he formally open Grade V with Mrs. Aida Balangue as teacher.
In March 1991, Manga Elementary School held its first Graduation Exercise under the leadership of Mr. Ernesto Manongdo.
II. SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY PROFILE
A. School Profile
VISION : To start building an Effective School with highly motivated learners; competent, dedicated and committed teachers; capable and dynamic manager;
adequate and wholesome learning environment; and harmonious school-parent-community relationship. Thus, it promotes relevant teaching-learning
experience to improve the learners’ quality of life.
CURRICULUM : Manga Elementary School is under the Department of Education of La Union implementing the Restructured Basic Education Curriculum. It has its
Pre-Elementary Curriculum too.
PERSONNEL : There are four (4) permanent teachers, one (1) T-2 and three (3) teacher one, and a kindergarten teacher.
PHYSICAL FACILITIES: There are three buildings used for classrooms, canteen, library, clinic and office of the Teacher - in-Charge.
B. Community Profile
In 1969, during the administration of the late Pres. Ferdinand E. Marcos an act allowing the creation of new barangays throughout the country which aimed to
provide more services and development in the rural areas. One of those created was called Barangay Manga.
It was formerly part of the Barangay San Antonio and the third largest Barangay in terms of land area which is 995.94 hectares. Barangay Manga comprises of five
sitios which are: Camusing, Lumes, Atic and Centro. A Health Center and a complete Elementary School is also constructed in both Sitio Centro and Sitio Bitag.
Barangay Manga is composed of vast rice farm, forest trees and people whose main occupations are farming.
It is bounded by Basca in the north, Gallano in the east. Daeng (Tubao) in the south and Macabato in the West.
