TOPOLOGY.

The above shown is the topology that is being used in our project, for configuring
an MPLS VPN. It consists of seven routers, namely R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6,
R7.All the required configurations are done on all the routers in order to form an
MPLS VPN. Such as assigning IP addresses, running different protocols etc.
ASSIGNING IP ADDRESSES.

In the above screen, the assigning of IP address is done on the R1 router. The
different interfaces of the router will be configured different IP addresses. In the
similar fashion all the seven routers will be assigned with their respective IP
addresses. The configuring of IP addresses of all the other routers is shown below.
The Topology after assigning IP addresses.

From the above screen we can make out the assigned IP addresses of all the seven
routers. And various routing protocols will be used in order to perform routing,
according to the requirement of the project. All the interfaces that are connected
in the network will have one distinguished IP address.
Testing connection between directly connected Interfaces.

In the above screen we see that, the routers that are directly connected, are
pinging. This shows that our job of assigning IP addresses to the different
interfaces has been done perfectly, with out any error. When we type the
command “sh ip route”, all the routes originating from that particular router will
be displayed, with respective to the type of connectivity.
In the similar fashion various routes originating from the router R2 has been
displayed. The above screen shows all the networks that are connected to the
router R2. Similarly testing can be done on all the routers, in order to check
whether all IP address assigned to them are done correctly or not.
Configuring OSPF Routing Protocol on R1,R2 and R3 and testing the
communication between the OSPF network.

In the routers R1, R2, R3 the routing protocol that has been used for performing
routing is the OSPF. So after configuring the OSPF, when we type the command
“sh ip route ospf”, we will get to see all the routes of OSPF. And by pinging we
can make out whether they are connected properly or not. If there are any errors
that can be corrected at that time itself.
Enabling MPLS on R1, R2 and R3.

In our project the technology that we are using is the MPLS, so we need to
configure it on the selected routers that are responsible to handle it. The routers
here are R1, R2, R3, which act as the provider routers. Thus, we need to configure
MPLS on these selected routers. With the help of these three routers, the two ends
will be able to communicate with the other partner who is sitting at the other side
of the network, through these provider routers.
After enabling MPLS, an “MPLS forwarding table” will be formed, that will have
the information of all the labels assigned to the different networks. The provider
edge routers will have two types of labels, the local label and the outgoing label.
Thus in the above screen we see how the labels are assigned by the routers to the
different networks.
The R3 router is the other provider edge router, where label assignment is
performed in the same way as that of the router R1. And it will have its own
assigned local labels and the outgoing labels. This can be checked by typing the
command “sh mpls forwarding table”.
The Topology after configuring OSPF and enabling MPLS.

Thus we see that, the topology formed after configuring of all the different routing
protocols is unique. The MPLS is enabled on the routers where the OSPF runs.
And that becomes the MPLS domain. It is the medium through which the router
R5 will be able to communicate with R7 and the router R4 will be able to
communicate with the router R6.
Creating VRF A1( For Company A1), VRF B1(For Company B1)
on Router R1 and Testing VRFs connections.

On the router R1, a virtual routing forwarding (VRF) is created. It is the VRF that
helps in forming two or more dedicated lines from a singular router. On the router
R1, two VRFs named A1 and B1 are created. The A1 will have his own accepting
of routes and the B1 will have his own accepting of routes. These are only virtual
routers, and the global router will be intact. So for testing of the VRFs, we have to
ping from the global routers to the VRF, and if it pings, then we know that the
VRFs were created perfectly, its command is “ping vrf A1 41.0.0.4”.
Creating VRF A2(For Company A2), VRF B2(For Company B2) on
Router R3 and Testing VRFs connections.

In the above screen, the creation of VRFs on the router R3 is shown. The names
of the two VRFs are A2 and B2. After creating the VRFs, we need to ping from
the global router, which is the R3, to check whether the VRFs were created
properly or not. And if it pings, then the VRFs were created perfectly.
MP-BGP

Creating a Tunnel between R1 and R3 using MP-BGP routing protocol.

TESTING CONNECTION BETWEEN THE COMPANY BRANCH A1
AND BRANCH A2 (PINGING FROM R4 TO R6).

In the above screen we see that, we are trying to ping from the router R4 to R6,
where both the routers are at two different ends. We see that the pinging is
possible. This shows that there is a proper communication between the VRFs of
both the providing edge routers R1 and R3.
NOW PINGING FROM R6 TO R4.

In the similar fashion when we try to ping from the router R6 to R4, it possible, so
a two way tunnel is formed where communication can be done from either if the
to sides.
TESTING CONNECTION BETWWEN THE COMPANY BRANCH
B1 AND BRANCH B2( PINGING R5 TO R7).

Now we have to check the connectivity between R5 and R7. In the above screen
we see that we are trying to ping from the router R5 to router R7. By pinging we
get to see that it is possible. So connectivity between them was perfect.
NOW PINGING FROM R7 TO R5.

In the same way when we try to ping from the router R7 to R5, we see that it is
pinging. Thus we can say that the network that has been established is perfect and
communication between the dedicated routes can be carried out smoothly.
TESTING WHETHER PINGING CAN BE POSSIBLE BETWEEN R4
AND R7.

We have created a dedicated line between the router R4-R6 and the router R5-R7.
These routers will be able to communicate with each other through the routers R1
and R3. But the thing that is important that, R4 is allowed to communicate only
with R6 and the router R5 is allowed to communicate with R7. The router R4 is
not allowed to communicate with R7. Similarly R5 is not allowed to communicate
with R6. This shown in the above screen. When R4 tries to ping to R7 it is not
allowed.
Final Topology

The below shown is the final topology that has been formed after configuring all the
requirements in creation of an MPLS VPN. Here an MPLS VPN is established between
R4 and R6 and in between R5 and R7. This has been made possible through the provider
routers R1, R2 and R3.
