USAT is included in the International Medical Education Directory (the 'IMED
list') in the USA. Accordingly, students and graduates of the University may
apply for and sit for all components of the US Licensing Examinations
(USMLE, Steps I, II, and III).

USAT students and graduates qualify for and take the same examinations as
graduates of traditional US Medical Schools, are graded using the same
criterion and may apply for the same Post Graduate Training opportunities
as graduates of traditional US medical schools.
 ABOUT ACCREDITATION

Your goal is most likely to become a licensed physician in the United States or
Canada. Our goal is to make sure that this happens. It is extremely important that the
medical school in which you are enrolled is recognized by the ECFMG (Educational
Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) the organization which grants you the
right to take all three steps of the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE)
which must be passed to become a practicing physician in the U.S. Recogition by the
ECFMG depends directly on whether or not the school is listed in the International
Medical Education Directory (IMED) which provides an accurate and up-to-date
resource of information about international medical schools that are recognized by
the appropriate government agency in the countries where the medical schools are
located. The agency responsible for this recognition in most countries is the Ministry
of Health. Medical schools that are recognized by the appropriate agencies in their
respective countries are listed in the International Medical Education Directory.
A medical school is listed in IMED after the Foundation for Advancement of
International Medical School Education and Research (FAIMER) receives confirmation
from the Ministry of Health or other appropriate agency that the medical school is
recognized by the Ministry or other agency. FAIMER also updates the International
Medical Education Directory as information about medical schools is received from
Ministries of Health or other appropriate agencies, including the World Health
Organization (WHO).
Please note that the WHO is in the process of replacing their World Directory of
Medical Schools. As explained on their website, the Directory will be replaced by a
new, more comprehensive global database maintained by the University of
Copenhagen, Denmark.
 EUROPEAN HEALTHCARE FRAUD AND CORRUPTION NETWORK

The EHFCN was established formally in 2005 to coordinate and advance efforts to
counter healthcare fraud and corruption in Europe.
Its foundations lie in the European Healthcare Fraud and Corruption Declaration,
agreed by the delegates of the first pan European conference held in London in
October 2004.
The Network is a not-for-profit organisation, based in Brussels, financed through
subscription fees and the only European organisation dedicated to combating
healthcare fraud and corruption across Europe. In aggregate, the member
organisations of EHFCN provide healthcare services to about 400 million people in
Europe.
 Objective

The EHFCN’s primary objective is to reduce fraud and corruption in healthcare

throughout Europe.

By working together, its members aim to fraud proof European healthcare systems and
release billions of Euros from fraud, bringing it back to healthcare services.

Successful graduates receive the diploma of a

Bachelor of Medicine/ Bachelor of surgery (MBBS)

or the traditonal U.S. style

Medical Doctor (M.D.)

Entitling them to enter the medical profession. As recognition of its high level,
medical training of the Montserrat College of Medicine was recognized by
several foreign countries, including the United States.

Our former students pass state examinations of various countries, including

USMLE, with well above the average results. USAT graduates are completing
residencies in different countries all over the world from India to Russia and
nearby all US.

Sciences College is listed in the International Medical Education Directory

In the United States the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates
(ECFMG) and its organizational members define an international medical graduate as a
physician who received his/her basic medical degree or qualification from a medical school
located outside the United States and Canada. To be eligible for ECFMG Certification, the
physician’s medical school and graduation year must be listed in the International Medical
Education Directory (IMED). International medical graduates must meet some examination
and medical education credential requirements to receive an ECFMG Certification.

LEGALIZATION AND APOSTILLES
If desired, and for International Students and purposes, the Official Diplomas
and Transcripts of the University of Science, Arts and Technology - Montserrat,
as official documents, are suitable to be legalized under Affidavit or Notarial
Certification from the University Registrar and La Hague Convention Apostille
will be solicited form the Montserrat Apostille Certification Authority.
As a British Territory Graduates could also ask for Consular Certification and
authentication of signatures that in most cases are exempt from further
legalization, as documents produced by Consular Agents usually are.
