About MIDO

MIDO is a civil society organization with the aspiration for social change through the use of ICT
and technology for the betterment of society. Founded in 2012, the organization is dedicated
toward digital rights and digital safety issues, peacebuilding and capacity building in Myanmar.

Workplace Culture

Program Background

A program for effective mitigation of digital threats in Myanmar during the election period. The
program involves rapid response Helpline service and capacity building activities to promote the
digital safety practices for a more digitally resilient community.

Role

A Digital Safety officer is responsible for providing proper counselling, technical support, and
delivering safety awareness to the community. The digital safety officer is part of the incident
response team and mainly responsible for rapid response service. Frequently, working closely
with the Technical Lead in delivering support for the targeted community. MIDO is looking for
service minded individuals with strong technological knowledge.

The position is ideal for a quick learner who is eager to provide amazing technical advice to help
support the betterment of digital safety and privacy landscape in Myanmar while developing the
relevant skill sets and expertise.

Duties and Responsibilities

● Perform incident rapid response duties via various communications methods such as
email, chat, audio and video;
● Provide risk assessments and give digital security advice and recommendations, in written
and verbal formats;
● Regularly report to Technical Lead and Digital Safety Program Manager
● Providing technical aid and solution for the audience via helpline communication channels
● Contribute in digital safety educational resource development
● Keep technical knowledge and skills up to date
● Organizing and conducting Digital safety training and workshops
● Perform outreach activities to promote the Digital Safety Helpline Service.

Requirements

● Minimum 2 years experiences with relevant technical support role, preferably in civil
society and NGO.
● Expertise in web development/administration [OR] system administration and network
security is required
● Digital safety knowledge and relevant skills to configure and troubleshoot and utilize tools
and tactics is highly preferable
● Must be privacy minded; high regard of data and individual privacy
● Individuals with high interpersonal performances: coordination skills, customer service
skills, ability to provide consultation and effective communication skills are all definite
pluses
● Fluency in written and spoken English is highly preferable
● Ability to work on a flexible, shift schedule
● Ability to cope with and address unexpected challenges
