The Bachelor of Elementary and Secondary Education, General Education is a degree program designed to prepare students for becoming Elementary/Secondary School General
Education Teachers. Graduates of this program are expected to be well-equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values that will aid them to facilitate the teaching-learning
process of any General Education class for the secondary level.

E. Course Description
The purpose of the course is to examine and discuss the functions and underlying principles of the administration of special education services in the public school setting. The role of
the administrator in the development of Individualized Education Plans, student placement, student discipline, child find activities, fiscal management, transportation, and legal implications of
decisions will be studied.

F. Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, students should be able to:


1. Identify critical issues of supervision of faculty, children and staff.
2. Demonstrate knowledge of the components and composition of IDEA grants.
3. Understand the special education budget process.
4. Understand the role of supervision in referral and evaluation.
5. Understand the role of the local district in child find obligations.
6. Review, discuss, and understand the relevance of recent due process hearing decisions in relation to the administration of special education.
