Installation in a safe way:
The Electrical Control Unit main supply is 110-230V. Connecting the ECU-10 must be done by an
authorized electrician. The electrical installation must also follow the local laws and regulations.
The installation must follow the electrical wiring diagrams in this manual.
English
The ECU and the valve units should be mounted on a “solid”/stable post or wall, not on a vibrating
equipment- which may, in the long run, cause damage on electrical components due to vibrations.
The ambient temperature should be between +5°C and +50°C.
Make sure to follow the wiring diagrams connecting the hoses between valve unit and conveyor.
The valve unit should be placed close to the vacuum conveyor. Preferably less than 5 meters away.
A switch to disconnect equipment from supply source must be installed. Switch shall be clearly
market.
Safe usage
The following shall be observed to ensure safe usage of Piab ECU-10.
►► Read the manual before starting the installation and operation.
►► Only trained people/staff shall operate the ECU-10 together with a Piab piFLOW® conveyor.
►► Before taking the conveyor into operation, check that the cycle times of the ECU-10 are set.
(See manual piFLOW®)
►► Ambient temperature of the ECU-10: +5°C to +50°C.
►► It is forbidden to open the covers on the ECU-10 and valve units. NOTE- The lid to the touch
screen can be opened but should during operation stay closed.
►► Safe cleaning of the touch screen is by using a damp cloth.

FUNCTION
The microcomputer based electrical controls is to control the function of the Piab vacuum
conveyor. It is a valve unit included to convert the electrical signals and pneumatical signals.
English
Overview of connections:
The electrical control system is based on two units. One valve unit which comprises all pneumatic
components and provides connections to the vacuum conveyor and one electrical control unit
comprising electronics and touch-screen display covered with a door function. Start and stop
button is placed on the outside of the electrical control unit. In- and outlet for electrical interfaces
and cable for steering the valve unit is also comprised in the electrical control unit.
There is two versions of the valve unit, a standard unit for general vacuum conveying and a valve
unit for vacuum conveying for fragile products where the function is to have a stable low speed of
the product.

INSTALLATION
MOUNTING OF THE ELECTRICAL CONTROL
Mounting of the electrical control can be done on a wall with a bracket, available as an accessory.
English
The conveyor is intended to be used in a fixed position. The electrical control unit and valve unit
should be mounted on a stable surface.
COMPRESSED AIR
We recommend compressed air of at least quality class 3, as to particle size and concentration of
solid contaminants, is used (ISO norm 8573.1) for Piab’s vacuum pumps. This means that only a
maximum of 5 mg/m3 of a maximum of 5 μm size particles may be present in the compressed air.
