Merits of Abu Bakr As-Siddiq(r.

a)
In Verses:

1/ Surah Al-Layl (17-21)

“ But the righteous one will avoid it. [He] who gives [from]
his wealth to purify himself. And not [giving] for anyone who has
[done him] a favor to be rewarded. But only seeking the
countenance of His Lord. Most High. And He is going to be
satisfied. And he is going to be satisfied.” (92: 17-21)

All the commentators agree that these verses were revealed for
Abu Bakr(ra). This can be found in many tafseers. I will give the
scan of tafseer Ibn Katheer:

So, by this verse, Allah has declared Hazrat Abu Bakr

Siddique(ra) as a "righteous person". And as Allah says at
another place:
" Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most
righteous of you"
(49:13)
Indeed, this verse is a proof of the high status of Abu Bakar(ra) in
the eyes of Allah(swt).

2/ Surah Al-Layl (1-4)

The first four verses:
" By the night when it covers and [by] the day when it appears. And [by] he who created the male and
female. Indeed, your efforts are diverse. "
In Tafseer Durre Manthur, Ibn Asakir reports on the authority of Ibn Masud that these verses were revealed
when Abu Bakr(ra) bought Bilal(ra) and freed him.
3/ Surah Tawba (40)
"He (saw) was one of two, when they were in the cave and he said to his companion, ‘Do not grieve;
indeed Allah is with us’. And Allah sent down his tranquillity upon him and supported him with angels you
did not see."

All the Muslims agree that Abu Bakr was the companion of the Prophet(saw) in the cave. Anybody who
doesn't agree with this is a Kafir by Ijma because he rejects a verse of the Quran.

Ibn Asakir narrates from Ibn Abbas(ra) that the verse "Allah sent His tranquility upon him" , this refers to
Abu Bakr(ra) because the Prophet(saw) already had tranquility upon him.

4/ Surah Zumar (23)

“And the one who has brought the truth and [they who] believed in it -
those are the righteous.”
5/ Surah Rahman (46)
“But for he who has feared the position of his lord are two
gardens”

Ibn Abi Hatim has narrated from Ibn Shothab that this was
Revealed for Abu Bakr As-Siddiq.

6/ Surah Al Imran (159)

“ And consult them in the matter”

Hakim has narrated from Ibn Abbas that this verse was revealed for Abu Bakr(ra) and Umar(ra).
7/ Surah Tahrim (4)
“ Then indeed Allah is his (Prophet ‫ )صلى هللا عليه وسلم‬protector, and Gabriel and the righteous of the
believers”
The righteous believers mentioned here refer to Abu Bakr(ra), Umar(ra) and in some narrations Ali bin Abi
talib(ra) as well.

8/ Surah Ahzaab (43)

“It is He who confers His blessings upon you, and His angels [ask him to do so] that He may bring you out
from darkness into the light”

When the verse “ Indeed, Allah and His Angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe!
Send blessings on him and greet him (with) greetings.” (33:56) was revealed, Abu Bakr(ra) said to
Prophet(saw): ‘O Rasool ullah ‫صلى هللا عليه وسلم‬, Allah has revealed good upon you without giving us a
share in it.’ then this verse was revealed.
9/ Surah Ahqaf (15-16)

“We have enjoined man to be kind to his parents. In pain did his mother bear him and in pain
did she give birth to him. The carrying of the child to his weaning is a period of thirty
months.19 And when he is grown to full maturity and reaches the age of forty, he prays: “My
Lord, dispose me that I may give thanks for the bounty that You have bestowed upon me and
my parents, and dispose me that I may do righteous deeds that would please You, and also
make my descendants righteous. I repent to You, and I am one of those who surrender
themselves to You.It is they whose good works We accept and overlook their omissions.
(It is) they (who) are the people of Paradise. This is the true promise which is being
made to them.”

Ibn Abbas(ra) said that these two verses were revealed for Abu Bakr(ra)
10/ Surah Hijr: 47
“ And We shall remove from their breasts all spite that they had (in the
world against one another due to misunderstanding). They shall be
brothers seated on couches face to face (in Paradise).”

Ali bin Hussain(ra) said that the verse was revealed for Abu
Bakr(ra),Umar(ra) and Ali(ra).

11/ Surah Noor (22)

“Let those among you who are bounteous and resourceful not swear to
withhold giving to the kindred, to the needy, and to those who have forsaken
their homes in the cause of Allah; rather, let them forgive and forbear. Do you not wish that Allah should forgive you?
Allah is Ever Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

This verse was revealed for Abu Bakr(ra) as mentioned in Sahih Muslim #2770. Aishah has stated that after the
revelation of (verses 11- 21 )absolving her from the accusation, Abu Bakr swore that he would no longer
support Mistah bin Uthatha. This was because the man had shown absolutely no regard for the relationship, nor
for the favors that Abu Bakr had all along been showing him and his family. At this (verse 22 )was revealed
and Abu Bakr, on hearing it, immediately said: By God, we do want that Allah should forgive us.
Consequently he again started to help Mistah and in a more liberal manner than before. According to Abdullah
bin Abbas, some other companions, besides Abu Bakr, also had sworn that they would discontinue helping
those who had taken an active part in the slander. After the revelation of this verse, all of them revoked their
oaths and the ill-will that had been created by the mischief was gone.

Note: In this verse, Allah made Ayesha(ra) clear of all the slanders against. If any person says that Ayesha(ra)
did zina(as some Ghali Raafidhis say nowadays) they are kuffar by the consensus of the scholars.

12/ Surah Tawba (40)

“ If you do not aid the Prophet - Allah has already aided him…”

Ibn Ayna said: “Allah has reproached all the Muslims about the Prophet(saw) except for Abu Bakr. He was the
only one who was not reproached. Then he read this verse.”
