UIC 558 VE series connector  

The connector complies with the requirements of UIC 558 VE  Rugged design
(up to 1994: UIC 568 VE). It connects lines used for the: The receptacle features an emergency release that
remote control of lights
 ensures, provided the receptacle is installed in the
correct position, a non-destructive separation of plug
remote control of doors
 and receptacle when two electrically not decoupled
public address systems in passenger coaches
 vehicles move apart.

 Increased corrosion resistance to chemicals, in par-
ticular to detergents containing acids or alkalis
We can also supply contact inserts for special Shell

applications.
 Quick and easy to install
 Shell can be split, allowing wiring checks
 Simple to replace individual elements
 Seals can be replaced without disassembling the
contacts
 Uses the same basic design for normal receptacles
and dummy receptacles. The conversion of dummy
receptacles into normal receptacles is done by fitting the
appropriate contacts.
 Coding
 Keypositions for mating prevent connectors from
mismating with connectors carrying different inserts

Disassembly of contacts:
Insert extraction tool into the contact hole as far as it will go. The contact (pin or
socket) is ejected from the contact cavity by the force of the spring.
Important: Never use force to remove the contacts from the contact cavity!
