Caputo Should be Fired or Arrested

Michael Caputo, chief spokesperson for the Department of Health and

Human Services, said last week, “When Donald Trump refuses to stand
down at the inauguration, the shooting will begin.” The country is already
super-polarized socially, racially, economically, educationally,
religiously, and politically, and as Trump would say, he wouldn’t want
“people to panic.” In addition, Caputo said "If you carry guns, buy
ammunition, ladies and gentlemen, because it’s going to be hard to get."
This is the chief spokesperson for Health and Human Services! He’s
talking about an armed insurrection coming from the far left, like a
second Civil War. This is totally irresponsible and has no place in
American public discourse. When are people going to stop demonizing
those who disagree with and disapprove of Trump? Has Caputo
forgotten that it’s the extreme right that is sending armed militia into
state capitols to disrupt the legislative process?
We’re a nation of 330 million people, at least half of whom are bitterly
divided over their political differences, and we don’t need a senior
government official in any federal agency talking about Americans killing
each other. Least of all a spokesperson.
It’s bad enough that Trump is going all over television the country
discrediting the legitimacy of this presidential election, so much so that
people don’t know who or what to believe anymore.
Caputo should have been fired immediately by HHS Secretary Alex
Azar or Trump’s Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, and show there may yet
be at least one grown up left in this administration.
To his credit, Caputo called an emergency staff meeting to apologize
and say that he may need to go on medical leave. Truth is, he may be
suffering from a mental illness. In my view, the evidence is certainly
there. He has no place in government. If he wants to be a public servant,
he should start serving by leaving, or be arrested.
