A Letter of Intent (Priesthood)

2020

The Rt. Rev’d Allan Cabillo Capparro

Diocesan Bishop of Negros Oriental & Siquijor

Dear Bishop,

Greetings of peace and harmony from the savior our Lord Jesus Christ!

When I was in the Seminary, I wanted to be in the order of priesthood quickly. But

everything has a process that is why we need to be in the proper step to achieve what

we have aspired for. First step of the hierarchical structure is the deacon, and now I

am making this letter of intention for priesthood. Serving a couple of months as a

deacon made me think that ministry is not static but a dynamic one. I know that my

experiences as a deacon of the church is good enough as a stepping stone to be in the

next level of service which is the order of priesthood. Another step is the responsibility

to deal with. I know that it is not easy but I already accepted it as my calling. As the

responder to the call of Christ I will do the best that I can for the goodness of the

ministry that I am into.

Generally, the statement “to serve” is the common thing that I always heard when

someone will ask about our intention in this kind of vocation. It is really true, as

ministers of God and ministers of truth we are oblige to serve in the path that we are
walking. Being true to the ministry or being true to the church is being true to what

God wanted for us to do.

One of the intentions that I want to magnify has something with the ordained ministry

of Christ. As we share in the ministry of Christ we are also challenged to do Christ-like

ministry, namely; Kerygma, Diakonia, Martyria, Koinonia, Liturgia, and Didache.

Kerygma is all about the Gospel mandate of proclaiming. Proclaiming the good news is

part of the ministry that we are into. As the Lord God almighty sent his only beloved

son Jesus Christ to redeem the world and as we can see that Jesus Christ is the good

news itself for he saved us from our sins. As Christ is the good news then we should

be a good news and a blessing to others.

Secondly is all about Diakonia or the gospel mandate of service. As ministers we tend

to serve just like what Jesus Christ did, not literally that we should bring back what

happened in the past as what Jesus did but the point here is that we will serve with

goodness in our hearts. Meaning service will always matter in our characters.

Martyria or the gospel mandate of witnessing should be on the minister’s mind and part

of his/her priority in doing God’s mission and better accompanied with the so called

fellowship to our brothers and sisters and this is called in greek as Koinonia or the

gospel mandate of fellowship.

All that we do and of what we have done, we do it for the Lord that is why we should

praise him and give thanks to him as he showers his grace upon us, this has something

to do with worship meaning we should give reverence to the Lord God almighty for he

is our master teacher and our redeemer. Jesus Christ taught his apostles or command
his apostles to do minister this is where the Didache comes in or the Apostolic teachings

of Jesus.

Now it is very clear that all I want in this ministry is to serve, to proclaim the good

news, to witness and be a blessing to others, to worship God and to do the task that he

had given for me to do and these would be possible through in the order of priesthood.

Good day and may God Bless us all!

Very Respectfully Yours,

REVD. DEACON DAISY CADIZ NARCISO
