(a).Language is a system that is used for expressing meaning and its chief purpose is interaction.
.The primary units of a language are not its grammatical or structural features , but categories of
functional and communicative meaning as found in written and spoken discourse.
.All four basic communicative skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) need to be integrated and
developed simultaneously.
.Language can be used for basic interpersonal communication skills (BICS); cognitive academic language
proficiency (CALP) can be developed.
(b)As a teacher, you need to have a through knowledge of how the home language that you teach
works and changes so that you can help learners to develop their communicative competence fully. If
you teach groups of mixed culture and race, you also have to bear in mind that many of the learners in
your class may not be home language speakers of the language used for instruction (most likely
English). This further complicates your task because you cannot take for granted that all learners
operate from the same frame of reference or level of ability. Therefore, you have to used different
activities and levels of explanation to meet individual needs.
The traditional role of a teacher as a unique source of all knowledge has changed. You have to act as an
organizer of knowledge, an initiator of activities, guiding and advising rather than prescribing or drilling
a specific aspect of language .You must facilitate the communication process between learners and
monitor their interaction with a variety of language texts or discourse . You have to establish situations
that are likely to promote communication in both formal and informal settings, Sometimes you will be a
communicator such as when you encourage learners to share their ideas and opinions.

I have used it successfully for proving student’s collaborative and critical thinking skills through the
Asynchronous debate and now exploring making learning more flexible for today’s digital natives who
can learn anywhere and anytime.
ICTs are being used in education to assist students to learn more effectively by providing teachers with
access to a wide range of new pedagogy.these technologies are also being used to enable teachers to
do administrative tasks more efficiently.
. Intergrate ICT’s in the learning process , as a key competence and contributing to the acquisition of the
target foreign language.
Bring students to the real contact with the target foreign language and users (whether native or not ), by
means of the electronic mail, “chats”,”blogs”, or spaces wiki

As an additional language teacher you should embrace all language and have positive regard for all of
them.Learners must be able to express themselves in order to join social groups, make friendships,
apply for jobs and live in our multicultural society .if you have a positive attitude to all languages ,it will
be easy to understand all and like it an d applied this to your learners.
