Outcomes and summary of the survey

The first question was whether I should implement any filters on my images. Filters

should be avoided in the images to maintain the original quality. Among the sample population

of 6 people, 3 people who represented 50% said no. 1 person suggested to filter images in black

and white. 1 person responded with a plain yes while the last person suggested the use of filter

but said it reduces the quality of the image. I learned that people do not love images with filters.

This can be helpful in the design challenge since I will be in a position to avoid filters on Images

to make them more attractive.

Secondly, pictures should appeal to a different demographic. Out of 6 respondents, 66.7%

said yes, while 16.7% said no. Also, 16.7% were not sure whether pictures should appeal to

different demographics. What I learned was that pictures should be meant to appeal to different

demographics. In the design challenge outline, this could help me to have pictures designed for

different demographics.

Thirdly, big picture improves on its effectiveness. 4 respondents, which is 66.7%, said

yes, while 1 respondent, 16.7%, said no. Another 1 respondent, 16.7%, was not sure whether

effectiveness was affected by size. What I learned is that the picture size contributed a lot to its

effectiveness. This can be helpful in the design competition outline since I would rely more on

the size of the picture for effectiveness.

Fourthly, innovative methods should be used for presentation. Out of 6 respondents,

83.3% said innovative methods should be used for presentation, while 16.7% said traditional

methods should be used. I learned that presentation should always be based on innovation. This

will help a lot in the design challenge as it will be purely based on innovation.
SURVEY 3

On the fifth question, nature should be the main subject of the picture. 50% of the

respondents said nature should be the main subject, 33.3% said city life, and 16.7% said abstract.

I learned that people are interested more in pictures based on nature. This would be helpful in the

design contest since I would mainly focus on nature-based pictures.

On the sixth question, pictures should tell a story from recent event. 33.3% of the

respondents said recent events, 33.3% did not choose the option, 16.7% said past events, and

16.7% said the society's stories. What I learned was that people are more interested in pictures

covering recent events. Also, pictures of high quality would attract them, whether they are for

past or recent events. This will be helpful since I will mainly have pictures covering recent

events.

On the seventh question, peace should be the emotion presented to the audience by the

picture. 33.3% said peace, 16.7% said lost, 33.3% said reflection and 16.7% said content. What I

learned is that pictures representing peace and reflection are more selling to the audience. This

will help in the design challenge since I will focus on reflection and peace pictures.

On the eighth question, there should be a bright background being portrayed by the

background of the picture. 33.3% of the respondents said a bright background, 33.3% said

conceptual background, 16.7% said patterned background, and 16.7% said complex background.

What I learned is that pictures with the bright and conceptual background are most appealing to

the audience. This will help in the design challenge, as pictures with the bright and conceptual

background will be mainly used.

On the ninth question, there should be a constant element kept constant in every picture.

83.3% of the respondents said yes, while 16.7% said no. I learned that some elements should be

kept constant in all pictures for them to appeal to the audience. It will help in the design

challenge by ensuring that I have constant elements in all pictures.

On the tenth question, the topic I would like to be portrayed in the image is friendship.

33.3% of the respondents said friendship, 33.3% said learning of one’s self, and 33.3% said the

connection with nature. What I learned is that topics of friendship, self-learning, and connection

with nature are equally liked when portrayed in the picture. This will be helpful in the design

outline challenge since I will choose pictures covering those topics.

Lastly, on the eleventh question, the image should tell a story. 88.3% of the respondents

said yes, and 16.7% said no. What I learned is that people love pictures that tell stories. It was

helpful for the design challenge outline since I will focus more on pictures telling a story.

Summary

The survey made me understand a few important basics of photography work. Firstly, the

pictures should tell a peaceful story. The background of the pictures should be either bright or

conceptual. The pictures should present certain emotions to the audience, with various elements

being kept through the work. Secondly, filters reduce the quality of the picture and make them

less appealing. Also, the image should be large to enhance its effectiveness. Thirdly, pictures

should present recent events in the friendliest way. Pictures about nature are the most appealing

to the audience. Lastly, pictures' mode of presentation should be highly innovative, and each

picture should be presented to a distinctive demographic.
