T he 23rd Psalm is possibly
the most familiar passage of
Scripture known. It is often
read at funerals. Many have found great comfort
and reassurance in the message enfolded in its
brief description of a Shepherd’s care.
Sometimes, however, we fail to see the
depths of something because it is so familiar.
This Psalm opens with the mention of one of
our Lord’s redemptive names: The Lord is my
Shepherd. The Hebrews felt that the names by
which the Lord revealed Himself were indica-
tors of what He wanted to do for His people.
For example, The Lord our Healer (Ex. 15:26)
revealed God’s desire to
be the Healer of His
people. So, when
confronted by
sickness and dis-
ease, a Hebrew
believer would
call upon the
Lord his Healer.
Each name by
which the Lord
had revealed Himself
would underscore an
aspect of His divine
nature by which He
wanted His people to
know Him.
So when the Lord reveals Himself as our
Shepherd, what does He want to convey to us?
He wants to be our guide through this life.
Although the Psalm is often read at funerals,
it is not really about being guided from this life

G od has an Eternal Program that takes in the Eternal man and
makes him a part of it.
God has set Eternity in the heart of man.
Man belongs to God’s Eternity.
The New Man created in Jesus Christ, is partaker of Eternal Life.
That is the life of the Eternities — the life of the Eternal God.
So, we swing unconsciously into the orbit of the Eternal Program
of the Eternal God.
What an overwhelming thought.
How it lifts us out of the limitations of a mere mortal flesh and
mortal life, and a mortal thinking.
How it swings us out into the realm of Faith — out into the realm
of Love so vast, so wonderful that its limits are the limits of the
heart of God.
How big it makes life when one realizes that he belongs to an
Eternal Program.
The little Earth affairs lose their hurt, pains and tears as one
swings out into this great plan of the Eternal purposes of God.
An Individual Program
There is not only an Eternal Program but there is an Individual
Program that God has for us, or perhaps I had better change it
and say that God has a program into which the individual fits, a
program that is peculiarly a program of God for him.
I have a part in that program that God has made, and that is
thrilling.
Oh how comforting it is to think that God planned your life and
my life, that it should fit into His life.
Then every life, in the purposes of God, is like the cogs on a
wheel.
They have their place, and you, my brother, my sister, have
a place in God’s plan.
When He speaks of the church as the body of Christ, He says
that every member has his work.
He set the members in the body as it pleased Him.
My business is to find out my place in the Program.
If I am to be a teacher, I am to wait on my teaching without
distraction.
If I am to be a helper, I am to wait on my helping without
distraction.

 OurUnknownPrivileges
N o one can enjoy his privileges
in Christ beyond his knowledge.
I do not mean knowledge as we
count knowledge in philosophy,
but I mean knowledge that has
been brought into experience
through the Word of God.
This is not a religion or a
creed. It is not philosophy. It is
reality! I found it and I can lead
you into it. It is the greatest bio-
logical fact that the human mind
has ever discovered.
I want to tell you about this
thing called the "New Birth".
It is the greatest miracle that the
human mind has ever grasped.
What is it? It is the receiving
into our spirit, into our inner
being the nature and life of God.
Paul calls it the New Creation.
He says, “Wherefore if any man
is in Christ, there is a new cre-
ation – the old things are passed
away; behold, they are become
new.”
“Wherefore if any man is in
Christ.” That is, if you are a
Christian, a child of God, you are
a New Creation. There has come
into you, the nature and life and
substance of God. Here is some-
thing utterly new to the world,
something the world never knew
before.
“It is no wonder he says, "Old
things are passed away,” the old
things of failure, of weakness, of
doubts and fears, and in the place
of that old failure life there has
come the new victorious con-
sciousness. The man has passed
out of the realm of weakness and
the realm of servitude to become
a master.
Rom. 5:17, “For if, by the tres-
pass of the one, death reigned
through the one.” When Adam
sinned in the Garden and turned
over to the Adversary his domin-
ion; failure, weakness, doubts
and fears were born. God had
made Adam His Under-Ruler
with all authority and dominion
over all the work of His hands.
Adam sold out his authority. He
gave it over into the hands of the
Enemy and became a servant
where once he was the master of
the Enemy.
“Much more shall they that
receive the abundance of grace
and of the gift of righteousness
reign in life through the one, even
Jesus Christ.”
Do you see it? In the place
where you have served as a
slave, as a servant, now you have
the privilege of reigning as a king.
Perhaps you have never read
Phil. 4:13 (Twentieth Century
Translation) “For I have learned
in whatsoever state I am therein
to be independent of circum-
stances.” Can’t you see that fail-
ure cannot be in that realm?
God will take the most com-
mon man, a failure man, and put
something into that man that will
put him over the top.
When you receive into your
spirit the nature and life of God,
you are tied up with Omnipo-
tence, you are tied up with
success.
What does Psalms 23:1 mean?
“Jehovah is my Shepherd; I shall
not want.” It means that you
have come into vital union with
Him; Christ said, “I am the vine,
ye are the branches.”
You are a branch. You have
been grafted into the very body
of the Son of God. You have
become a partaker of His very
nature.
When you awaken in the
morning you remember, “I am
tied up with God. I have God’s
life, God’s nature in me. I have
God’s strength, God's ability,
God’s wisdom. You take God
to put you over and give you
success for the day.
You lean back on this Script-
ure, “Greater is He that is in me
than he that is in the world.” You
do not talk about your doubts
and fear, nor about your hard
times. They are things of the
past.
You are a new “species.” You
have been created in Christ Jesus.
You belong to the victors. You
belong to the conquerors. Phil.
4:13, “I can do all things in Him
that strengtheneth me.”
“Ye are of God my little chil-
dren.” If you are Born Again, you
are born from Above, and that
New Birth is the result of the Life
and nature of God that has been
imparted to you.
1 Jn. 5:12-13, “These things
have I written unto you that ye
may know that ye have eternal
life, even unto you that believe
on the name of the Son of God.”
Here is a new type of Christi-
anity. All that most of us have
ever heard has been dealing with
weaknesses and sin. It has been
condemnation and judgment.
Colossians 1:18, “He is the
head of the body, the church;
who is the beginning, the first-
born from the dead: that in all
things he might have pre-emi-
nence.” He is the head of the
body, and I am a member of the
body.
Now you visualize it. You
meditate on it. Say aloud, “I
have been delivered out of the

kingdom of darkness and failure
and weakness and I have been
translated into the kingdom of
the Son of His love. I am now
a child of God. I have the nature
and Life of God in me. That
nature of God dominates me
now.”
When you awaken in the
morning, you remember, “I am
tied up with God today. I have
God's life, God's nature in me.
I have God's strength, God's
ability, God's wisdom.” You take
God to put you over and give
you success for the day.
It will not dominate you until
you confess it. You walk about
your room now and say, “I have
the nature and life of God in me.”
If you are sick, just remember
this, that the Spirit that raised
Jesus from the dead, that touched
the dead body of Jesus, is now
in you.
Do you know that in the mind
of the Father you are a con-
queror?
In the mind of theologians you
are a failure, but they are living
in the realm of the Senses, we are
living in the realm of the Sprit.
My desire for you is that you
will come to think of yourself as
God the Father thinks of you –
think of yourself as the God of
God declares you are.
Romans 8:35, “Nay, in all
these things we are more than
conquerors.”
I am more than a conqueror,
I have come out of failure and
weakness by a supernatural act
of God into the realm of victory.
It is the Life of God coming
into you and dominating you
until your whole life is ruled
by it. ✞

How May We Know God’s Will? E. W. Kenyon

T he Word that is given to us in His Will,

and His will in specific cases can be found
in His Word, so it is imperative that we
know the Word in order to find His will for
these problems of life.
Jesus came to reveal the will of God.
That Revelation is given to us in the Word.
If you let the Word soak into you,
dominate you, then His will becomes clear
to you.
But as long as the theories of men and
Sense Knowledge hold the supremacy in
your life, you will not know His will.
Recognize the Lordship of His Word.
That will mean the Lordship of Jesus, Who
is the Word.
This will mean the Lordship of Love,
because the Lordship of Love is the
Lordship of Christ.
The Lordship of Christ is the Lordship of
the Word.
So you feed on the Word, you meditate
on the Word, you pore over the Word until
the Word becomes a part of you.
“If ye abide in me and my words abide
in you, ye shall ask what ye will and it shall
be done unto you.” Why? Because that
Word has made you wise as to what His
will is.
“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you
richly.”
That means that the Word dominates
your life. Your meditating in it causes it to
"dwell in you richly.”
“Thy Words have I hidden in my heart
that I might not sin against thee.”
Our chiefest sin is not doing something
bad, but it is letting our hearts depart from
the Word into Sense Knowledge – turning
away from the Word of God to the word
of man, getting people’s opinion on this
thought or that, rather than finding what
the Word teaches us.
It is not His will that any should perish.
1 Tim. 2:3-4, “This is good and acceptable
in the sight of God our Saviour who would
have all men be saved and come to the
knowledge of the truth.”
Some, perhaps, who are reading this
article, never have really known that they
are children of God.
They have had no clear evidence that
they have passed from death unto Life.
The Word is the only evidence that we
need. It is the ground out of which faith
grows.
You know that Isa. 53:6 is true, “All we
like sheep have gone astray, we have turn-
ed everyone to his own way and the Lord
hath laid upon Him the iniquity of us all.”
Your sins were laid upon Jesus, and
Jesus put those sins away.
With joy you confess that He is your
Saviour and your Lord, and because He
is your Saviour and Lord, you know that
you are in God's family.
Take your place as a child of God.
Tell your loved ones that you know that
God is your Father and that you are His
Child. You are in His family.
Feed on His Word so that you may grow
in grace and the knowledge of His Will. ✞

Visiting the Father E. W. Kenyon

O ne of the most beautiful

things about Jesus’ earth walk
was His continual breaking
away from people, going off
alone somewhere in the moun-
tains, or down by the seashore
to visit with His Father.
He spent more time than we
have ever appreciated, not in
prayer, as we talk about prayer,
but in visiting, fellowshipping,
communing with His Father.
When we think of prayer,
we think of laboring, struggling,
and crying for some objective,
oftimes our own, to satisfy some
desire of our own heart.
There is nothing wrong
with that, but if we have never
yet taken time to visit with the
Father, we have been losing
one of the rarest privileges that
belongs to us.
I visit Him by sitting down
with His Word, reading it,
meditating on it.
The Word is a living thing.
You read it and it will fill you
with new thoughts. The Word
will begin to think in you.
As you talk
it, act it, or
write it, it thinks
through you, it enriches itself,
it multiplies as Luke tells us in
Acts 12:14. “The Word of God
grew and multiplied.”
I found that it does another
thing that is suggested in Acts
19:20. “So mightily grew the
Word of the Lord and prevailed.”
It prevails over physical in-
firmities. It prevails over our
weaknesses, over doubts and
fears.
As we sit and visit with the
Father through the Word, the
Word multiplies and becomes
a dominant force in us.
How it thrills us. How it
feeds our spirits. How it enrich-
es our vision of life.
How it inspires love until
all the old bitterness and hard-
ness that has come to us by
contacts with unsavory people
disappears and we stand clothed
in the fulness of love.
There is nothing like a little
visit with the Father. ✞

to the next. It is about being guided through
the difficulties of this life.
The Lord is my Shepherd, I will not want.
Here is a promise that we will have His
guidance in life. What will we not want?
Guidance. My sheep know my voice.
Another’s voice they will not follow. Have you
ever declared that you know your Shepherd’s
voice and another’s voice you will not follow? It’s your
heritage to be led by the Spirit. Claim your rights in
Christ!
He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He
leads me beside the still waters.
The first place He wants to lead us is to a quiet place
of rest where He can comfort us and speak to our hearts.
If you never take time to be alone with the Father, you
will go through life hoping for the best, but never having
the assurance that He is guiding your life. Waiting quietly
in His presence gives Him an opportunity to reassure our
hearts that we are in His will and walking in His ways.
This puts a confidence in us that cannot be shaken.
He restores my soul.
Life’s up and downs can upset us. The enemy seeks to
shake us from our rest in Christ. But as we come back to
the spiritual green pastures and still waters and lay down
our burdens, He restores our soul. Anxiety and drained
emotions are replenished and renewed. He imparts
courage to us and we are ready to continue fighting the
good fight of faith.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for His
name’s sake.
As we learn to wait quietly on the Lord, He gently
impresses us with direction. It isnít always a voice, but
just a gentle impression indicating a direction. We have
peace about the course we are considering. It seems right.
We have submitted it to Him. We honestly desire His will
be done. Now our sense is to go forward and follow this
Peace. Our Shepherd is leading us. He is our Righteous-
ness and our fellowship with Him causes us to walk in
Righteousness. He is now leading us.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow
of death, I will fear no evil.
The enemy may throw the shroud of darkness over the
circumstances of my life. But we know that however
many may be the afflictions of the Righteous, the Lord my
Shepherd will lead me out of them all. I will fear no evil.

For You are with me. Your rod
and Your staff they comfort me.
He who said He would never
leave me or forsake me is with me.
I go through nothing alone. His
rod — His weapon to drive away
the enemy — and His staff — which
supports, holds me up and directs me,
assures me that the shadows of death will
be overcome by His Light as He shines His mercy
upon me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence
of my enemies.
My Shepherd is teaching me to not fear the enemies
of my soul. He meets me with His provision right in front
of my enemies. I am becoming established in Christ and
my fears are being swallowed up by His reassuring pres-
ence. How comfortable can my enemies be when He is
at my side?
You anoint my head with oil.
I’m walking with the Comforter. The Holy Spirit has
anointed me. I’m indwelt by the Spirit and clothed with
Him. I’m learning to yield to His anointing and move out
of self reliance into depending on the Greater One who
is in me. I am anointed by Jesus with the Holy Spirit.
My cup runs over.
I am blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
All things that pertain to life and godliness have been
given to me in the promises of God. I am rich in Christ.
I take my place raised with Him and seated with Him.
His “all authority” has been delegated to me. I reign in
Life through Him.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the
days of my life.
God is good and His mercy endures forever. My
destiny is a progressive unveiling of my Father’s goodness
and mercy. The future looks good. He is my future and I
shall know Him better as the future unfolds.
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
I am taking my place in Him now. I will be in Christ
forever. I have already entered into my eternal identity.
I am a New Creation in Christ, the Workmanship of God.
I have been created for good works that my Father
planned beforehand that I should walk in. He leads me
to fulfill my destiny. He is my Shepherd; I do not lack
His guidance and direction. I am secure in Him. ✞

I am to be a part of this Program and if I fail in my part, I
make it harder for others to go on with the work that God has
dreamed for them.
So, I have made up my mind to fill my place and fill it to
the limit and I will make the Master say at the end
“Well done, thou good and faithful one.”
Find Your Place
I pray God will make you, as you read this,
to say in your heart, “Master, show me my
place and with joy I will fill it.”
There will never be any tears like the tears
of the failure.
I do not want to appear before the Master
empty-handed.
You do not want to appear before Him with-
out having done something to win His approval.
Don’t Go Empty-Handed
When a cup of cold water given in His Name will bring
reward, it doesn't seem as though any of us should go
empty-handed.
You do not have to be a preacher or a millionaire. You
can give one-tenth of what you earn and that tenth can be
used to His Glory and bring a reward to you.

Don’t spend another day without helping
someone. Can’t you see your privilege?
You can do something if you will.
There are lonely hearts that need you.
Ask the Father to help you fit into His Program that
you may become a real blessing to others.
Say in your heart today, “I am in the Eternal Program
of the Eternal God. I will not fail Him who trusts me!”
The Glory of it! The Wonder of it! The Grace of it! God
