The coronavirus or COVID-19 pandemic is a devastating health crisis that may be

the most challenging issue that our country ever faced. This said virus came all the way
from Wuhan, China and is said to have originated from a Pangolin. However, this is not
only a health crisis, it is also an economic crisis. Since the pandemic struck, our
economy started declining. Most notably, private businesses shut down, a variety of
restaurants, and even fast food chains have closed. The very building blocks of our
economy disappeared, and just like that, our economy declined. Terminated
employees, people with no salary, children with no education, and the most devastating
of all, lives have been lost.

Healthcare for non-COVID patients has been near to impossible. Intensive care
units are at full capacity. Our health care workers, although appreciated by the people,
were failed by our very own government, they were underpaid, yet overworked.
Shortages of hospital rooms, and it even came to a point where the hospitals are forced
to decline patients because they are already at maximum capacity. One by one, the
weaknesses of our country’s healthcare are being exposed. Despite the terror we are all
facing, there are still people who only think of themselves. Opportunists hoarding
supplies that lead to a huge shortage of supplies and price of essential health kits have
gone up drastically.

This pandemic has brought our country to shambles. Exposed our weaknesses one
by one, and forced us to a point of distraught that may take long for us to recover. We
must not fret, we shall support each other during these times. Be the pillar to those who
have fallen, be the light to those in the dark, and be the guide to those who are lost.
