Hood Alignment
The hood can be adjusted fore-and-aft and side-to-side
by loosening the hinge retaining bolts. After
adjustment, tighten bolts to 1 1-19.5 N-m (8-14 Ib-ft).

Latch Adjustment
Before adjusting the hood latch, make sure that the
hood is properly aligned.
Adjust latch up or down to obtain proper closing and a
flush fit of hood with fenders.
Remove safety latch guide.
Loosen hood latch retaining bolts in radiator
support until they are just loose enough to move

latch from side-to-side.
Move latch from side-to-side to align it with hood SCREW

Tighten hood latch retaining bolts to 7-10 N-m

Removal
Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02.
Remove tire and wheel assembly.
Remove screws securing fender inner splash
shield to fender.
Remove parking lamp assembly. Refer to Section
17-01.
Remove front bumper. Refer to Section 0 1-19.
Remove fender retaining bolts.
Removefender.

lnstallation
1. lnstall fender.
2. lnstall bolts securing fender to body. Tighten bolts
to8-11.5N.m(71-101 Ib-in).
3. lnstall front bumper. Refer to Section 01-19.
4. lnstall parking lamp assembly.
5. lnstall inner fender splash shield and retaining
screws. Tighten to 2-3 N.m (18-26 Ib-in).
6. lnstall wheel and tire assembly. Refer to Section
04-04.

Removal and Installation
1. Remove push pins and seal(s).
2. Install seal(s) with push pins.

Removal
1. Open hood and support in open position. Mark
hood hinge locations on inside of hood.
2. Protect body with covers to prevent damage to
paint.
3. Remove two outer screws retaining cowl vent
SECTION A screen.
4. Have assistant support hood and remove screw
retaining hinge to hood, taking care not to allow
hood to slip when screws are removed.

1. Open hood and install prop rod. Mark hood hinge
locations on inside of hood.
2. Protect body with covers to prevent damage to
paint.
3. Have assistant support hood. Remove bolts
retaining each hinge to hood. Be careful not to let
hood slip when bolts are removed.
4. Remove hood from vehicle. 2 REQ'D
5. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Adjust as
outlined.
5. Remove hood.
6. Remove two outer screws from cowl vent screen
to access rear hinge bolt.

Installation
1. Position hinges to cowl panel. Install retaining
bolts. Tighten to 10-25 N-m(8-18 Ib-ft).
2 . With an assistant, position hinge to hood and
install two retaining bolts. Tighten to 11-19.5 N.m
(8-14 Ib-ft). N8280-A
3. Install two outer screw5 retaining cowl vent
Disengage cable and bushing from latch levsr.

Removal and Installation

3. Check hood for proper closing and latch for Hood Release Cable

Removal
Open hood and install prop rod.
Remove hood latch. Disconnect cable end as
outlined.
To aid in cable installation, fasten a length of
mechanics wire about 2.5m (8 ft) long at hood
latch end of cable.
From inside vehicle, unscrew the cable nut.
Disengage cable from latch lever and pull cable
assembly out. Do not pull mechanics wire out.
