A VALUE THAT IS IMPORTANT TO ONE OF THE CHARACTERS IN NOVEL CAPTAIN NOBODY

The novel I have read is Captain Nobody written by Dean Pitchford. This story
revolves around a ten-year-old boy, Newton Newman, who lives under the shadow of his
brother, Chris Newman. In order to be noticed by people, Newt miraculously transforms
himself into Captain Nobody costume. Throughout the challenging journey, Newt manages
to gain confidence and courage as well as being recognised by others.
Newton Newman, who acts as Captain Nobody has portrayed an important value
which is determination and it can be seen in some incidents in the novel. First and foremost,
Newt shows his determination in helping his friend to take the big bass drum on the top of
the dumpster. One of his sidekicks, Cecil, who is obsessed with drum, sees a big bass drum
on the dumpster. He calls for Newt to seek for his help. As we know, Newt is a one who is
acrophobic. However, he is determined to fulfil his sidekick’s dream. He conquers his fear of
high, climbing up the dumpster carefully and passes the big bass drum to his friend who
waits for him with his opened hands. As a result, determination of Captain Nobody makes
his friend’s dream comes true. From my point of view, we should determined in achieving
our goals. Even though the process I tougher and we will face lots of challenges, we should
keep on going and never try to give up. Everything is possible if you are determined. The
man who get success not because he is smart, but determined. We will never know if we
never try. Hence, be a determined person and you will get everything you want in future.
Furthermore, Newt showcases his determined in saving Ferocious the Ferret.
Ferocious the Ferret is the ambassador of Fillmore Highschool and Newt gets a chance to be
the babysitter of the Ferret for one day. His duty is to ensure the safety of Ferocious the
Ferret. When Newt and his two sidekicks, Cecil and JJ, walk home from school, Ricky and his
classmates block their way. Ricky signs his friend to scramble the door of the cage so
Ferocious the Ferret can escape from the cage and he manages to do so. Ferocious the
Ferret gets away from the cage. Newt and his two sidekicks chase after Ferocious the Ferret
until arrive a busy highway. Ferocious the Ferret jumps into the busy traffic. Newt is
determined to save it from the danger as Ferocious the Ferret as it represents the name of
Fillmore Highschool. If something bad happens on Ferocious the Ferret, it will be the
destruction of the team and Newt will be blamed by others on his irresponsibility. He acts as
Captain Nobody risks his life and runs into the busy traffic, waving his hands crazily with the
hope that vehicles will stop. Finally, his determination manages to save Ferocious the Ferret.
In my perspective, we should sacrifice something in order to fulfil our dream. For instance,
we should sacrifice our time to do our homework and revision for getting flying colours. We
will put lots of efforts to achieve our dream as the favourable result will not come to you if
you do not put effort in your dream. Therefore, never ever to complaint the difficulties.
In short, Newt has portrayed his determination in some evidences that benefits to
him and the people around. Captain Nobody is an amazing master piece of literature and I
strongly suggest it to the teenagers.
