INTRODUCTION

‘Renewability is a genuine asset for practical productivity’. Currently,

electricity is the main medium of the world’s daily rally. From lights to sounds,

from engineering to medicine, and from phones to computers, it is undeniable

that electricity, for this era, composes a huge chunk of foundation for people’s

day-to-day lives. Accordingly, as the law of commerce applies, ‘The greater the

demand, the higher the supply, and since we live in a third-world country,

comes the increase in its price,’ and they seem obliged to follow such concept

because doing otherwise would be a loss on their part. However, they are too

blinded by the fact that the effort we are exerting each and every day of their

lives can be harnessed for them to be exempted of such commercial

manipulation. That is why it is the solemn duty of the researchers to lessen the

burden of the society, and probably beyond, by applying the law of mechanical-

electrical conversion principles. By doing so, the researchers are devising an

equipment, with the main parts including 4 motors and a crankshaft, that

would convert the naturally renewable footsteps, the mechanical energy, to

electricity, the electrical output. Through this, the country generally relying on

the unending current of electricity and finances, would, somehow, consider a

subtle way of absolving such liability, bringing it to a luminously prosperous

future, free from one of the most demanding disbursement of this generation.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The study aims to answer and discuss the following questions, using

experimental measures;

1. How efficient are the ‘Electric-Generating Dynamo-Piezo-Powered

Staircase’ in comparison to the overall usage of the traditional electric

source (e.g. power outlets, power banks, solar panels, etc.), statistically,

technologically, and resourcefully?

2. What factors should be considered when choosing the locale for the

equipment?

3. How sufficient is it for educational and academic utility?

4. What are the potential hazards that must be put into consideration by

the students and its users?

5. In comparison to the traditional emergency source, how natural and eco-

friendly is the said equipment?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE PROBLEM

The main purpose of this research is to uncover the useful utilities of

harnessing the renewable resources, footsteps, into converting electricity, and

act as an efficient substitute for emergency electric source.

Students. One of the primary beneficiaries for the proposed project are

the students for it is the sole objective of this study to suffice and provide the

students an emergency supply of electricity in the absence of the traditional

emergency electric source such as power bank, outlets, power generators etc.

Furthermore, students are one of the vast majority electronic gadget users and
any of the sorts in fulfilling the requirement for their educational rally.

Regarding this, it might be a huge help in their part both financially and

availably.

Households. With its adequate capacity of electric provision, practicality

comes with the utility of such equipment. Since the common dilemma of every

household is the demanding financial aspects of emergency electric supplies,

including electric generators. Owing to this fact, households are inclusive to

the major benefits of such equipment for, nowadays, households are crawling

with numerous electronic gadgets and such appliances that they are barely

regarded as so without such. Since then, it is a practical exploitation of the

equipment on the said settings.

Researchers. As the equipment of this study is purposed for the

simplification of emergency electric supplies, researchers attempting to devise

the same study would be given useful principles of the same field. Accordingly,

their improvisation of the scale and magnitude of the equipment might come to

an extensive continuation.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION

This study will exhibit an experimental research concerning the efficiency

of ‘Electric-Generating Dynamo-Piezo-Powered Staircase’ as a substitute for

power-generating supplies in case of emergency. The researchers will be

targeting the Grade 12 Saint Peter – STEM class as their subjective locale. The

focus of this study is to measure the efficiency of the equipment in its

substitution to emergency electric supplies.

This study will only cover the Grade 12 Saint Peter – STEM class in Holy

Cross High School only, thus, not going further to other strands, grade levels,

and sections. The researchers chose the said locale with regards to its

convenience and due to the fact that most of the students belonging here are

highly utilizing electronic resources with their laptops, phones, gadgets, etc. in

the completion of their school works. This study will overlook the efficiency of

the equipment in times of electrical absence, regarding the extreme educational

workloads of the students in the said section.

DEFINITION OF TERMS

1. Crankshaft – a shaft driven by a shaft.

2. Dynamo - a machine for converting mechanical energy into electrical

energy, typically by means of rotating coils of copper wire in a magnetic

field.

3. Exploit – make full use of and derive benefit from.

4. Electricity – a form of of energy resulting from the existence of charged

particles (such as electrons and protons), either statistically as an

accumulation of charge or dynamically as a current.

5. Mechanical – relating to physical forces or motion.

6. Piezoelectric – electric polarization in a substance (especially certain

crystals) resulting from the application of mechanical stress.

7. Power – energy produced by mechanical, electrical, or other means and

used to operate a device.
