Lucy Kalantari will bring lightness to your heart and a warm smile to your
face with Pockets Full of Joy , a collection of ukulele ditties with a 1920s
flair about the wonders of love, being a mom, and babies. It has earned a
place in The Best Kids Music of 2014 , by Cooper & Kid.
Pockets Full of Joy was born out of a songaweek project in 2013.
Drawing inspiration from adventures with her newborn, she found herself
with a handful of kidfriendly ukulele songs and began to perform Baby
House Concerts for moms and their babes. Sophisticated enough for
adults and irresistible to children, Pockets has an elegantly sparse
arrangement of ukulele, clarinet (Linus Wyrsch), bass (Jay Foote), and
drums (Rich Kulsar), nestled with laidback tones reminiscent of Billie
Holiday. You’ll find yourself bopping to the rhythms and singing along to
the memorable melodies before they’re over.
Since 2000, Lucy has released 3 albums under the pseudonym Luciar.
While Luciar sings about the pain and turmoil of love lost on the piano, in
