Course Description

This course is a study of object-oriented systems, including systems analysis and design
and programming techniques. A clear presentation of the concepts, skills, and techniques
students need to become effective systems analysts who work with others to create
information systems for businesses is provided. Use of a systems development cycle
model as an organizing tool provides students with a strong conceptual and systematic
framework.

Course Objectives
After completion of the course the student should be able to:
1. Understand systems development in an organizational context
2. Understand coverage of current practices as well as accepted concepts and
principles of object oriented software development.
3. Describe foundations of object oriented systems.
4. Perform an object oriented systems analysis, design, development and
implementation.

Prerequisite: CITA 210 or permission from the instructor.

Class Procedure
The class will be conducted in the form of lectures, discussions and presentations. Some
lectures, discussions and presentations will be on WEBCT . Students will contribute
through class participation and assignments.

Grading Policy

The course’s overall grade will be a combination of quizzes, homework


assignments/projects, and three tests. The weighting will be a follows: quizzes 10%, class
participation 10%, homework assignments/projects 40%, tests will be 40%. Students
should submit their homework assignments on due dates. Late assignments will be down
graded for each day late. Attendance to all class meetings is obligatory. Continued
absence will result in a failing grade. Please read the attendance policy in the academic
handbook. Class participation is expected from students. Failure to participate in class
discussion leads to lose of points, up to 10% or beyond of the overall grade.

Grade distribution will be as follows:

A = 90% - 100%
B = 80% - 89%
C = 65% - 79%
D = 50% - 64%
F = 0% - 49%
Classroom Behavior

Students are expected to adhere to proper class decorum. While class participation and
discussion is greatly encouraged on the topic at hand, disruptive behavior will not be
tolerated. Any behavior that affects the proper conduct of the class may result in removal
from the course and/or the assignment of a failing grade.
