Welcome to use Electronic Colposcope!

With the rapid development of electronic information technology and medical diagnostics technology, as an
ideal and convenient diagnose method in gynaecological examination,colposcopy has gone through the
hand-held optical magnifier,binocular observation with optical magnifier and observation image in monitor
by camera system,which brought more convenient for clinical diagnosis of gynaecological.The rapid
development of current medical electronic imaging technology will undoubtedly bring new development
space and trend for Colposcope,the era of gathering Colposcope and the latest high-speed computer image
processing software into one digital Colposcope has come,gynaecology images technology will develop
rapidly towards "all-digital technology".

Electronic Colposcope is a representation of new generation which used digital electronic imaging
technology into Colposcope, it's the latest high-tech product which has been applied to gynaecological
examinations.This system broke through the limit of traditional vaginal examination, the doctor only
observed the focus on the monitor,the good light source and high magnification of the image can identify the
tiniest details with some simple operations,the Electronic Colposcope can be used for diagnosis and
treatment.Also, you can use the computer colposcopy image management system to analyze,process,store
and print the image ,which brought better service for doctors and patients and more advanced methods for
clinical treatment, teaching research, forensic identification, examination and other applications.

The manual will introduce system components,performance and maintenance methods in detail,which makes
you know and operate the system in best times.

Chapter 1 Brief Introduction

The Electronic Colposcope is the latest product which applies the digital image technique to gynecology
check.It adopts the professional hardware equipments of the SONY company in Japan and the system
software of our company.Our Electronic Colposcope has some advantages, such as clear and exact imaging,
no distortion image color, high magnification, large screen display for identifying hairlike focus easily, also
through image processing system with Chinese version of WindowsXP, you can
freeze,collect,store,contrast,print and browse pictures,etc.At the same time,you can store,review and print the
case with forceful and convenient case management system, even index,edit,modify and delete operation,etc.
All of that could bring tremendous convenience for clinical check and diagnosis.

1.1 Function Composing


Image collection observation: the function of real-time image display,capture,freeze,store,delete etc; video
zoom in,zoom out,automatic focusing,manual focusing,light intensity control,green backlight and white
backlight,indoor and outdoor modes,white balance calibration operation etc.

Contrast analysis:More than 170s standard diagrams and diagnosis opinions are used for analyzing the
current case,finding standard diagram database and saving the current diagram to standard diagram database
which is convenient for future diagnose.

Edit the diagnosis report:patient's information,clinical processing,diagnosis opinion etc. can be edited and
modified, conveniently you can create two pictures of stand diagnosis report fleetly,also create a big single
report and save the current case to database.

Case management:you can save all related contents about the case, enquire the case database with various
ways(as case number, name, age, date.etc.),open the current case to analyse in detail,edit,modify,delete and
print.

System installation

Firstly,connect the wedge and the column.

Then, insert it to five-star feet and tighten with bolt and gasket,add the buckle cover.

Finally, set up the bracket, screw the adjustable handle into the column.

Take out the socket in adjustable handle,tighten the socket and the host ,then clip it in the socket of the
adjustable handle.

The connection and function of the controlling interface:

Red 6-core raymer socket:insert one side of the USB raymer into the raymer of host,the other side into the
standard USB2.0 interface of the computer. This interface transmits the video signal of the CCD camera to
the computer.

Power input:Connect the adapter (12V )socket with the power interface of the host.

Chapter 3 Software Operating Guidelines

This chapter will systematically introduce the operations, please read them carefully.

3.1 System Startup

After the above procedures are followed, we can start the software. Click startup button, there’ll be an image
on the screen, click the image to enter the Startup window shown as in 3-2.

3.2 Create a New Case

Among the operation panel,there are many gray buttons which indicate that they’re not operable.Click ,

a dialog box appears, click , press <Ctrl>,then <blank> (sometimes may press <Shift>),then loosen
them at the same time to input patients’ name here, click other dialog boxes to input more specific
information about the patient.

You can input information directly,such as Name, Age and so on, and select your need by clicking the
triangle. You can also click the designation on the left, and then select your need. There are some subjects
that you needn't to input ,such as Number and ExamTime.

As ( ) needs to input letter or reserve "0",use character types,so for exact query,the digit of case

information must be same,if the digit is not enough,then supply "0" in front of it.For example,the ( )

is four digit letters,then the input form is similar with: 0005,00b5.If the uses five digit letters,then

the input form is similar with 00005,000b5.At the same time,you should pay attention to the input format of
"Date","Time" which should be similar with “2008-08-02” if the digit is not enough,please supply "0" for
it,as 8 changes to 08.

Click to display more detail information,such as address, telephone, the patient's occupation,

company, etc,which will be saved in case database for future reference.Click to the capture
window,including video window,operation panel and preview window.Video window can display video with
dynamic image, operation panel where you can carry out various operations and preview window which
displays image thumbnails. So far, we create a new case.

3.3 Modify Case Information


If there's an input error in the patient information, click in operation panel(which
displays patient's name,sex,age,NO. etc.) to open the case modification dialog box, after revision, click
to return.

You can create a new case by clicking < >,its information is similar with the current record from case

database, which saves the time to re-input information.

3.4 Bright and Contrast Adjustment


You can adjust the bright and contrast by dragging the glide square,Generally, we will weaken the brightness
and enhance the contrast.

3.5 Video Adjustment

3.5.1 Video Adjustment in Full-screen Window

The video window will be turned to full-screen if you right-click the video window directly or click

. The image will be amplified by moving mouse to , and reduced by moving

mouse to ,(don't click mouse). Similarly, move mouse to or to adjust the focus plane
manually,(usually it needn't to adjust manually, the device will automatically adjust the focus to get the clear

images),then the device cancels auto function,until you move your mouse away from < > or < >.

Four buttons with arrowhead on the bottom right of the screen are used for adjusting focusing and
zoom,focusing or zoom will change every time after each push of the button,the middle is auto focusing
button,focusing every time after each push the button,the green button is green filter button,when clicking
it,the system will only capture the green picture,which is convenient to observe the disease,Click the white

button to its original color.Click to sample and display the image.

Right-click any place to exit the interface.

3.5.2 Video Adjustment in Normal Display Window

The same buttons will directly appear in the video display by clicking the video window ,and those buttons
have the same functions as in the full-screen window. It will exit this video window if you click the video
window again.

3.7 Capture and Process Image

3.7.1 Capture Image


1 Real-time observation and freeze observation

Click ,video window will keep the current image for the doctor’s clearer observation,meanwhile the

button is transformed into , click to return to the dynamic video window.

2 Capture

Click to capture the image in real-time video window and display its thumbnail picture in the preview
window.

Each time you capture a picture, click thumbnail image in the preview window and click the combobox to
input the picture name directly, or click the triangle point of the combobox and click any row to choose a
name to avoid image confusion after a period time.It is especially important for the similar products as
bronchoscopy.

3 Browse pictures in preview window

Drag the glide square to browse all the pictures in the preview window,which is convenient for user
choosing.

4 Delete and restore image

Right-click any picture in preview window to delete it,right-click it again to restore.

3.7.2 Image Processing


1 Enter image processing window

Click to enter image processinginterface, first four images are shown, right-click one of them to
enter the main window of image processing.

The same function with dragging one image to processing window.

2 End operation,cancel processing result

In Image processing interface,ending all operations was achieved by right-clicking the picture . If you are not
content with the picture processed ,drag the same picture (blue frame) from preview window to image
window again.

3 Replace image

Click to enter image contrast interface, four images are shown and right-click one of them to image
processing window or drag another picture from preview window to processing area.

4 Image processing panel

The upper part of the main image processing window is the processing panel , which incorporates many
image processing buttons. The grayness figure in the lower condition strip indicates the color of mouse’s
current position.

5 Area selection(ROT)

Move the mouse in a start point on the picture, drag to the end point to get a rectangular broken-line box,
then select only the target area. If there’s no area selected, the whole image will be processed.

6 False color process

Move the mouse to , a false color filter panel appears. Drag the glide square to process the selected
image. Click red, green, blue color filter, the other colors will be filtered out.

7 Brightness, contrast adjustment

Move mouse to ,the adjustment panel of brightness, contrast appears, drag the glide square to adjust
brightness and contrast. This adjustment won’t effect the brightness and contrast of the video window.

8 Filter

Move mouse to ,there are some options for the image which you want to process,such
as<Smooth>,<Line>,<Blur>,<Edge>,<histogram>,<Experience>,<emboss>.

9 Transform

Move mouse to <Transform> ,there are some options as following:

<Magnify> :When you click the <Magnify>,there will be a square area on the picture which follows the
mouse’s movement and magnifies the image,then click the mouse to copy the magnified image,at

last,right-click to exit.

<Invert>:Click<Invert>, the picture will be transformed into a picture like a negative film.

<Vmirror>and <Hmirror> will turn the image upside down or swap it.

<RotateCW>and<RotateCCW> mean rotating the picture clockwise and anticlockwise.

<DSA>and<Overlay>paly a role of combining two pictures.

Click < >,you can use a brush(you can select the colour and the thickness of the brush)

10 Measure

Before you measure the picture, the scale should be set first.

Click and input the actual distance in a scale dialog box beforehand, system will record the
fixed scale.

Length measure: click , click left key of mouse at the starting point to drop it at the ending point.

Girth and square measure: Click , then click mouse to draw a line surrounding the targeted area to get
the girth and acreage of the area.

Angle:click ,then click mouse to draw a line of angle to its vertex,then draw from the vertex of the
angle to the other end of the angle.

FormPE: the method of measuring FormPE is the same as area's.

Click to draw a rectangle in where needs to label,the rectangle can be moved if the location is
error.Then click " ",after input the text needs to label in the textbox,use the mouse to click the location
needs to label,the text can be moved if the location is error.

12 Map

Map shows the color change in a intuitionistic way, distribution of the grayness figure reflects the
diversification of the three original color (red, green, blue ) and the grayness of a line, histogram reflects the
grayness distribution of a certain area, in another word, either there’re more light points or more dark points.

Click the or , draw lines in where needs to be refiected (paint line in grayscale

distribution, closed curve in histogram), if you want to save results, click or right-click the pictures.

13 File

The file menu can save the whole image or only save the current selection area(ROT),you can revert the
current image to the original picture,besides it can input or output the imagesaved as other
pictures),communicate with the external world by other paths.

14 Exit

Right-click anywhere in the picture to end the current operation, click <Exit> to come back to the operation
panel.

3.7.3 Compare

Click to enter image comparison window.Image comparison function provides the user a typical
image bank, to which the captured image could be compared with, also a standard description text bank is
provided. The appropriate texts could be educed into the report to save doctor’s time and improve work
efficiency.

1 Image comparison

There is a area named ,click “+” in front of the standard bank of the
system to open the catalogue and you can select a topic to open a picture for comparing.

2 Copy the text to the record

The symptom description is shown in the description text box when the image is opened, click ,

all the texts will be educed into the text box in the left, which will be automatically brought to the diagnosis
report of the patient. You can also choose part of the description text in this way: choose the selected texts
with the mouse, click it and drag it into the text box in the left.

3 Replace the comparison image

Click the small triangle at the bottom of the screen , the pictures will be cycled

and replaced. Or click to open the preview window and choose a picture(also dragging), click

again to close the preview window.

4 Report

Click to enter report window and bring the selected description into the report panel.

5 Exit

Click < > to return to the image capturing window.

3.8 Finalize Reports

Click to enter report window, it adopts the design style of what you see is what you get for the

convenience of the doctors, so that a preview is not needed. It could operate and print in a fixed report format
or define a new report format to meet the work requirement.

3.8.1 Add Image to the Report

Click ,then the system will switch among preview window,mode and format window. Drag the image
in the preview window to the image box of the report. If you want to replace the picture in the report with the
other which is from the other place by Right-clicking a image box, the other images could be opened.

3.8.2 Input Texts in Report

The patients’ information stored when a new case is established could be automatically brought to
the diagnosis report, amendments and supplement (also can be done here).

Texts could be input into all the text boxes directly. Click the inverse triangle in the text boxes, there will be
options for choosing, Press F10, texts ,input in the next time, could be added into the options; press F11 to
delete,editing multi-line text box is similar with windows, use <PageUp> and <PageDown> in the keyboard
to scroll, you can also use the mouse wheel to scroll.

3.8.3 Shortcut Mode

Right-click anywhere in the report where text could be input, the shortcut mode appears.Select the pane to
add text to the textbox.

You also could process the examination text in the report. Firstly,click ,then you could

<clip> ,<copy>,<delete> and so on.you can also set the font of the text by clicking .

You can modify the format which supports the professional idea to your report after set the "short mode", the
format is fit for simple and common description(common words and difficult symbol),import,delete can be
done by selecting it or not,import also can use append or cover mode.The mode contents can be
modified,besides it can import the mode title.This mode is corresponding to the text box in the report, every
text box has a corresponding shortcut mode, which provides great convenience to the user.

3.8.4 Mode Operation
1 Mode window

Click to shift between mode and report format, click in mode and report
format window to display mode window.The "mode" which is classed with pathological changes or body is
used for a whole description.

2 Select mode title

Click the left <+> of mode,dictionary,standard library,then many subdirectories will appear,click the title
without plus sign,the textbox will display the corresponding text description,also you can input the keyword

in search textbox,click to find a mode contained keyword,click again to find next mode
continuously.

3 Enter report while selecting the title.

If didn't been selected,then these models' text will enter report synchronously.If select it,these
templates text will not enter report.Generally let the texts enter report untill get the approving template,then
click to select other templates,use the following methods to append,modify the contents in report.

4 Load the model's text into the report

Selec all text in model's text-box to drag to the report,you can also use <Ctrl>+<C> and <Ctrl>+<V> to
copy and paste to the report.

Click ,the model's text will be moved into the examination of the report,click ,the
model's text will be moved into the suggestion box of the report.

You can also drag the selected text to another place in the report.If dragging while pressing <Ctrl> key, then
the text can be copied and moved.

5 Row and block selection

Click to select the text with row form,click to select it with block form.Row selection is fit
for universal lemma,Which is formed temporarily a new description by selecting the different
lemmas.Whose virtue is that it can select several interval rows.But it only can drag to the end of the
textbox,and its font lies on the definition of the report format.Block selection is fit for a whole
description,whose virtue is that font,color,size can be preestablished,and they can have the different settings
in a section,namely they can be typesetted in advance.It can be dragged to any position while dragging,and
the font is same.

6 Java standard library picture

Click to display the picture,if you want to add the picture in template to the report, drag it to the
picture box of the report.

3.8.5 Switch Report Format

Click to display its window.

Click to open report format window as in figure 3-19, click + to open the catalogue, click a
certain format to open it. If you are accustomed to a certain format, select this, click default format box, next
time you’ll have this default format entering into a report.

3.8.6 Print Report

Click , the print dialog will appear; click content, adjust relevant parameters(contents of this dialog

box will be determined by the type and brand of the printer), click to print the report(For details
about printing, please refer to Microsoft system instructions, for information about printer setting and
operation please refer to printer instructions)

3.8.7 Create a new Record, Start next Examination

Click to exit the report interface,return to operation panel, click again to start next
inspection. Before create new cases,please save the picture and report of current case., then click <yes> to
save the current case, or click <no>.

When Exit report interface, the system automatically generates the final report file rep.jpg, using standard
JPG file format,does not require any special browser software,you can double-click "My Computer" to
open.As adopting compression format to facilitate online communication, so you can also open it in IE
browser.

3.8.8 Finish Examination,Exit or Turn off

If finished examination,please select to exit and turn off. Then turn off monitors,
printers and other peripherals power.You must turn off whenbreak in noon or off duty in afternoon.

3.9 Management and Backup

3.9.1 Enter Case Managing Interface

The software provides a forceful and convenient case management function, the input and storage are
completed directly by the software. So far, the users have dealt with database, but the software has saved all
the information(including images and texts) into the case database which was set up automatically. What you

need to do now is query and open the cases, the software also provides convenient enquiry tools.

Click on operation panel of the image capture window, you’ll see the above window. The upper part
is the case list, all cases are listed here, Double-click anywhere on the case list to increase the display size to
show more cases, but the preview window will be hided. Double-click the report to magnify it, double click
it again to deflate it.

When entered the system, it only displays new record today,if need to find case,please query firstly.

3.9.2 Query

listed.All records are the queried result.

2 Field query condition

A condition is corresponding to a field in database,you can input more conditions at one time,then combine
every condition to query,which is called the combination query.

Exam time and Register time always participate in query.

Input upper and lower limit of the field,means "from ... to ...", or "in between ... and ...", when the value in
the left textbox is same with the right,it means to query "equal" condition,when the value in the left textbox
is blank,it means there is no lower limit,to query "less than" condition,when the value in the right textbox is
blank,it means there is no upper limit,to query "more than" condition.If the record you want to query doesn't
input the field (the field is blank) before saved,then the field can not be found, please don't select it.

Such as "Lili" doesn't create by register(the "Reg time" is blank),nor doesn't input case NO.(NO. is
blank),then if you want to query "Lili","Reg time" needs to select "all times",and don't select the Number.

As hospital NO.,bed NO.need to input letter or reserve "0",use character types,so for right query,the digit of
case information must be the same,if the digit is not enough,then supply "0" in front of it.for example,the
hospital NO is four digit letters,then the form of query condition is similar with:from 0005 to 0238.at the
same time,you should pay attention to the input format of "date","time" is similar with “2008-08-02”,the
digit is not enough,please supply "0" for it,as 8 changes to 08.see the second item in chapter three.

Input content field means that the field contains text"...", this is known as fuzzy query,which is easy for
finding a particular record.

3 Apply after query condition

Click the field textbox needs to query,input the upper and lower limits or contents,click "apply" to
query.Such as click the left textbox of the examination NO.,input 5,click the right textbox to input "10",then
click Name textbox to input "Wanghong",finally click "apply" ,then all case information examine and book
in all times,examination NO. in range from 5 to 10 and name including "Wanghong" will be listed.

Special note:if select,then it will participate in query,or it will not participate in query.But "Exam time" and
"Reg time" always participate in query,if you don't query them,then click "all times",especially if "Reg time"
isn't for registering,then the Reg time is empty,if you select "This Year",then you can't find it certainly.

4 The last query results and all cases

Click <last> to the last query case(if the query condition doesn't change,then clicking "apply" means there is
no new query).The function is used for checking patients,query the cases in a few days,then open a case,enter
case managing interface after finish, then click "last" to open another case,doesn't need input the query
condition repeatedly.Secondly empty after copied with external software,such as query a case to backup it to
the E drive,then exit case interface,after finish copy to return to case interface,then click "last" to list the
query results which backup to E drive just,finally empty it.

Click "all" to query all cases rapidly.

As visual space of the form is limited,the record you want to check may be not in the list,then please pull out
the scroll bar,or click <PageUp>,<PageDown> to roll the record after click the form.

3.9.3 Observation and Print Report,Open Cases

If you only need observe the report, or directly print the report without modifying, you needn't open the case.

1 Observation: Click the case needs to observe,then it is in selected state. Then the preview report of the case
will be popped up(if this note has been generated report), Double-click the report to magnify, double-click
again to reduce.

2 Print: Click <print >,you can print the case report only if you connect with the printer.

3 Open: If you need to capture picture, edit report, etc, for example,the first appointment after referral or
diagnosis, you need to open the case, making it to the current case. Click <Open>, click <yes> or <No "(to
save or not save the current case) to view,modify,print the case.

Before open the case,if select "to report if open",then it will enter record interface,or enter capture
interface.Click to modification case interface,click"save as "> to create a record
whose information is same with the opened case,only save the time to input patient information.

If the record has backup and emptied,please see Section Four in Chapter Eight for detail.

3.9.4 Delete

Click , click <Y> only delete the selected cases.

Delete means to empty under backuping and delete the information in the list.

3.9.5 Print

Select ,click<yes> to print all the queried results, click <No> only to print the selected cases.If some
record does not generate a report formerly, there is no information to be read, and can not print.

3.9.6 Report

Click , select the segment to be printed, the report title, report doctors and so on, click <yes> to list
and print preview the search result with statement format,if satisfied,click <Print>(printer icon) to start
printing. Finally click <Close> end.

3.9.7 Register

refers to create records in advance,input information,then open it from database to sample image
and print report,booking doesn't change current record,booking is mainly fit for concentrated booking(batch
booking),and concentrated print(batch print) or net version,register workstation needs book in advance,then
capture image after open the collection workstation(the other machine) to create the record,at last,transmit to
print workstation(the other machine) to print(net printer).

Click to input information,then click to input next case information,then click

untill booking all records,then click "cancel" to exit.

3.9.8 Backup

Backup refers to copy the folder corresponding to current queried result to destination disk or CD to achieve
a great deal storage.

1 Backup to harddisk

After queried all records to be backuped,click <backup> ,<backup the queried results to>,click the triangle of
combo box,then click the driver to be backuped,such as "E: \ _HD" ("E: \" means E: root directory, "HD"
means the hard disk, connect with "_" in the middle), finally click <OK> to start backup.

When you chose to backup to CD,It is suggested to considering the "examine data" as the queried condition
to query.

Click and enter the system parameter interface,you can set the "Maxcapture" of a case and the
"showburnCDhint". If the size of the case data folder reached or exceeded 620M,the software will remind
the user to copy CD .

4 Empty after backup

Before empty the records ,please ensure that the CD can read normally.

3.10 Safety and Warranty

1 The warranty time is one year which is from the equipment purchased.
2 After acceptance of equipment commissioning,Please return the wrote warranty card to company after
completed debugging.
3 The following situations are not under warranty scope:
1) Don't obey the instructions
2) Connect with other equipments improperly
3) The accident damage;
4) Without our permission, attempt to disassemble, modify or use accessories whichdo not meet technical
requirements
5) the damage caused by system infection

Chapter 5 System Maintenance

 Work environment requirements

 Avoid placing and using near strong electromagnetic interference equipment, so as not to affect the
system use;

 Power supply has a good grounding to improve security;

 Avoid overheating source near the equipment,and there shouldn't be strong light in front of the camera;

 Avoid using in environment with humidity;

 Avoid strong direct sunlight;

 The equipment should be kept from corrosive gas and liquid;

 Keep the environment clean, well-ventilated;

 Avoid using in environment with dusty;

 Keep the System power steady;

 Working temperature should be maintained between 5 ~ 40 ℃, relative humidity should be below 80%;

 Clean the surface with tampon or soft cloth soaked in 95% alcohol or the special detergent,don't use
water or other corrosive detergent;

 Clean the Camera lens with a special cloth;

 Storage Environment

 The temporary unused equipment should be packaged for storage;

 Equipment should not be stored in high humidity environment, the relative humidity should be less than
80%;

 Ambient temperature should be maintained between -10 ~ 40 ℃.
