b) like, perpendicular and collinear forces of different magnitude
c) unlike, parallel and non-collinear forces of same magnitude
d) unlike, perpendicular and non-collinear forces of different
magnitude

Question 2. The moment of inertia of a triangular section of base ‘b’ and height ‘h’ [2 Marks]
about an axis passing through its base is ……….. times the moment of
inertia about an axis passing through its C.G. and parallel to the base?

Question 3. Point of contra-flexure is [2 Marks]

b) Where tensile force changes sign
c) Where bending moment changes sign
d) None

Question 4. The modulus of section of rectangle beam of size 240 mm × 400 mm [2 Marks]
is……………

Question 5. A simply supported beam AB having length 14 m long, loaded with two [7 Marks]
point loads of 8 kN & 6 KN at a distance of 3 m & 9.5 m respectively from
left hand support A. A clockwise moment of 100 kN-m is applied to the
beam at a distance of 11 m from right hand support B. Calculate the
deflection of the beam under the point loads. Take E = 200 GPa and
moment of inertia = 160 X 106 mm4.
