DISASSEMBLY

BACK CABINET REMOVAL (Refer to Figure 3-l) PRINTED WIRING BOARD REMOVAL
1, Take out the cassette tape from the cassette compartment. (Refer to Figure 3-2)
2. Remove the battery compartment lid and take out four 1. Remove four (4) screws retaining the main P.W. Board
(4) batteries and main switch P.W. Board.
3. Remove the tuning control, and volume control knobs.
4. Remove five (5) screws retaining the back cabinet and
lightly open it.
5. Disconnect the antenna lead wire and battery lead from
the battery terminals.
6. Then the back cabinet can be removed

1. Remove three (3) screws retaining the mechanism block.

1 Set the torque measuring reel to the turntable (to the
take-up side at play or fast forward mode and to the
supply side at rewind mode). Turntable
2. Then, rotate the reel in the same direction as for turntable
and read the torque value when the pointer is stabrlized.
3. Normal torque values are tabulated below.

AUTO STOP ADJUSTMENT


(Refer t9 Figure 64)

Make sure that the auto stop mechanism acts rightly at the
tape end.
If not, adjust the auto stop lever stroke as indicated right.

RECORD/PLAYBACK HEAD AZIMUTH ADJUSTMENT


(Refer to Figure 5-l )

1. Playback a standard tape recorded with 6.3k Hz signal on


the tape recorder.
2. Connect a 4 ohm (ZW, 5%) dummy load resistor to ex-
ternal speaker socket and connect V.T.V.M. across the load.
3. Adjust the adjusting screw so that the playback output
voltage of the recorded tape becomes maximum.

PRESSURE ROLLER PRESSURE ADJUSTMENT


(Refer to Figure 5-2)

1. With power supply turned on, push the point A with


use of tension gauge to make the pressure roller apart
from the capstan shaft. Then, gradually release the tension Point A
gauge and read its value when the pressure roller stops Roller ,Lever Spring
to rotate.
2. It is normal when the tension gauge reads 370 grams to
470 grams. If the above value is not satisfied, adjust the
pressure roller lever spring.

VOLTAGE SELECTION (GF-1760X and GF-1770X)

Before operating the unit on mains, check the pre-set


voltage. If the voltage is different from your local
voltage, adjust the voltage as follows. Slide the voltage
selector in either direction with a minus headed screw-
driver to match the local mains supply voltage.

MAIN SWITCH POSITION ADJUSTMENT

While the unit in stop mode, adjust the main switch (SW4)
position as illustrated in Figure 7-1 and 7-2. After finished
adjustment, check the main switch operates normally.
