1. GENERAL
This procedure covers minimum requirement for Hydro test of PVC interconnecting
pipe work in shop

2. APPLICABLE ITEMS
PVC interconnecting pipe work (for battery limit and spool number see PID
Draw No. Pe07-2569-DW-P100)
• DM-001-PVC-2” Pipe spool from Plant water pump to Dual Media Filter
Controller 1 & 2 (F100 A/B)

3. APPLICABLE CODE AND SPECIFICATIONS

4. PREPARATION
a. The medium of hydrostatic test
The potable water with chloride content less than 50 ppm is to be used for
hydrostatic test
b. Cleaning
Prior to filling water, pipe spool are to be thoroughly cleaned from all loose
material dirt, weld spatters, oil, grease and flux at inside and outside
c. Accessories
1. Blind flange for nozzles
2. Gasket temporary for hydro test
3. Pressure gauge
4. Inlet connection
5. Thermometer
6. Drainage connection
7. Bolt & nut
8. Pressure pump
9. Pressure recorder

NOTE : Minimum two pressure gauges and one pressure recorder are used with
graduation 1.5 up to 4 times of test pressure. Calibration status of them shall be
checked for its usability, at any time there are indications that gauges are error, they
shall be recalibrated. One of the pressure gauges shall be readily visible to the
operator

d. Safety and Environment

All personal must be wear personal protection equipment

1. Hard hat (safety helmet), the wearing of head protection at all times is
mandatory and not optional
2. Safety footwear must be worn by worker in work area
3. Safety belt or safety equipment must be supplied to person working from
a safe elevation of 2 m height
4. Use leather glove or cotton gloves for jobs that require a high degree of
protection from rough material, sharp edge

5. APPLICATION
a. The pressure Vessel to be hydrostatically tested after complete fabrication
b. Minimum hydrostatic test pressure shall be same at test pressure on the
customer specification
c. Test pressure equipment as per list of hydrostatic test page 5 of 5 and holding
time for each test 30 minutes minimum
d. Inspection to be made at all PVC pipe joints and connections at pressure not
less than the operation pressure multiply by one point five (1.5)
e. After success of testing, pressure is reduced gradually to zero and water is to
be completely removed and the inside thoroughly drained off
f. When leakage is occurred during the testing, it has to be evaluated. If
leakage needs repair then replace leakage joint with new pvc connection
g. Drying after hydrostatic test, all test medium shall be completely removed and
the inside thoroughly cleaned and dried by natural way

6. SAFETY DURING APPLICATION

a. Arrange scaffolds to tightening bolt and assembling flange, scaffold plan must
be produced by the responsible supervisor before starting scaffolding
operating
b. Inspect all tools and equipment before commencing task eg. Hydro pump,
pipe, nozzle, valve, instrument tool. Defective equipment must not be used
c. Erect a barricade type before starting work to prevent unsafe condition
d. Warning sign or poster, such as Danger no Entry, High Pressure shall be
installed
e. Drain water to the container water or waste water by plastic pipe
f. Clean up the working area every task completed and especially at the end of
each workday

9. ACCEPTANCE STANDARD
ƒ No permanent distortion
ƒ No leakage during at the test pressure and no distortion or permanent visible
damage. Except for leakage that might occur at temporary test closures. This
leakage shall be directly away from the item being tested. For PVC connection,
leakage is not allowed at the time required visual inspection
