Filipinos in the 21st century is the era of advancements. Advanced in technology,

economic growth, politics, etc. People in this time are becoming more liberate and independent.
A lot of traditions and cultures changed, some stayed and some did not. The advancement of
technology has been so evident for the past decade. Cooking, farming, and handing of
businesses have become much easier than before, with the huge help of technology. Upgraded
machineries here and there. Even the modes of transportation here levelled up, although we all
know how LRTs and MRTs in some parts of the country, especially in Manila, have become
worse and worse.

Ever since our beloved and rave heroes stood up for our rights and the freedom of
the Philippines, politics has grown so much, especially now in our generation. People finally
opened their eyes and became more aware now how dirty politics can be. From corruption
down to elected government officials. Fortunately, we have now became much braver to voice
out our complaints about the shortcomings our government does to us, referring to us as “woke”
people. Protesters increase in numbers as they can’t stand what our government does to this
country anymore.

Economics has gotten better in this country as years passed by. Businesses have
been booming everywhere, opening doors for opportunities. We’ve been trading with locals and
internationals for years now. But, reality strikes, especially now that we’re facing this pandemic.
The Philippine economy suffered its deepest contraction on record in the second quarter and
revised down its forecast for the year amid one of Asia’s strictest lockdowns against the
coronavirus. Many people lost their jobs, while others started small businesses through selling
online.

For years, we have been behind these countries who have always ran the K-12
Curriculum for their education. Fortunately, it has been implemented a few years back here in
the Philippines, it has been going on for almost 3 years now. No matter how frequent some
Filipinos complain about this, the K-12 Curriculum is and always has been needed- it’s
mandatory. I just really hope that it wouldn’t come off as just an “experimental” process for both
teachers and students.

Now, since we were colonized before, we learned to adapt their traditions and
cultures. The way we speak, dress, cook, and more. Now that we’re a free country, we still can’t
let go of these factors, especially now that a lot of artists influenced people through music,
show, and a lot more. KPOP and Korean dramas’ impact are very pronounced in our country.
Filipinos idolize these Korean artists, get addicted to dramas. This doesn’t only apply for Korea
but from other countries like America, too. Influencers from there have fans from our country.

Western shows have become famous in our country. And from simply watching, you can adapt
to the characters’ manners or behaviour.
