Situation : During this pandemic and refer to Surat edaran Nomor 4 Tahun 2020 concerning
Implementation of Educational Policy in the Emergency Period of Corona Virus. the Government
Instructed the education department to change the learning process, from class meeting learning into
an online class learning. This instruction helps the student and the teacher's Avoid Coronavirus
transmission. in this case, the change in learning methods triggers the pros and cons of the community
and institutions.

Rules for Controversy

1. I am critical of ideas, not people. I challenge and refute the ideas of opposing position, but I do not
indicate that I personally reject them.

2. Remember, we are all in this together, sink or swim. I focus on coming to the best decision possible,
not on “winning”.

3. I encourage everyone to participate and to master all the relevant information.

4. I listen to everyone’s ideas, even if I do not agree. 5. I restate what someone has said if it is not
clear 6. I first bring out all the ideas and facts supporting both sides, and then I try to put them in a
way that makes sense. 7. I try to understand all sides of the issue (Johnson and Johnson, 1987 in
Puncochar, 2014)
Yes, online learning is better than face to face class learning :

1. Flexibility

e-learning activities can be carried out anywhere as long as they have access and connections with
knowledge sources as well as directly.

2. Easy access

ease in sending material, assigning and collecting assignments, because students can choose the media
to be used (Spada, Schoology, Edmodo, WA) which is available 24 hours nonstop

‌3. A better level of understanding

Sometimes inhibiting factors of learning activities is a way of delivering a teacher's material which is
quite difficult to understand. Through e-learning students and students can search for material content
that has delivery as easy to understand as through videos and pictures.

4. Unlimited Information

in e-learning, students will always find things they do not know and they will get broader and unlimited
insight.

No, the mainstream learning process is better than the online class :

1. Lack of internet access

Some students/teachers may live in areas where internet signals are difficult. in this case, the support of
cooperation between the government and internet service providers is needed.

2. Lack of technology

Some students/teachers may have difficulties accessing the online learning process. the problems are:
they can't operate the technology and lack of tools.

3. health issues

E-learning requires computer use and other similar devices, this means that eye fatigue, poor posture,
and other physical problems can affect the learning process.

4. Isolated / isolated

Although e-learning offers convenience, flexibility and the ability to access classes remotely at their own
time, participants may feel isolated. This is because online learning is an act that is done alone for joint
activities, which might give the feeling that they are acting entirely alone, some student also get
frustrated because of it.
5. Interaction with the teacher decreases

Because the teacher's responsibility is not only to deliver the learning material. but also can help and
assist students to be able to achieve learning goals and also can ensure students are not experiencing
problems (counseling).
