Topic: Patriotism

Moral values: Students learn about the importance of patriotism to a country.

Teaching aids: reading material, laptop, projector, dictionary, worksheet.

Language aspects: vocabulary, grammar and sentence structure, pronunciation

Skills: Able to use reading skill to find the required information, writing skill, speaking skill.

Specific objectives: At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

1. More than 20 students able to understand the importance of patriotism

2. Able to use reading skill technique by 80 % accuracy

3. Able to pronounce word with 70% accuracy

4. Able to outline important points by 80 % accuracy


Sanjiya

Set Induction:

Teacher will show a video about the many races celebrating independence day together in
Kuala Lumpur

Time: 5 minutes

Teaching aids: laptop, video, projector

Teaching and learning process: the teacher will introduce to the class about patriotism by
showing a video where all races celebrating independence day in Dataran Merdeka.

Teacher will ask the students whether they are able to understand the video.

Teacher will randomly ask the students to tell the class the message that is present in the
video.

Students will respond by answering teacher’s question.

Pre- activity:

Time: 15 minutes

Teaching aids: reading material/ text

Teaching and learning process:

Teacher will select an article about patriotism in Malaysia and distributes it to the students.

Teacher will ask the students to take turn read the paragraphs in the text. While reading out
aloud, the teacher will correct them if there is any mistake in their pronunciation. Students
have to read the text with the right intonation and articulate the words correctly.

While- activity:

Time: 10 minutes

Teaching aids: worksheet

Teaching and learning process:

Teacher will distribute worksheet that contains questions in relation to the text. Students have
to answer the questions in 10 minutes.

If students come across words that they couldn’t understand the meaning, they have to refer
to the dictionary.

After students have answered the questions, the answer will be discussed immediately.

Post- activity:

Time: 10 minutes

Teaching aids: text and A4 paper.

Time: 10 minutes

Teaching and learning process:

Teacher will ask the students to make a short summary about the ways of people expressing
their love towards the country.

In their own words, students will have to write the summary in not more than 100 words.

Students have to submit the summary by the end of the lesson.

Teacher will reflect on the topic for today and randomly asks the students questions about
their level of understanding.
