Essay
The term essay comes from the French for "trial" or "attempt."

French author Michel de Montaigne invented the term when he assigned the title Essais to his
first publication in 1580.

An essay is a sort of writing, which usually shows the author's judgment, personal opinion,
analysis or research of a certain topic. While being a non-fictional type of writing, sometimes
essays include narrative and subjective thoughts. Essay varies from observations of daily life,
literature critics, and the author's thoughts and reflections to political analytic and scientific
research.

"Essays are how we speak to one another in print — caroming thoughts not merely to convey a
certain packet of information, but with a special edge or bounce of personal character in a kind of
public letter."

(Edward Hoagland, Introduction, "The Best American Essays: 1999". Houghton, 1999)

Argumentative essay
An essay has its different forms and an argumentative essay is one of them. An argumentative
essay is a type of academic writing, which has as its goal influencing someone to adopt your
point of view. In other words, this type of paper writing is intended for defending a certain
controversial thesis statement that has several pros and cons. An argumentative essay uses
evidence and facts to prove whether or not a thesis is true. It presents two sides of a single issue
and covers the most important arguments for and against.

features of argumentative essay

Precision and focus of arguments

Before we start writing on a particular topic, making a craft or an outline makes boundaries of
our topic. this outline makes our writing focused on a particular topic. Drafting out the
introduction points with the main thesis statement, writing main arguments in the body
paragraphs, and the point we're going to make in the conclusion. This frame will keep you
focused on the goal to provide precise arguments.

Evidence

If we're writing about the effects of air pollution on our environment, we cannot base your
arguments on personal opinions. we'll have to search for research studies that verify those claims.
The evidence is a crucial aspect of an argumentative paper. It's what makes the reader believe
that you have a point worthy of consideration.

Clarity and logical flow

This one is all about the style. It's not okay to use big words just to make yourself sound more
intelligent. When there's a simple word for something, using that one is better than the difficult
word that might be unknown to the reader. also, the flow of thoughts is necessary in a logical
order, this will help us in engaging our readers with our work.

structure of the argumentative essay

The argumentative essay usually comes in five paragraphs: introduction, three body paragraphs,
and conclusion.

The introduction is the part that catches the reader

most of the time teachers judge our writing by just reading the first line of the paragraph and
comes to an idea whether this should be given full marks or zero. we can start writing an essay
by defining the major terms and providing some background on the topic. Then, at the end of the
introduction, we can state our thesis in a clear, single sentence. The thesis shouldn't be an
obvious fact. It's something that you can argue and support with evidence. giving our thesis
statement with different words in different places is like to force your opinion on readers. your
valid arguments can help you influence your thinking on the readers.

The three body paragraphs give you a chance to develop

your argument
In the common structure of an argumentative essay, we show three claims; one at the beginning
of each paragraph. Then, we support those claims with arguments and facts. Another option is
presenting two claims supported with facts, and using the third body paragraph for showing and
defying opposing opinions.

The conclusion cements your thesis

In conclusion, we restate our thesis statement and remind the reader how important this issue is.
we connect all threads into a logical ending, which leaves the reader with an impression that they
have learned something new. The conclusion should be logical and based on all arguments we
presented throughout the body of the paper.

conclusion

an essay is a written form of communicating in which the author talks about his personal opinion
and thoughts. an essay can be a debate in which a writer argues on a specific topic to convey his
message to the readers by defending his thought or opposing. usually, an essay contains 5 or 6
paragraphs including 1 introductory paragraph 3 or 4 body paragraph and 1 paragraph in which
we conclude out topic. each essay has a thesis statement and each paragraph has one main topic
