COURSE TITLE: Life and Works of Rizal

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course is intended to provide students with an introduction of the national hero’s life by looking at his
works. It pursues the interest in understanding the hero’s nationalist thought by providing the students with selected
readings of historical and theoretical relevance.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course, the student is expected to:

1.     Understand the life, works and writings of Rizal particularly his moral and intellectual legacies to the Filipino youth.
2.     Know the relevance of Rizal's teachings to contemporary situations.
3.     Gain inspiration and insight from the experience of Rizal as a son, student, patriot and nationalist.
4.     Imbibe the spirit of patriotism and nationalism.

METHODOLOGY:

Classroom lectures/ discussions


Individual and group reporting
Film viewing and field exposures

COURSE REQUIREMENT

This course will seriously require students for critical analyses toward argumentations and discussions
during classes, which will greatly rely on lectures, readings and studies printed in professional journals.
