1. What is Maximum Zero Fuel Weight?

Maximum zero fuel weight (MZFW) is the maximum weight allowed before usable fuel and
other specified usable agents (engine injection fluid, and other consumable propulsion agents)
must be loaded in defined sections of the aircraft as limited by strength and airworthiness
requirements. It may include usable fuel in specified tanks when carried in lieu of payload. The
addition of usable and consumable items to the zero fuel weight must be in accordance with the
applicable government regulations so that airplane structure and airworthiness requirements are
not exceeded.

2. What is Maximum Take-off Weight?

Maximum Takeoff Weight (MTOW) or Maximum Takeoff Mass of an aircraft is the maximum
weight at which the pilot of the aircraft is allowed to attempt to take off, due to structural or
other limits. The analogous term for rockets is Gross Lift-Off Mass, or GLOW. MTOW is usually
specified in units of kilograms or pounds, but some aircraft manufacturers also use kilogram-
force (kgf) or pound-force (lbF).

MTOW is the heaviest weight at which the aircraft has been shown to meet all
the airworthiness requirements applicable to it. MTOW of an aircraft is fixed, and does not vary
with altitude or air temperature or the length of the runway to be used for takeoff or landing. A
different weight the "maximum permissible takeoff weight", or "regulated takeoff weight", varies
according to flap setting, altitude, air temperature, length of runway and other factors. It is
different from one takeoff to the next, but can never be higher than the MTOW.

3. What is Maximum Landing Weight?

The maximum gross weight due to design or operational limitations at which an aircraft is
permitted to land. It must not exceed the maximum takeoff weight (MTOW). If the flight has
been of short duration (for example an emergency just after takeoff), fuel may have to be
jettisoned to reduce the landing weight. Where aircraft overweight landing is permitted, a
structural inspection or evaluation of the touch-down loads before the next aircraft operation will
be required.
The operation landing weight may be limited to a weight lower than the maximum landing
weight by the most restrictive of the following requirements:

 Noise requirements
 Aircraft performance requirements for a given altitude and temperature:

 landing field length requirements,

 approach and landing climb requirements

4. What is Regulated weight?

Regulated weight is the Weight of the aircraft at the commencement of taxi.

5. What is the allowed weight for take-off?

The weights taking into consideration all possible limitations for take-off including
restrictions caused by Regulated Take-Off Mass and Regulated Landing weight. The maximum
permitted weight at which the a/c may take-off, with respect to ambient atmospheric conditions
and to the actual airfield and runway in use.

6. What is the allowed traffic load?

Traffic load includes Cargo loads plus passengers and their baggage. The weight should not
exceed at the given weight requirement in the traffic load allowed.
