GRADE AND SECTION: 7 – HONESTY TEACHER: JOHN LOUIE B. MACIAR

TIME: 1:00-2:00PM MWF TTH SUBJECT: SCIENCE

JUNE 27, 2019

I. OBJECTIVE/S
 Recognize that substances are made of smaller particles
 Describe and make a representation of the arrangements, relative spacing, and relative motion
of the particles in the three phases of matter

II. SUBJECT MATTER

a. Topic: Matter And Its Properties
b. Reference: Exploring Life Through Science Series: General Chemistry 1, pp. 9-10
c. Other Reference: Teaching Guide for Senior High School: GENERAL CHEMISTRY 1, pp 1-4
d. Materials: Laptop, books, chalks, projector

III. LEARNING PROCESS

A. Preliminary Activities
 Greetings
 Prayer
 Attendance

1. Drill
 Determine the branch of science of the following.
- The study of atmosphere
- Systematic classification of organism.
- Study of animals
- Study of past life forms

2. Review
You want to prove that trees lower the air temperature under the leaves because of the
shade. You stand under a tree, hold out an air thermometer under the shade for a few minutes, and
record the temperature. You then move to an area where the thermometer is in the open area with no
shade.
 Which is controlled set up?
 Which is the independent variable?
 Which is the dependent variable?

3. Motivation
Present two 60-mL plastic syringes with the needle removed and replaced by a seal.
One syringe contains a small block of wood, while the other contains entrapped air. The
plunger is set to touch the wood block
 What will happen if the plunger will be pushed down the syringe?
 Why is it easier to compress the entrapped air than the wood block?

B. Development Of The Lesson
1. Activity
List down the three phases of matter. Illustrate how the particles are distributed or arranged in each
state of matter using circles.

2. Analysis
 How separated are the particles in each state of matter?
 How free are the particles to move in each state of matter?

3. Abstraction
 Differentiate the three phases of matter.
 Substance are made up of?

4. Application
 Identify at least five examples of each phases of matter found at home.

IV. EVALUATION
Identify the descriptions below weather it is Solid, Liquid and Solid.
1. The particle are very tight or much closed. And has proper arrangement.
2. The particle is very far from each other.
3. Its particle is very free (chaotic) movement.
4. The particle are not too far not to close and particle can freely move.
5. The particles has restricted motion.

V. ASSIGNMENT
Read your book page 49 – 50.
