Borax.
Dilutions are made from a solution composed of one part dissolved in
ninety-nine parts of distilled water.
General Action :- º A tissue remedy, allied to the potashes and to Silicea. º
Its action on mucous membranes is marked by a tendency to aphthous
ulceration (Compare Mercury). º The peculiar nervous phenomena are very
characteristic and unlike any other remedy.
º Study in close relationship Silicea.
Generalities :- º º The infant became pale and nearly earthy-colored, flesh
soft and flabby, cries much, refuses the breast and screams out anxiously in
sleep. º General trembling, especially in hands, while meditating at his work,
with nausea and weakness of knees. º Restlessness ; while eating, amel.
stretching backward, with nausea ; after animated conversation, with nausea,
stupefaction and vertigo.
º Weakness ; with heaviness of feet ; with indolence, fretfulness, thirst after
the midday sleep, heat when walking in open air, sweat on head and face,
confusion of head, pressure in forehead and eyes, which pain on touch as if
sore, inclination to breathe deeply, and when doing so sticking in intercostal
muscles, with hard, quick pulse ; of joints ; especially in abdomen and
limbs.
Mind :- º Violence ; with scolding and swearing at trifles. º Fretfulness ;
every day at 4 P.M. ; in afternoon before the easy stool, with indolence and
discontent, after it liveliness, contentment and cheerfulness in regard to the
future ; F., with whining and crying. º Irritability during important business.
º Crying violently at intervals (in a child).
º º Anxiety increased till 11 P.M. with sleepiness, then vertigo and sleep ; A.
(In a child) when dancing and if rocked in the arms anxious expression of
face during the downward motion ; on riding down hill, feeling as if it
would take away his breath ; with rumbling in abdomen. º Fright, with
starting at a distant shot ; with starting in every limb on hearing an anxious
cry ; (in a baby) at hawking and sneezing ; on waking, the rustling of a
paper or dress or the slamming of a door would cause the child to start,
scream and seem badly frightened, when laying her down she would start
and throw up her hands as if afraid of falling, and some nights they could

not put her down at all. º Fear of contagion.


º º Idling through the afternoon, changing from one business to another and
from one room to another. º Disinclination to work. º Earnestness. º
Liveliness in forenoon, with affectionate mood and desire for work. º
Voluptuous mod. º Vanishing of thoughts. º Obliged to reflect long before he
can remember what he has done through the day, and for a long time is
uncertain whether he was at a place yesterday or to-day.
Clinical :- º Extreme anxiety, especially in children, especially from
motion which have a downward direction, rocking, being carried
down-stairs or laid down, there is starting as in great fright ; this dread of
a downward motion is extremely characteristic of the drug.

Head :- º Aching in morning, especially in forehead ; at 10 A.M., with


nausea and trembling in whole body ; evenings, with confusion of head and
sticking in left ear. º Throbbing during menses, with roaring in ears. º
Lightness, clearness. º Confusion of waking. º Heaviness. º Fulness in
morning, amel. after walking in open air, with lack of clear idea of presence
of mind and of desire for mental work, leaving weakness in feet and joints ;
F. on ascending a mountain or steps ; with pressure about eyes as if held
fast, so that he can scarcely move them ; with pressure in small of back
when sitting and with sleepiness in eyes. º Vertigo in morning in bed ; in
morning, with full feeling in forehead, so that he lost his good humor ; in
evening when walking, as if some one had pushed him from right side
towards left ; in attacks, with loss of presence of mind.
Forehead :- º Sticking over eyes and in temples, alternating with heat and
coldness, so that one time the hands were hot, at another blue, with sticking
in the swollen glands of the neck, which afterwards became softer and
smaller. º Aching ; in evening, with sticking in left ear and in a left lower
hollow molar ; above eyes, amel. walking in open air ; intermittent, above
eyes. º Drawing pain extending towards eyes ; above eyes and towards root
of nose, at times extending into nape, and on stooping pressure in frontal
bone, when reading and writing the pain becomes more violent, with
pressure in region of spleen. º Twitching pain in afternoon, with nausea and
tearing in eyeballs. º Throbbing.
Temples :- º Stitching in right ; from right T. to left half of forehead ;
rhythmical, in right. º Throbbing ; throbbing pain, agg. right.
Vertex :- º Stitches in left, then in genitals, and the next night lascivious
disgusting dreams (in a married women). º Tearing in forenoon, with roaring
in ears. º Boring in a small spot near V. pain in evening, and in forehead.
º Stitches deep in right side, with discharge of pus from right ear and tickling
in left ear as before a discharge, then acute hearing. º Throbbing pain in
occiput as if suppurating, with general shivering. º Pulsating rush of blood to
occiput. º Hairs tangled at tips, so that they cannot be separated (in a child),
as in Plica Polonica, and if these bunches are cut off they form again.
Eyes :- º Stitches in left in evening. º Sensation as if something were

penetrating them, amel. rubbing. º Cutting lengthwise in left, coming and


going suddenly. º Pain as if it would be pressed into the orbit, in morning. º
Itching, with sensation of sand in them. º Pressive burning in right in
afternoon. º Burning as soon as he put on the glasses, with contraction. º
Lachrymation. º Stitches in ball, with contraction of upper lid. º Tearing in
balls, with twitching in forehead and nausea in afternoon.
Lids :- º º Lashes turn inward eye and inflame it, especially at outer
canthus, where the margins of lids are very sore. º Great redness around
eyes when crying (in an infant). º Agglutination in morning, and
lachrymation ; A. at night, with hard mucus, which irritates the eyes like
sand. º Inflammation of margin in an infant, he rubs them, and at night they
are agglutinated. º Aching in upper on opening. º Sensation in right when
sitting as if something pressed outward from between the skin coming from
temples, then pressure around eyes. º Difficulty in closing in evening and
difficult in opening in morning.
Canthi :- º º Inflammation of right outer, with irregularity of lashes, and at
night agglutination of eyes ; I. of left inner, with nightly agglutination. º
Soreness in outer. º Itching in inner.
º Sensitiveness to candle-light in evening. º Vision obscured in left eye in
evening. º Vision of bright waves moving now from right to left, and now
from above downward, mornings when writing.
Clinical :- º Inflammation of the edges of the eyelids, which turn inward
towards the ball, so that lids rub against the ball, entropium.

Ears :- º Purulent discharge preceded by itching in occiput ; P. discharge,


with sticking headache ; with hot inflamed swelling. º Stitches ; in left ; in
left on waking unusually early ; in morning when washing in cold water. º
Pain internally, with pressure behind right ; sore pain on boring in with
finger. º Itching in left in evening when walking, and sore pain after
removing earwax, and at same time sticking in left side of neck. º Sudden
sensation as if enveloped or stopped. º Difficult hearing in left (in a child). º
Roaring and difficult hearing ; R. in right, with ringing. º Ringing in right,
with piping, changing to roaring. º Rushing in left as from a storm. º
Drumming in left as over a subterranean vault. º Crackling in left in evening,
as if thick wax stopped the ear, which then opened again.
Nose :- º º (Red and shining swelling, with throbbing and tensive
sensation.). º Ulceration superiorly in left nostril towards tip, with sore pain
and swelling of tip (Aur., Kali). º Itching internally with crawling. º The
infant rubs his nose vigorously, then his eyes. º Sneezing with great pain,
causing stitches in right side of chest ; S., with fluent coryza. º Dry crusts in
nose constantly. º Fluent coryza, with crawling in nose. º Discharge of much
greenish thick mucus. º Bleeding ; in morning and pulsating headache in
evening ; on blowing nose, preceded by itching in nose.
Face :- º º Pale, earthy (in an infant), with suffering expression. º Flushed. º
Expression of fear or suffering whenever lifted up or put down in bed. º

Swollen, with pimples on nose and lips ; S., hot and red, with tearing in
malar-bone, and pain in the swelling when laughing. º Twitching of muscles
near right corner of mouth. º Feeling of cobwebs on right side by the mouth.
Lips :- º Red inflamed swelling on lower, with burning soreness when
touched. º Large herpetic spots upon mouth, and after burning heat the upper
lip became scurfy. º Pain in corners as if they would ulcerate. º Burning pain
in lower in evening. º Burning below left nostril in morning in bed. º
Crawling as from beetles.
Clinical :- º Erysipelas of face, with feeling of cobwebs on it.
Mouth :- º
Teeth :- º A piece broke out of a hollow one. º Sticking in a left lower
hollow back tooth in evening, with sticking in left ear and pain in forehead ;
intermittent, mostly in a left lower hollow back T. º Tearing in upper hollow,
with griping and sensation as if enlarged, so that she cannot bite nor clench
the teeth, with inflammation and swelling of gum, as if a gumboil would
form, in the evening the pain extends into lower teeth, amel. going to sleep ;
T. in hollow, extending into left half of head ; from hollow into half of head
of touched with the tongue or if cold water if taken into mouth ; in hollow,
extending into left cheek with pressure in forehead and eyeballs. º Griping in
hollow, in rainy weather ; constrictive, in hollow. º Aching in hollow, in bad
weather ; in upper hollow, with swelling of cheeks which pains as if tense
when touched ; drawing. º Boring in hollow in cool evening air. º Digging
after every supper and breakfast, amel. tobacco-smoking. º Elongated
sensation. º Crawling in upper and lower incisors, with tickling, then
salivation.
Gums :- º º Painful gumboil on outer side, with pain in a hollow tooth and
with swelling of cheek and whole left side of face, as far as below eye, where
there was an œdematous swelling (the pain amel. smelling of Chamomilla). º
Swelling, with pressure in hollow teeth in bad weather. º Bleeding of upper.
Tongue :- º º Aphthæ. º Red blister, as if skin were eroded, with pain on
every motion of tongue and on touch of anything salt or sour. º Dryness in
afternoon. º Cramp, as if stiff and asleep, so that breathing is impended.
º º Palate (of an infant) wrinkled, and frequent crying when nursing. º
Mucous membrane of forepart of palate shrivelled, as if burnt, with pain,
agg. chewing. º Aphthæ on inside of cheek ; bleeding when eating. º
Membrane of hard palate pinched and dry, with a few small erosions. º
Mouth of an infant very hot (Kali, Sil.). º Slimy mouth. º Copies cold
saliva. º Taste, bitter, if she eats anything or swallows saliva everything
tastes bitter ; insipid ; lost, to food ; lost, to soup, at dinner, and the soup
causes sweat.
Clinical :- º Aphthous sore mouth, the ulcers bleed on eating or on
touch ; mouth very tender in nursing children ; mouth is very hot, with
thirst and vomiting.

Throat :- º Mucus, which he must expectorate. º Hawking of limbs of


mucus in morning. º Tough, whitish mucus, difficult to loosen. º Tough
mucus, difficult to loosen ; causing vomiting. º Hawking of green, loose
mucus. º Hawking of a piece of blood-streaked mucus. º Roughness ; in
morning. º Rawness in pit, amel. hawking up mucus, with drawing stitches
when coughing and sneezing. º Dryness. º Burning, causing him to swallow
saliva, which is painful.
Stomach :- º Appetite increased for breakfast ; in evening. º Hunger,
without real appetite. º Little appetite ; in evening ; especially for supper. º
Appetite lost for dinner ; evening, with nausea, drawings from vertex to
temple and drawings from abdomen towards groin. º No desire for tobacco. º
Thirst in morning, he must drink much. º Longing for sour drinks.
º Hiccough after eating ; H. (in an infant) ; which makes the throat raw. º
Nausea ; in morning, amel. after dinner ; in morning, with faintness ; at
noon, at the thought of food, with coldness, drawing headache and pain in
abdomen, amel. diarrhœa ; in afternoon with faintness ; every day from 3
P.M. till evening, with pain in sternum ; while eating after waking, and on
drinking water difficult, copious vomiting of mucus and some bitter
substance ; periodical. º Vomiting when riding ; V. of a tough fluid ; of
mucus, with heat and rapid ; feverish pulse ; of sour mucus after breakfast
(of Coca).
º º Distention after eating, amel. in evening on going into open air, with
discomfort, sick feeling and ill humor. º Sticking in pit, with oppression of
chest, which impels him to take a deep breath, but he cannot do it on
account of pinching in right side of chest. º Pain in region after lifting
something heavy (before menses), the pain goes in to small of back, where it
become sticking, so that she cannot turn without pain the whole night, amel.
in morning ; P. as from bad digestion, on external pressure on pit. º Pressure
after every meal ; in pit after eating pears, especially in morning or
forenoon, with discomfort in pit, amel. walking.
º Constriction in pit ; in region every day from 4 A.M., till noon, a kind of
winding-up sensation, which extends to spine, where it causes sticking. º
Tightness in pit when sitting stooped, extending into chest, impeding
respiration and causing sticking in lung. º Fulness after eating apples and
mutton, with ill humor and with fulness in head, as if the blood forcibly
pressed into it. º Heaviness, amel. walking in open air.
Abdomen :- º Distention after supper ; D., especially in epigastric region ;
flatulent, after every meal. º Flatulence. º Rumbling ; at night, amel. passing
flatus upward and downward ; after dinner, with diarrhœa. º Emission of
flatus. º Pinching ; with diarrhœa. º Griping, with shivering and gooseflesh.
º Pain as if diarrhœa would result ; after eating, amel. after midday nap. º
Weakness.
Hypochondria :- º Cutting in right after breakfast, extending downward
across through abdomen, then sudden diarrhœa ; C. in left on walking
rapidly, as if a hard, sharp, movable piece were there, with sensation in

abdomen as if only hard piece were in it much mixed up. º Pressure in left ;
from lowest ribs to hipbone, after midday sleep till evening, agg. external
pressure ; in left, sometimes with a burning and with a sensation on deep
breathing as if something rose into chest, which sank down again on
expiration ; in left as with hands, when riding in a carriage without springs ;
in left as from a stone, when dancing, amel. continued dancing.
º Pressure as from a stone in right flank (after menses), extending to scapula,
from which place it extends spasmodically into stomach and small of back,
then vomiting. º Pinching constrictive pain above navel every morning,
obliging her to bend double, then it ceases. º Spasmodic dragging in
hypogastric region during menses, with shooting.
Rectum :- º Stitches in evening. º Contraction, with itching. º Desire for
stool in morning, stool at first hard, then diarrhœa-like, with burning in
anus ; frequent desire, with rumbling in abdomen and diarrhœa ; frequent
desire with pinching in abdomen and easy pasty stool. º Feeling as if
diarrhœa would come on, after smoking.
Anus :- º A swollen vein as large as a quill, painless, soft to touch. º Brown
mucus after stool. º Boring-sticking and in small of back. º Itching in
evening ; I. as from hæmorrhoidal mucus.
Stool :- º º Soft, light yellow, three times a day, with weakness. º
Diarrhœa ; six times from morning till 2 P.M., without pain ; in morning,
then usual stool in evening immediately after eating, with weakness in joints
and legs, which is amel. by walking ; with rumbling in abdomen ; then no
stool for several days, afterwards a hard stool daily ; sudden, with rumbling
and grumbling in abdomen. º Slimy stool every hour. º Like yellow water. º
Watery, greenish, with some mucus, crying out during each evacuation. º
Constipation, with fæces like sheep-dung. º Hard in morning, then diarrhœa
in afternoon, with much wind ; H., with straining. º Two scanty, pasty. º
Green (in a infant), preceded by crying. º Frequent ; and easy ; F. diarrhœa
after breakfast. º Pale mucus passes four times, with stool once
involuntarily. º Reddish liquid mucus with the stool. º Tenacious, glutinous
yellowish mucus with the stool. º Passage of blood and mucus from anus,
after diarrhœa. º Passage of round worms.
Clinical :- º Diarrhœa in nursing infants, offensive, preceded by colic,
stools mucous, with aphthous sore mouth, screaming before urinating, etc.

Urinary Organs :- º º Urging urinate ; several times at night ; after an


emission, and on urinating cutting in urethra ; ineffectual, with cutting in
genitals and distention in hips. º Frequent micturition ; (In an infant) often
with cries before the urine passes (Nux v.).
Urethra :- º Dark blue spots at orifice, as if skin were off, with biting pain
on urinating. º Orifice seems agglutinated. º Smarting after urinating ; agg.
touch. º Cutting during involuntary emission of such thin semen that he
thought he urinated. º Pain in orifice as if sore, after urinating. º Burning
tension after urinating.

º º Urine hot, in an infant (Canth.). º Pungent smell to urine (Benz. ac.).


Clinical :- º Children are afraid to urinate, almost have convulsions
when the desire to urinate comes.

Sexual Organs :- º Sticking sore pain on penis at margin of place where a


chancre formerly existed, amel. touch. º Tensive erection in morning on
waking. º Excitement, without desire for coition. º Sensual sensations while
resting his hands in a kind way on a sick woman, without desire for coition.
º Indifference to coition. º Rapid emission, with dream of coition, waking
him. º Emission very soon on coition and continual irritation in genitals. º
Obliged to wait long during coition for discharge of semen.
º Easy conception. º Sensation of distension in clitoris at night, with sticking.
º Leucorrhœa like the white of an egg, with sensation as if warm water
were flowing ; as thick as paste and white (Aur.) ; white, like mucus,
fourteen days after menses. º Sticking in region of uterus. º Menses too
soon ; and very profuse, with griping in abdomen, nausea and pain in
stomach extending into small of back, which lasted till midnight, then
sweat ; and preceded in evening and morning by heaviness on chest, with
difficult breathing and roaring in ears. º M. delayed, pale at first, redder in
afternoon and more profuse, ceased on third day in the night and returned on
the fourth. º M. very scanty for two days, then profuse and pale red from
third to sixth day, with weakness, M. omitted in second month, but after
dose of Borax in the sixth week appeared next day, with pinchings in
abdomen.
Clinical :- º Dysmenorrhœa, extreme pain during the menses ;
membranous dysmenorrhœa (Acetic ac.). º Leucorrhœa preceding and
following the menses, albuminous and acrid. º Very valuable for
inflammations of mucous membrane of the vagina and uterus,
endocervitis.

Respiratory Organs :- º Tearing in larynx in evening ; extending into chest,


provoking cough. º Cough at night ; C., with scraping in throat and pressure
in chest. º Dry cough from tickling in throat ; from scraping in throat. º Dry
hacking in a child. º Dry cachectic cough, as in old people, agg. morning on
rising and evening on lying down, with sticking in right side of chest and
right flank (Kali. c.), the pains agg. wine, amel. washing chest in cold water.
º Hacking and violent cough in evening, and with every paroxysm of cough
expectoration of mouldy taste and smell from chest. º Cough, with difficult
expectoration of white mucus streaked with blood. º C., agg. morning, with
expectoration of mucus and with pain in liver ; which continues, but without
cough, till noon.
º º Necessity every three or four minutes to take a quick deep breath, which
is every time followed by a stitch in right side of chest, with a subdued
painful sigh and slow expiration. º Arrest of breath which lying, he is
obliged to jump up and catch, for breath which causes a stitch in right side
of chest (Kali c.). º Respiration short after ascending steps, so that he cannot
speak and every time he speaks a stitch in right side of chest (Kali c.,
Merc. s.), the same on running or on any other exertion which heats him. º

Difficult R. ; with necessity to breathe deeply, which he cannot do on


account of stitches in chest.
Chest :- º Milk increased. º Milk flows, so that the bed is wet ; M. which
flows from the breast is curdled. º Stitches with every cough (Merc. s.) and
deep inspiration (Kali. c.) ; S. when yawning ; in region of right nipple in
evening with every paroxysm of cough ; between right ribs, agg. lying on
right side, with drawing and obstruction of breathing ; on sternum after
dinner, agg. deep inspiration ; in right side if he raises the arm, with
drawing ; in left ribs, with soreness internally in chest ; as from incarcerated
flatus ; in left on every inspiration, as with a knife ; drawing, in right
intercostal muscles, waking him as soon as he turns right side, obliging him
to sleep on left side ; drawing, in right, expending into right flank, where it
is by hiccoughing sneezing, coughing and yawning.
º º Griping in left breast, sometimes with stitches, and when the child has
nursed, necessity to compress the breast becomes it aches on account of
being empty. º Pain ; in right when coughing, amel. pressure and in right
flank ; amel. walking slowly about the room ; in side amel. holding it with
the hand ; at night in pectoralis major, as from a hard bed, with soreness on
touch. º Drawing pain in right intercostal muscles if he bends forward and to
the right ; in a spot in intercostal muscles, which changes on bending to the
left into a pain as from a blow. º Contractive pains in left breast when the
child nurses the right. º Contraction at every attempt to breathe.
º Oppression in evening in bed. º Heaviness preventing breathing. º
Tightness, with constrictive oppression of breath on ascending steps, he is
then obliged to take a deep breath, which is accompanied every time by a
drawing stitch in right side of chest. º Feeling as if the heart were on the
right side and were squeezed. º Weakness, with dryness in throat. º Feeling
better than when lying quietly stretched out on back.
Clinical :- º Pleurodynia or true pleurisy in upper part of right chest,
with cough, expectoration of a mouldy smell.

Neck :- º Rheumatic drawing pain in nape in evening when walking in open


air, extending into left shoulder and then into scapula.
Back :- º Stitches in evening, extending into chest. º Pressive pain on both
shoulders. º Stitches in right lumbar region, agg. in morning by stooping
while walking, amel. sitting. º Pain in small of back ; when stooping ; when
walking ; with mucous discharge with the stool ; when sitting and stooping,
as from pressure. º Pressure in kidney region, agg. turning, with sticking.
Upper Extremities :- º Stitches in right shoulder. º Drawing and tearing in
shoulder and between shoulders, so that he cannot stoop. º Burning pain in
upper arm a hand's breadth around the whole arm. º Sticking in palm in
evening, with feeling in whole hand, extending above wrist, as if asleep. º
Tearing in fore part of right hand, with breaking sensation as if rheumatic. º
Feeling as of a cobweb upon, hands. º Throbbing pain in tip of thumb day
and night, waking frequently at night.

Lower Extremities :- º Burning pain on left with thigh, a hand's breadth


around the limb. º Tearing in right femur, extending from the middle
downward and up again, from morning till noon and in evening. º Numbness
of left leg, with heat. º Stitches in sole ; in corns, agg. rainy weather ; boring
S. in corns, amel. pressure. º Pain in heel as if sore from walking. º Pain in
joints and toes of left foot on stepping as if something pressed them. º
Heaviness of feet in evening on ascending steps. º Burning pain in great
toes, especially in balls, agg. when walking.
Skin :- º Inflammation of balls of little toes with itching, as from freezing. º
Erysipelas in face. º Erysipelatous, inflammation of leg, with coldness,
shivering, thirst, vomiting of food and bile, then heaviness in head and
throbbing in temples, with restless slumbering at night, afterwards
nosebleed. º Erysipelatous inflammation and swelling of left leg and foot
after violent dancing with tearing tension and burning in it and increased
burning pain when touched, on pressure of finger the redness disappeared
for a moment, afterwards tension on back of foot, so that standing was
difficult. º Wartlike inundations on inner surface of hands after beating
something with a stick.
º Herpetic eruption on nates of a child. º Psoriasis on limbs and trunk. º
Pimples on face ; red, on cheeks and around chin (in an infant) ; inflamed,
on back of little toe, which pain like a corn ; whitish, with red areola on
chest and throat as far as nape. º Pustule with red areola on right middle
finger, with swelling and stiffness of finger, which continued to suppurate
and pain long after the pustule opened. º Unhealthy, slight injuries suppurate
and ulcerate. º Old wounds and ulcers are inclined to suppurate. º
Long-continued suppuration under thumb-nail where she had stuck a needle,
with pain on touch. º Suppurating spot in heel, that had been rubbed by a
shoe. º Ulcer in left axilla. º Corroding blister upon nates.
º Formation of feet, amel. open air, with trembling of feet, nausea and
tendency to faintness. º Itching on back of finger-joints ; here and there on
backs of hands, as of bitten by fleas ; on malleolus ; on os coccygis, with
crawling, and after scratching discharge of mucus from anus.
Sleep :- º º The child at the breast sleep more than usual, but wakes
frequently. º Sleepiness at noon and deep sleep for two hours. º Sleepy in
evening and tired. º Sleep early in evening and long sleep in morning. º
Sleepiness in the twilight, but the disappearance of sleep when he went to
bed. º Feeling in the morning as if he had not slept enough.
º Falls asleep late and wakes early. º Wide awake in evening. º Wakes at 3
A.M. and cannot sleep again for two hours on account of general heat,
especially in head, with sweat on thighs. º Wakes before midnight and
cannot sleep till 2 o'clock ; W. at 1 A.M., and cannot sleep till 4 on account
of much thinking. º Wide awake at 4 A.M., so that he goes to work
cheerfully.
º Restless sleep ; on account of rush of blood to head, restlessness of body,
rumbling in abdomen and diarrhœa ; with thirst and coldness ; with frequent

waking, crying out in fear, and during sleep muscular twitching and starting
at a slight noise. º The child tosses about, cries till 4 A.M., frequently out of
its sleep, and in the morning is in a whining mood. º An infant cries out of
sleep and anxiously grasps its mother, as if frightened by a dream. º
Dream of sore throat and other diseases. º Vexatious D. º Voluptuous D. º
She dreams of coition, but without pleasurable sensation.
Fever :- º Chill from 2 to 4 A.M., with trembling vomiting of food, tearing in
thighs and pain in their bones as if they would be broken, followed after
sleep by heat and thirst, then at 8.30 bitter vomiting, then sweat, with
diminished thirst. º C. from 2 to 6 P.M. (after thirst in forenoon), then till
going to sleep heat, with pain in left hypochondrium. º Coldness every
second afternoon, with thirst and sleep, on waking heat with aching in
inguinal ring. º C. after eating, with more thirst than appetite for dinner,
tensive drawing backward around hypochondria, heat suddenly rising into
head on deep breathing, then heat at 6 P.M., during which he must lie down
till 10, then sweat, then thirst.
º Coldness, with headache and subsequent heat, without thirst, agg. walking
in open air. º C. alternating with heat, often with sweat in face, during which
coldness runs down back, with stretching of limbs, weariness and sleepiness
so that he must lie down in afternoon, but inability to sleep, when walking
he drags the feet and is fretful and taciturn. º General shivering, with
throbbing pain in occiput as from suppuration. º Coldness, especially in
back, without thirst, with flat taste, rawness of larynx, stitches in chest when
breathing, weakness, stretching of limbs, contracted, quick pulse, heat,
heaviness and stupefaction in head and burning of eyes, with sensitiveness
to light. º Sensitiveness of external head to cold and to change of weather.
º Heat ; in evening in bed, with sweat, but chilliness as soon as he rises ; if
she puts her hands under the bed-covers, but coldness as soon as she puts
them out again. º Flushes of H. in morning, with nausea. º H. of head, mouth
and palms, in an infant ; in head in evening when writing with thirst and
sensation as if sweat would break out ; of left cheek, with redness. º Burning
in small of back while sitting. º H. of fingers, even from slight cold, with
redness, as after freezing ; in right thigh near pudenda, agg. cough and lying
hand upon it ; of toes, with redness and some coldness, as after freezing.
º Sweat at night ; during morning sleep, and when dressing cold sensation
dry cough and rawness in chest, as after taking cold.
