Baryta Acetica.
Dissolve the acetate of Barium in distilled water for use (one to nine.).
Action and Affinities :- º As Bar. carb., except the modifications by Acetic
acid.
Generalities :- º Lies on his back, deprived of voluntary motion. º
Discoloration of tissues, with emaciation. º Bruised feeling in whole body,
with weariness and heaviness of lower limbs ; B. pain in spots, slowly
increasing and decreasing. º Drawing in whole body, now here, now there,
especially in joints. º Indescribable malaise. º Inability to cough, to
expectorate, to articulate words of more than two syllables (owing to failure
in expiration), or to lift head from the pillow.
º º Weakness (Acet. ac.) ; after eating with depression, discomfort, constant
desire for stool, and anxiety in lumbar region as in dysentery ; with constant
desire to lie or sit ; with giving way of knees when standing, pain in spine,
especially in lumbar region, as after a long ride, discomfort in whole body
and constant desire to sit or rather lie, would rather walk than stand. º
Paralysis extends rapidly downward affecting first the abdominal muscles,
then those which have their insertions in chest, then those of neck, lastly
sphincters of bladder and rectum. º The symptoms (tearing, drawing,
throbbing) in head and limbs appear more on left side.
Mind :- º º Wavering long between opposite resolutions. º Resolved during
the day that she will undertake a certain matter in the evening, but scarcely
has the time come when she repents and is undecided whether to do it or
not. º He proposes a short journey, but as soon as he makes preparations he
is inclined to remain at home. º Self-confidence has disappeared. º
Anthropophobia. º Sadness. º Grief at every trifle. º Sudden fearful
suspicion, for example ; that a friend was taken suddenly deathly ill. º
Solicitude ; with fear the slightest noise in the street seems like a fire alarm,
and he is so frightened that he starts in every limb. º Dread, when walking in
the street she imagines that people are judging her wrongly, which causes
anxiety so that she will not look up and sweats over the whole body. º
Fretfulness ; with disinclination to work. º Sudden but transient anger. º
Obstinacy, irritation and excitement about trifles. º Forgetful of the word he
was about to speak ; of a common word in the midst of a speech (Bar. c.).

Head :- º Pressing as if it would burst, especially in frontal eminences and


over orbits. º Dullness ; with tensive confusion in forehead and eyes,
especially in inner canthi. º Confusion with heaviness ; C., extending to
temple and forehead. º Light feeling as if empty. º Vertigo ; on moving
body.
º Stitch outward in right frontal eminence. º Burrowing in forehead and
temples. º Pressure over right eye ; stupefying over root of nose. º Pain
pressing outward in forehead, agg. raising head, amel. stooping especially in
orbits. º Deep-seated twitching in left temple orbit and ear, thrust outward in
left temple. º Aching in left temple. º Burrowing in top and front of head
almost every morning after rising, amel. afternoon, with loose sensation in
brain on shaking it.
º Pressing-asunder stitch in left side, traversing left occiput and ending in
cervical vertebræ. º Aching in right half of brain, from beck to frontal
protuberance. º Sudden drawing in occiput, extending over right ear and
lower jaw. º Heaviness in occiput, especially close to neck, with tension. º
Scalp painful on touch. º Stitches here and there on scalp, compelling
scratching. º Creeping, as if hair stood on end. º Formication, with pricking
under scalp and under skin of face. º Head and face feel as if covered with
parchment.
Eyes :- º Aching with fatigue. º Pressure in left after a twinging pain in left
temple and orbit, with sensation as if eye would water and weakness
compelling her to close the lids, afterwards same sensation in right eye ;
deep-seated pressure, agg. looking at one point or upward or sideways,
amel. winking or looking downward. º Pressure on balls. º Rapid alternations
of dilation and contraction of pupil, whereby it has obtuse angles. º Vision
misty if she closes the eyes and presses the balls, with aching in balls.
Ears :- º Stitches below right near ramus of jaw ; drawing, in mastoid
process, aggravated at intervals, then pain in the spot, agg. touching it or
turning head.
Clinical :- º Neuralgia behind right ear.
Face :- º Pallor, with drawn features and drooping eyebrows ; cadaverous P.
º Feeling as if much swollen but is only slightly so. º Feeling as if covered
with cobwebs (Graph.). º Sensation as if something were drawn tightly over
F. and scalp, especially in temporal region, with cold sensation in face. º
Tension which draws down eyelids, with inclination to expectorate saliva ;
T., with nausea and diarrhœa.
Lips :- º Pustules in right corner, with pain on touch. º Broad wheals under
skin of upper, with pain on touch. º Upper feels swollen, with sensation on
inner surface and on palate as if burnt or numb.
Mouth :- º Painful swelling of gums of right upper back tooth, with redness
and a dark-red border around tooth, pain in tooth from cold drinks and
sensitiveness in its vicinity. º Tongue cold and somewhat black. º Utterance
imperfect. º Constant spitting of saliva without nausea. º Taste detestable ;

bitter, but natural to food ; pungent in throat on smoking tobacco.


Stomach :- º Appetite great, but if satisfied then discomfort and heaviness. º
Aversion to eating, yet hunger. º Satiety. º Little appetite, food will not go
down, it is repugnant and eating gives discomfort. º Appetite satisfied if she
eats a little, with heaviness in stomach as from a stone and gnawing the pain
transiently amel. by stretching up or bending up or bending backward, agg.
sitting bent. º Thirst.
º Empty eructations ; with insipid taste and salivation ; with sensation in
epigastric region as if it would face itself through which causes soreness,
then tasteless eructations. º Nausea ; when walking, agg. touching epigastric
region ; then sudden and copious vomiting of bile and brownish substance
(probably the chocolate taken in the morning). º Retching. º Vomiting
almost every hour ; copious V.
º Sticking below pit near ensiform cartilage, continuing as a simple pain. º
Writhing pain when food passes into it as if it forced its way against sore
places. º Pain ; in epigastric region, agg. slightest food, with pressure of
breath and sensation as if on deep breathing the breath were arrested there
with a rough voice, which is only transiently amel. by frequent hawking. º
Intermittent sudden drawing pain in pit. º Sensitiveness in pit, pain on every
hard step. º Sore pain in pit on pressure and on breathing ; sore pain even
when fasting ; agg. standing, walking and sitting bent, with gnawing, but
when lying on back, bending forward or pressing on stomach she feels only
the pain not the gnawing. º Heaviness in morning fasting, amel. breakfast,
with nausea ; in pit, making respiration difficult, amel. deep breathing, agg.
carrying a slight weight. º Heartburn after eructations.
Abdomen :- º Borborygmi ; with grumbling. º Gurgling ; in afternoon on
moving it, with sensation of much fluid in it though she had drunk nothing. º
Griping extending downward. º Pain as from diarrhœa drawing to and fro,
amel. transiently by rumbling. º Sensation as before diarrhœa, with
chilliness. º Sensation in upper as before vomiting. º Sudden stitches in right,
making her cry out. º Aching spot in right hypochondriac region, only on
inspiration (agg. deep breathing) ; with pain on pressure. º Pinching in a spot
below left hypochondrium, agg. pressure of finger ; sudden, in region of
transverse colon, as if flatus pressed through it. º Sudden stitch from right
groin into abdomen. º Sudden constrictive pain above pubes worse by
paroxysms.
Rectum and Stool :- º º Frequent urging to stool, with pain in lumbar
region and creeping coldness over head and along thighs as in dysentery
then soft stool at intervals, then continuing pain in loins and renewed
urging. º Urging with pain as if the intestines were spread out, then soft stool
with renewed urging. º Frequent desire, but she goes no oftener than usual
and the passage then is natural. º Stool half liquid, then constipation. º Stool
soft, finally like diarrhœa ; soft, granular. º Involuntary stools.
Urinary and Sexual Organs :- º Necessity to pass clear watery urine
frequently though little at a time. º Frequent and copious micturition in

morning before eating or drinking. º Almost complete incontinence of urine


and fæces. º Urine increased ; and clear. º Much mucus in urine. º Sweat on
scrotum. º The formerly-swollen epididymus swells anew violently. º Desire
diminished.
Respiratory Organs and Chest :- º Pressure just below larynx. º Voice
extinct. º Voice rough on account of tough mucus in throat and larynx, on
hawking he raises but little and makes his voice clear for but a short time. º
Respiration imperfect ; and frequent respiratory sound almost imperceptible.
º Stitch between right sixth and seventh ribs. º Heaviness across chest, agg.
inspiration, which causes sticking beneath upper and of sternum.
Heart and Pulse :- º Heart sounds dull, deep. º Pulse rapid and small ;
slow ; irregular.
Neck :- º Aching extending from cervical vertebræ to behind right ear,
obliquely to parietal bone, at 4 P.M. and afterwards on two days. º Tensive
pain on left side.
Back :- º Relaxation of posterior muscles of trunk after vomiting. º Stitch on
left scapula and on outer side of right thigh. º Sudden pinching on left
scapula. º Anxiety in lumbar region, with discomfort and restlessness, like
urging to stool, amel. passage of flatus or empty eructations, then frequent
soft stools. º Throbbing grumbling sensation in lower part of small of back.
Extremities :- º Muscular relaxation, he was scarcely able to sit in an
arm-chair. º Digging in left shoulder-bone. º Bruised pain in middle of left
humerus. º Sensitive pain in spot in humerus. º Drawing in all long bones of
right arm. º Heaviness of left arm, with difficult motion of it the shoulder
alone seems to act the hand and forearm are paralyzed. º Bruised pain on
back of forearm, as if in bone, worse by paroxysms. º Painful drawing in left
forearm, as if in bone. º Twitching to inner condyle of wrist in slow,
wavelike paroxysms in morning in bed ; rhythmical T. in outer condyle of
wrist. º Tearing in wrist, extending to tips of fingers. º Cramplike pain in
right wrist, extending outward. º Stitches in lowest joint of left index.
Lower Extremities :- º Tearing down leg, most painful and lasts longest in
knees and also in other joints, nates, hips and ankles ; intermittent,
downward in right nates ; in external and anterior side of thigh, extending
downward under skin, as far as knee when walking.
Knee :- º Tearing extending downward under skin, while walking. º Stitches
through left on ascending stairs, leaving painful paralysis ; sudden S. on
inner side of left. º Aching on inner side of left on raising it and putting leg
forward in walking. º Pain in left when sitting more towards inner side, on
extending foot it becomes a dull pressive sensation.
º º Drawing pain down whole left leg. º Sensitive drawing in small spot in
left tibia. º Legs dragged, agg. ascending stops, on account of lame sensation
in middle of thigh. º Giving way of right, then left leg. º Weariness of legs
when sitting, with jerks in foot and aching in posterior surface of thigh,
which is agg. by stepping and extends to foot. º Drawing pain in left sole.

Skin :- º Acne pimples on chest. º Pustules on left middle finger, with sore
pain on touch. º Red eroded, moist, burning spot between scrotum and thigh.
º Fine stitches here and there. º Crawling here and there, with burning
stitches, often sudden in a spot, not amel. by scratching and rubbing ; C. in
palm, with biting ; in whole body nights, especially on back, hips legs,
ankles, back of feet and fingers, waking him, with constant scratching which
only transiently relieves ; burning, on back of hand and fingers, only
transiently amel. scratching. º Itching on chest.
Sleep :- º Yawning, with stretching and sleepiness ; Y., with suffusion of
eyes. º Wearied with sleep in forenoon. º Overpowering sleepiness. º Sleep
in afternoon and continual nodding. º Frequent waking, with heat, throwing
off of covering, and with aching of feet as after long standing, amel.
walking. º The first sleep uneasy, with frequent waking though he was tired
and sleepy on going to bed. º Sleep unsound and unrefreshing. º Unrefreshed
in morning on waking, amel. rising with bruised feeling in limbs. º Dreams
of dead persons (which did not frighten him) with murmurings in sleep. º
Vivid, strange dreams. º Confused dreams ; with restless sleep, frequent
waking and fatigue, so that he soon fell asleep again.
Fever :- º Chilliness in forenoon, coldness rising in pit of stomach, with
pressure, so that it seems as if the hairs were drawn together, it then extends
slowly down arms and legs into feet. º C. in attacks extends down through
whole body, with coldness of hands ; C. in attacks, especially in arms, with
gooseflesh and yawning. º Shivering chilliness in head, with tension in
malar-bones as if there would be gooseflesh in face and as if the hair stood
on end. º Shivering in attacks, with flashes of heat, mostly in back, the
chilliness extends from the face, in which there is tension. º Skin cold ; and
covered with sweat. º Feeling of a cold air along leg as far as condyles. º
Chilliness extends from pit of stomach, then warmth of whole body except
feet, then chilliness again.
º Flushes of heat over whole body, then exhaustion, so that the hands sink
down, face and hands hot, the rest of the body almost cool. º Hot sensation
on back ; in face, without redness.

Baryta Carbonica.
Pure Carbonate of Barium in triturated for use.
Action :- º A profound tissue remedy affecting glandular structures
especially ; indicated in general degenerative changes.
Affinities :- º Lycop., Merc. i. rub., Mag., Nat., Calc., Kali.
Generalities :- º Stitches in joints. º Tearing in whole body, now here now
there. º Pinching in several places. º Bruised feeling over whole body in
morning on waking with weakness. º Tense feeling in whole body, with
anxiety in forenoon. º Beating through whole body in morning on rising. º
Drawing alternately in right shoulder, in lower extremities, arms, occiput
and eyes with heaviness of occiput, great indolence and sleepiness causing
dizziness.
º General sick feeling. º Sensitiveness of all senses. º Faint feeling at night,
with profuse vomiting next day nausea. º Walking in open air is difficult but
the farther he walks the easier it becomes. º Weakness at 8 P.M., so that he
almost sinks down ; W. from a short walk then necessity to sleep ; when
lying, which generally seems a kind of heaviness. º Relaxed condition of
joints. º Indolence after dinner. º Paralysis extending from below upward so
that he could only nod his head, with red face, difficult speech, sensation
intact, reflex irritation increased, respiration rapid, with tracheal râles. º
Several symptoms decrease during dinner. º Many symptoms arise when
sitting, are better when standing and disappear on motion. º Many symptoms
disappear in open air.
Clinical :- º It is useful in conditions of malnutrition in children when
there is imperfect development of mind or in diseases that have a tendency
to slow degenerative changes like scrofulous glandular indurations of
various sorts. º It is an extremely valuable remedy in degenerative changes
in coats of arteries, aneurism, arterial fibrosis in apoplexy as the result of
senility, etc. º Fatty tumors, particularly about back. º Paralysis of old
people.

Mind :- º Delirium at night, with stupefaction, as in fever. º Anxiety


evenings in bed, with necessity to open her clothes. º Fear and cowardice. º
Sadness and fear for his future, in the evening, he thinks that he is lost. º
Despondency, with crying and the belief that she must die. º Lachrymose
mood at night. º Dejection, with disinclination to speak. º Ennui and ill

humor. º Peevish and quarrelsome. º Good humor becomes mischievousness.


º Stupid feeling in the morning on waking. º Want of memory ; so that he
does not known what he has just spoken (Anac., Dig.).
Clinical :- º In children mental weakness, approaching idiocy. º Mental
impairment, as a result of masturbation, irresolute, memory lost no
confidence in himself. º Senile dementia, with loss of memory.

Head :- º Stitches, from warmth of stove ; in brain, with heat and crawling
in head ; increasing and decreasing. º Shattering in brain on stamping. º
Aching in evening, agg. noise, especially the human voice ; from walking. º
Heaviness in morning on waking, after rising heat in it, with coldness of
hands and feet. º Confusion ; in morning on waking and the whole
forenoon ; in evening, with heaviness in it, sleepiness constant falling
forward of head, fretfulness and fatigue ; when sitting, amel. open air. º
Humming as of boiling water. º Rush of blood, with feeling as if the blood
stagnated there. º Loose feeling in brain, it seems to fall here and there when
moving head.
º º Vertigo in morning after rising ; and everything turns around, with a faint
nauseous feeling ; on rising from stooping ; with headache on stooping ;
with nausea on stooping ; so that he must cling to support, with nausea ; so
that everything turns around suddenly, on raising arm ; so that he does not
know where he is when walking along a little path.
º Stitches in left frontal eminence on stooping when washing. º Pressive pain
outward in forehead. º Throbbing in right deep in brain, on stooping. º
Heaviness in right side of F., with pressure. º Sensation in F. on stooping as
if everything would fall forward. º Stitches above right temple in morning
when yawing ; burning S. in right temple. º Pulsation in temples. º Vertex,
stitches when standing in sun, extending through head ; tearing ; pressure in
brain on waking, extending towards occiput, with stiffness of neck.
Sides :- º Stitches ; after dinner and in evening, when they are most severe
in left ; in left, extending from occiput to frontal eminence, or alternately
here and there. º Tearing in spot deep in right parietal bone ; deep-seated, in
brain beneath right ear renewed by touch with intermittent twitching. º
Painful screwing together from both, then tearing in a spot on left parietal
bone, afterwards in left side of occiput. º Throbbing in left, with sticking. º
Tension on left parietal bone, with burning in a small spot.
º Tearing in left side of occiput, amel. bending head backward. º Rheumatic
pain in occiput, with swelling of glands in neck. º Throbbing in occiput in
evening, extending to frontal eminence. º Hair falls out when combing. º An
old tumor on scalp hitherto painless becomes larger, and when touched pains
as if ulcerating. º Pimples on sides. º Pain in scalp as if the hair were pulled
in a spto on right parietal bone. º Formication in evening. º Itching, with
biting, and on temples ; creeping left here and there, scratching.
Clinical :- º Apoplexy of old people. º Wens. º Crusta lactea, with moist
crusts, falling of the hair, especially with swelling of the glands.

Eyes :- º Swelling in morning. º Redness of white, with white pimple upon


eye near corner ; of white with lachrymation. º Tearing. º Pain in left,
extending over temple into ear. º Pressure, with itching as from dust. º
Itching ; with burning pressure soreness and dryness. º Burning on exerting
vision. º Dry heat and pressure. º Pain in balls.
Lids :- º Swelling in morning. º Inflamed redness internally. º
Agglutination ; at external canthi, at night. º Matter on externally, agg. in
morning. º Closed in twilight. º Difficult to open in morning. º Stitch through
left upper ; twitching in external canthus. º Twitching tearing in right upper.
º Pressure in external canthus as from sand. º Burning in inner canthi, with
lachrymation. º Itching on border of upper.
º Sharp drawing over left in evening, extending from nose towards temple. º
Sensation as if a burning spark passed from upper margin of right orbit to
root of nose. º Vision obscured ; gauze before eyes in morning and after a
meal ; double ; of a black spot ; of sparks in the dark ; of sparks, with tearing
in eyes ; halo of rainbow colors around candle-light.
Clinical :- º Cataracts.
Ears :- º Gland below right swollen and painful to touch (Merc. i. rub.). º
Stitches ; deep in left. º Tearing behind right ; in left, extending outward ; in
bones in front of right, with boring and drawing. º Boring in right, causing
cries. º Crawling pain in bones in front of right. º Drawing pain, a kind of
twinging. º Drawings at night. º Throbbing in front of left when lying upon
it ; deep-seated after midnight when lying upon it, right then left, with
pressure ; in left like a pulse when lying upon it at night. º Crawling in left,
with twitching. º Itching internally ; in left. º Sensation as of hard hearing.
º º Hardness of hearing. º Reverberation on blowing nose violently. º Sound
like a sounding-board, even when breathing. º Stunning noise. º Roaring
before, with buzzing. º Ringing. º Buzzing in evening like a ringing of bells
and a violent wind. º Cracking when swallowing ; in one on swallowing, as
if it were breaking ; when walking fast, swallowing, sneezing, etc. º
Crashings at night. º Crackling in left if he lies upon it, extending to right,
preventing sleep.
Clinical :- º Deafness, the result of impairment of the auditory nerve,
especially in old people. º Suppurative inflammations of the middle ear,
especially in connection with suppurating tonsils.

Nose :- º Dryness (Kali bi., Lyc.). º Seems swollen and internally


agglutinated. º Sneezing in rapid succession in evening ; so violent that it
shakes the brain, then vertigo. º Stoppage. º Frequent inclination to blow,
with discharge of thick mucus then dryness. º Discharge of thick yellow
mucus. º Profuse mucus discharge. º Fluent catarrh, which rapidly appears
and soon disappears ; F. catarrh, amel. night, with hollow deep voice and
dry cough. º Catarrh, with stopped sensation. º Frequent but transient
catarrh. º Frequent bleeding ; and profuse ; bright red in morning in bed ;
easily when blowing and cleaning nose. º Smell very sensitive.

Clinical :- º Coryza, with great swelling of upper lip.


Face :- º º Pallor ; with peculiar tensive sensation in skin. º Redness in
evening ; with purple-red color of lips and congestion of blood. º Puffiness ;
of left check and region behind ear, with pain in temple. º Twitching in left
side. º Stitch. º Sensation of swelling. º Pressure under chin, agg. touch and
motion of jaw. º Lip cracking of lower ; vesicle on lower ; swelling of upper,
with burning pain ; upper feels swollen ; burning spot on red part of lower ;
burning smarting of lower ; dryness in morning after rising ; dry sensation in
lips and gums, not amel. by drinking. º Jaw stitch in middle of lower ;
tearing in right lower ; pain in articulation on closing ; pain in glands on
under J. ; gnawing in left side of lower.
Mouth :- º
Teeth :- º º Frequent and profuse bleeding. º (One becomes hollow
rapidly.). º Looseness, with pain while eating and afterwards. º Tearing in
back. º Tensive and sticking pain in all right. º Boring as if they would be
rent asunder if he takes anything cold or warm into mouth. º Gnawing in
roots and gum of molars. º Aching in evening in bed ; burning in left, now
upper, now lower, with salivation, and if he lies on left side the side of the
head feels pressed in and there is throbbing in left ear ; sore pain, pain, agg.
touch. º Throbbing pain in a lower back tooth in morning after rising, with
sensitiveness, drawing, jerking, throbbing toothache, as if something were
seated under teeth, extending into ear and right temple. º Grumbling in a
molar. º Crawling in tips of teeth in evening. º Crawling-burning in left
lower T. º Gum bleeds and retracts.

jaws, speak nor swallow, with dark-brown urine and loss of sleep. º
Swelling of left tonsil. º Stitches ; in evening, agg. swallowing, with
dryness ; on swallowing ; on swallowing after taking cold. º Smarting pain
when swallowing, agg. empty swallowing, with pain externally on sides of
throat when touched. º Rawness after night-sweats, worse during empty
swallowing than when swallowing (soft) food, with smarting ; agg. after

indicated when the tonsils are inflamed with swollen veins, in persons
who have habitual sweat of the feet.

Stomach :- º º Hunger but no appetite ; H. even in morning on rising. º


Insatiable appetite. º (Desire for dainties.). º Appetite lost ; slight. º Aversion
to fruit especially to plums. º Thirst, with dryness of mouth ; T. almost every
day at 6 P.M.
º º Eructations ; from afternoon till far into night, preventing sleep ; forcible,
with pressure in stomach, as if a stone rose and fell ; suppressed after dinner,
then spasmodic constrictive pain in stomach ; empty, in morning, waking
him ; empty, in morning, with sensation as if a lump the size of a hazel-nut
rose with them ; empty in afternoon ; empty after a (natural) stool ; rancid ;
sour, after eating ; bitter ; sweetish, after dinner or of bitter water. º Water

whereby hæmorrhoids protrude, with pain when sitting. º Cutting in evening,
especially around navel ; at night ; wakes about midnight ; during menses,

Hypogastrium :- º (Inflammation of a hernial ring.). º Pinching on
urinating. º Cutting at night when lying outstretched, with pressure towards
rectum, rending pain in intestines, fulness above pubes as if everything were
stopped and the abdomen would burst the pains amel. by a stool, which at
first was hard and knotty, then liquid, with pressure, after the stool burning
in anus. º Deep-seated drawing pain, down along right groin, as from a
string. º Pressure above pubs in morning when lying on back ; outward in
abdominal ring on motion and during stool. º Heaviness over pubes during
menses.
Clinical :- º Habitual colic of children who do not thrive, who seem
hungry but refuse food. º Enlarged mesenteric glands, the abdomen is hard
and swollen, the swallowing of food is painful, in scrofulous children
(Calc. c.).

Rectum and Anus :- º Stitches in rectum all day, and hard stool. º Frequent
desire for stool. º Urging to stool, she cannot retain the stool because it is
forced out rapidly. º Hæmorrhoids, with smarting and sticking ; moist, after
stool. º (Passage of round worms ; in stool.). º Frequent passage of blood,
with distention of abdomen. º Painful soreness around anus, as from
excoriation (Nat. m.) ; sore pain around A. towards evening, with burning. º
Burning in anus ; with the (natural) stool. º Crawling in anus. º Biting in
anus (Alum.).
Stool :- º Diarrhœa ; mixed with blood (in a child). º Soft, with urging

(previously there had been a hard one), then burning and pressing asunder in
rectum. º Hard, with burning in anus (Sulph.) ; H. and difficult, with pain in
rectum and bloody mucus. º Tough. º Light colored.
Clinical :- º Constipation, with hard knotty stools (Mag. m.) ;
hæmorrhoids, burning and soreness.

Urinary Organs :- º Renewed desire after urinating, then when walking a


few drops of urine pass. º Urging to urinate after dinner. º Urging, she
cannot retain the urine, it passes so quickly. º Frequent micturition every
other day ; twice every night, with much urine each time. º Micturition rare
and scanty, with burning in urethra. º Burning in urethra on urinating
(Sulph.). º Yellow sediment (Lyc., Sepia).
Sexual Organs :- º Numbness. º Sudden erection in evening, with shivering
and great desire ; slow E. º Itching on right side of scrotum. º Burning in left
testicle. º Desire disappears. º Falls asleep during coition, without emission.
º Emissions in an old man, then feeling of dryness in whole body ; E. in
close succession, then exhaustion ; profuse shortly after coition.
º Painful drawings in pudenda in evening, like tearings by jerks. º Discharge
of bloody mucus from vagina, with anxious palpitation, restlessness of body,
pain in small of back and faintness. º Menses too early ; and too profuse. º
Menses scanty ; and short.
Clinical :- º Diminished sexual desire and premature impotency. º
Enlarged prostate.

Respiratory Organs :- º º Sensation in larynx as if he inspired only smoke. º


Stitches in trachea. º Hoarseness ; or rather loss of voice. º Cough after
midnight ; from continued speaking (Caust.) ; from incessant irritation, with
mucous expectoration. º Suffocative cough (Ip.). º Dry cough in morning
after rising hen sensation as if a hard body fell in chest ; D. cough from a
tickling in trachea and in præcordial region, amel. at night and sometimes
after dinner ; short, in evening ; violent, in evening, then weakness in head.
Clinical :- º Chronic aphonia in scrofulous patients. º Capillary
bronchitis, suffocative catarrh of old people.

Chest :- º Stitches in left ; on every respiration ; in left on lifting a heavy


weight with both hands ; in right in evening causing her to cry out ; deep
under sternum, then bruised pain ; extending to shoulder ; sudden, deep in
left in evening, with burning. º Tearing externally in breasts with sticking
(Con., Sep.). º Pain ; amel. partly by eructations and partly by dry, warm
applications beneath right ribs, with coldness of hands and feet and heat and
redness of cheeks. º Soreness when coughing ; sore pain in and on
externally. º Fulness with bruised pain in left side ; F. agg. ascending, with
short breath and with stitched, agg. inspiration. º Sensation of palpitation in
forepart. º Burning in left side (Senega, Ran. b.).
Heart and Pulse :- º Palpitation ; when lying on left side (Puls.) ; renewed

Back :- º Pain in right side on lying down ; backache as if he had lain too
hard ; tensive pain under right ribs when rising from a seat and when
stooping far forward (to lift something), extending forward. º Pulsation, agg.
rest and after excitement. º Stitches through left scapula to front of chest ;
burning S. on outer border of scapula. º Bruised pain between scapulæ. º
Dislocating pain in left scapula. º Weakness of spine, with clumsiness, it
falls together when sitting a long time.
Loins :- º Stitches ; worse when sitting than on motion. º Pain ; tensive, agg.
evening, so that he could not rise from a seat nor bend backward. º Bruised

Painful drawings if a heavy body dragged downward. º Heaviness as from

Extremities :- º Weakness in afternoon, sweat towards evening vomiting at
night, all reappearing (according to three-day type). º Feet, arms, etc., go to
sleep when lying upon them.
Upper Extremities :- º º Pain in axillary glands (Merc. s.). º Audible
cracking in left shoulder-joints on every motion of arm. º Throbbing
alternating with tearing, now on left shoulder, now between scapulæ ; at
night. º Swelling of right arm, with pain in axillary glands. º Tension here
and there in arms. º Heaviness of arms when lying on the table. º Ulcerative
pain in humerus. º Pain as from a blow above left elbow.
º Twitching in bend of left elbow, almost like shuddering, extending to
middle of upper and forearm. º Twitching-tearing in bend or right elbow. º

Drawing pain in right nates as if flesh were drawn downward.
Thigh :- º Twitching above right knee. º Sticking in right, so that he could
scarcely walk ; sudden, on inner surface ; sudden in hip-joint, as if it would
be wrenched out, with pain on walking as if it would break to pieces. º
Tearing in right in morning after rising, amel. warmth of bed. º Pinching in
right hip-joint, as if stiff or screwed up, extending down front of thigh. º
Pain in right hip-joint on walking in open air. º Pressing inward in bend of
right thigh. º Bruised pain in middle of right ; extending over whole leg and
lasting from afternoon till towards midnight. º Blow above right knee when
standing, so that he believed he would fall forward. º Drawing down front,

Knee :- º º Stitches. º Tearing on inside, extending to middle of tibia, amel.
when walking, returning when sitting. º Intermittent cutting in right, making
leg lame. º Cutting burning in right knee-pan. º Pain, and in legs.
Leg :- º Cramp ; in calves ; in calf on stretching leg. º Twitching in right
calf. º Paralytic pain, amel. elevating leg, as, for example, on a sofa,
especially in right tibia. º Drawing pain, as if in bones, in evening when
sitting, obliging him to stand and walk. º Tension in tibiæ on descending a
mountain ; in tendons of calf, as if too short. º Crawling in left calf when
sitting, as if going to sleep. º Weakness in morning, so that he sinks down.
º Sprained pain in ankle ; and on back of foot, with stitches on motion. º
Trembling of feet when standing, so that he must hold on to something. º

necessity to move the leg in order to relieve the tension in thigh and the
burning in public region.
Toes :- º Corns. º Cramp on stretching foot. º Tearing in right great, towards
tip ; in left great, by the nail, with stitches, sensitiveness of the place and
fretfulness. º Drawing pain.
Skin :- º Eruption on ears ; on right eyebrow, with stitches when touched. º
Desquamation on backs of hands. º Chaps on tips of fingers, and
desquamation. º Dryness of hands, like parchment. º Roughness and dryness
on back of hands ; in a spot on right cheek. º Rash (tetter-like) on upper part
of forehead, with a sensation that is more burning than itching. º Boils on
forehead ; on nates ; on face, but without sensation. º Pimples on arms ; hips,

nose upper lip, forehead, etc. ; itching in nape close to scalp ; itching, on
wrist ; itching, in a cluster, with a red base, below left corner of mouth. º A
small wound easily becomes unhealthy, for example the wound would not
heal after removal of a splinter from a finger, it ulcerated, throbbed and
prevented sleep at night.
º Stitches. º Tensive feeling in face ; tension in forehead after a meal. º
Crawling in left cheek ; on both sides of nose ; in hands, then they fall
asleep. º Itching in hernial ring ; on back ; evenings in bed, now in face, now
in back now in hands ; in thighs, even at night ; here and there, partially
amel. scratching ; here and there, then pain after scratching ; on left
scapula, then pimples after scratching ; on back, with eruption ; over whole
body, preventing sleep for several hours ; burning, here and there ; sticking,
in nates.
Sleep :- º Yawning ; every morning. º Sleepiness every day after dinner in
evening, with involuntary closure of eyes. º The thought which she had had
all day that she would sleep very well prevented sleep all night. º
Sleeplessness ; on account of heat. º Falls asleep late, then restless sleep with
dreams. º Starting in evening, on falling asleep, so that the whole body rises.
º Waking every hour. º The child wakes frequently and calls for its parents. º
Unrefreshing sleep in afternoon, then heaviness, bruised feeling, painful
confusion of head and constant yawning. º Dreams nearly every night ;
anxious, nearly every night, with restless sleep ; A. at night, then heaviness
of head in morning ; frightful ; of fire and the like ; so that she wakes in
sweat ; confused, several nights, so that in the morning on rising it is some
time before she collects her mind.
Fever :- º Sensitiveness to cold. º Chill in forenoon, then sudden heat in
evening, with pulsations of blood in head ; C. in afternoon, with thirst ;
towards evening, alternating with heat ; general at 8 P.M., with shivering
beginning in feet and with bristling of hair ; alternating with heat all night ;
on entering house ; as if dashed with cold water, agg. afternoon ; sudden, in
forenoon, with gooseflesh, external, coldness and bristling of hair. º
Shivering in arms in afternoon, amel. warmth of stove, agg. least draught. º
Coldness of hands, then itching ; C. of right foot when walking in open air,
with tension in calf ; of feet from afternoon till evening, then general heat
after lying down. º Cold sensation in right side of head, and at same a
burning, burning cold sensation in forehead in forenoon.
º º Heat all night with anxiety ; H. when eating or drinking ; after dinner,
with discomfort and with pressure in right side above stomach. º Orgasm of
blood and palpitation, preventing lying on left side, with sore feeling in heart
and anxiety. º Alternations of heat. º Dry H. all night, with sleeplessness, but
if she puts her hand out of bed, chilliness and thirst. º Hot and dry skin. º
Burning, now here, now there on skin. º Burning in upper part of right
scapula ; in nates. º Heat in head in morning on rising, and sticking as with
knives ; H. in head, with sweat on it then thirst in evening ; frequently rising
in head ; H. and redness of one check, with coldness of the other ; dry of

For use dissolve one part of Barium chloride in nine parts of distilled water.
General Action and Affinities :- º See Baryta carb.
º Trembling. º Convulsions. º Weakness ; with laxity of muscles. º Heaviness
so that he cannot keep up. º Immobility. º Paralysis. º Anxiety ; with
retching. º Headache. º Head affected. º Heaviness of head so that he can
scarcely sit up. º Vertigo. º Eyes sunken. º Eyes stiff so that he cannot move
them. º Paralysis of left lid. º Catarrh of eyes. º Ears and nose. º Deafness. º
Face red. º Face pale, with anxious expression. º Sensitive drawing in facial
muscles.
Clinical :- º Whizzing and buzzing in ears. º Noises in ears on chewing
and swallowing.

º Teeth loose. º Toothache, first sticking then (twitching) throbbing, agg.


after sleeping and after midnight, which compels him to sit up in bed. º
Tongue coated. º Mouth and tongue dry. º Swelling of salivary glands ; of

Clinical :- º Chronic hypertrophy of the tonsils. º Valuable in loss of
power, paresis of the pharynx and Eustachian tube, with clacking sounds
on swallowing or sneezing ; air is forced into the tympanum too easily.

º Appetite lost. º Nausea. º Retching. º Vomiting in morning ; V., with pain


in abdomen ; of everything taken, with stringy mucus ; of small portions of
nauseous-looking and tasting substance ; violent ; violent, with anxiety. º
Stomach troubles ; cramp ; pain ; warmth going to chest and head. º Pain in
abdomen ; burning. º Burning in abdomen. º Pinching in pelvic cavity. º
Diarrhœa ; painful ; profuse, without pain in abdomen. º Stool liquid ; S.
greenish and chopped ; coated with mucus. º Micturition painful ; constant
M. ; involuntary. º Urine increased ; U. has a white sediment. º Frequent
emissions at night. º Menstruation induced. º Voice weak. º Cough. º
