Narrative Report
Research Festival
Last March 21 , 2018 , St. Paul University Surigao conducted a Research
Festival. The event wa pushed through with the theme; Research in the K-12
classroom: Responding to change in the 21 st Century Milieu.

The event started after our flag ceremony , mostly around 8:00 o’clock AM.
Selected Grade 12 students or researchers presented their own studies in the New
Gym , opening a new world of discovery for the Grade 11 students. We were given a
chance to tour among the different stalls they’ve open and listen to their explanations
regarding the topic they actually studied. We were also given a chance to ask questions
about how , when , and why did they choose the kind of topic they have choosen.

I was captivated by the studies that the Grade 12 seminarians had. Since Im a
HUMSS student , I am interested with Philosophy more. That moment , I’ve already
chose the room I would visit in the SHS Building , Room number 1 , Beliefs and
Philosophy. I am actually into the life of the seminarians because probably I wanted to
be one but that’s against the rules so Im now just interested with them and how they live
their lives everyday.

Four research groups were tasked to discuss in our room. The first group started
the hype with their study about “Macionis Concept of Modernism vis a vis Moral Values
among the selected Millenial Teenagers of Surigao Citys Public and Private Senior High
Schools”. The rest of the groups presented in the afternoon. My favorite study was
about “Exploring Freedom among the Seminarians of Magbalantay College Seminary in
the Light of Plato’s Ethical Conception of Freedom of the Good”. They’ve used a
Qualitative research and Purposive Sampling. This certain group made an impact to me
to be honest , it is because of how they’ve approached me when I was asking so many
questions during the tour we had at the New Gym. I was over with understanding their
study because it was too complicated for me , but they were kind enough to lecture me
about the methods they’ve use , the steps they went through , the process and all that
just to have an actual research paper like what they have know.

The event was a great success for me and the great way for the Grade 11
students to discover the world of research is through learning the experiences of our
“Ates” and “Kuyas” in the same field but is more knowledgeable about it. The Research
festival ended around 4:00 o’clock PM with a bang.
