A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 7

I. OBJECTIVES:
1.Identify points, lines, and planes.
2.Illustrate segments and rays.
II. SUBJECT MATTER:
A. Topic: Basic Geometry (Undefined terms: Points, Lines, and Planes)
B. Reference: Mathematics (Soaring 21st Century) Grade 7
pp. 316 - 317
C. Instructional Materials: Chalk, chalkboard, book, projector, and laptop.

III. PROCEDURE:

A. Pre-developmental activities
1. Motivation
“Everything in this world is represented by different shapes and figures”
Show them pictures that represent lines, points, and planes.
B.Developmental activities

Definition of terms
 Undefined terms – are basic terms which cannot be defined but can be described.
 Points - represents a position in space. It has no size – no dimension, no width, no length,
and no thickness. It is represented by a dot and is denoted by capital letters like points A,
B, C below.

A
B
C

 Lines – is a set of continuous points that extends indefinitely in either direction. It is

pictured with two arrowheads to indicate that it is continuously going in opposite
directions. It is named by any of its two points or by a lowercase letter.

Rays and Segments are parts of a line.

Segment – is a set of points on a line with two endpoints.
Rays – is a set of points on a line with an endpoint and extends indefinitely on one direction.

 Planes – is a flat surface in which any two points are joined by a straight line lying entirely
on the surface. It has no thickness but it has length and width.
