Lexington Catholic Building and Personnel COVID 19 Preparations

Updated July 30, 2020

As with all our decisions, Lexington Catholic High School has put the health and safety of our entire school
community at the forefront of our decision making. The staff has worked diligently over the summer to create
an environment that will keep in place the high standards of a Lexington Catholic education while keeping
everyone protected with set protocols and procedures. We have made many preparations that allow us to
open our school for in-person learning. Below is a list of things put into place, purchased, or on order for
Lexington Catholic to create a safe environment for everyone.

Faculty Personal Use

• Face Shields
• Masks with clear plastic - The masks with clear plastic are limited in number. Primarily for World Language, High
Marks and/or other teachers who need their mouth visible when talking.
• Disposable Gloves
• Disposable Masks for distribution if anyone forgets theirs
• Maskies – like “croakies” worn with eyeglasses. The Maskies, which faculty, staff and students will receive,
attaches to their mask enabling them to wear the mask around their neck when they need to take it off (eating,
drinking…), avoiding having to put it down.

Every Classroom A Healthy Classroom

• Foaming Instant Hand Sanitizer Stations in each classroom and throughout the building.
• Paper Towel Dispenser in each classroom.
• Re-Juv-Nal – A phosphate-free, pH neutral formulation designed to provide effective cleaning, deodorizing, and
disinfection for schools and athletic facilities (hospital grade). This cleaning agent is used to disinfect desks and
hard surfaces between classes, in bathrooms, and other common areas.
• There will be a microfiber cloth in each classroom to use with the Re-Juv-Nal to wipe down technology pieces.

A Healthy Building
• PX200ES Handheld Electrostatic Sprayer and Purtabs Disinfection Tablets – Disinfects all surfaces using the
Protexus sprayer and Purtabs for enhanced touchless disinfection. Enables large areas to be disinfected that are
non-caustic or corrosive to surfaces.
• The HVAC was inspected at the end of July, and the following was recommended, purchased, and installed: Bi-
Polar Needlepoint Ionization Air Purification System - This technology produces ions in the classrooms through
the duct system which removes the hydrogen bond from the virus. This has been tested on previous viruses and
has now been tested on Covid-19 to render the virus ineffective after 30 mins. In addition, with the virus
molecular structure modify it seeks other particles in the air and conglomerates with them. This results in a
larger organism that will allow your current filters the ability to collect these and provide an additional layer of
protection. While this system will not prevent any virus transmission, it will improve the indoor air quality in the
space and provide a safer environment for the schools.
• ArmourGuardRTU - Provides a durable antimicrobial finish lasting up to 90 days that odorless, colorless, and
non-toxic. Will be used on all surfaces before the first day of school.
• Thermographic Camera with Germanium Lens, Sensor, and Extension Module, with Passive Infrared Sensor -
Temperature escalation system using thermal imagining as students and staff enter the building.
• Thermometers (20).
• Signage throughout the building reminder all to following four (4) directives - Wear a Face Covering, Social
Distance 6’ Apart, Hand Washing/Sanitizing often, and Stay Home if Feeling Sick.
• No Water Fountains Use (Covered).
• Touchless Water Refill Stations (Students, Faculty, and Staff BYO Water Bottle to School).
• Plexiglass barriers for the following areas: High Marks, Main Office, Guidance and Kitchen
• Health Waiting Room where students will wait to be picked up by a parent if the need arises
• Staggered school entry points for faculty and staff
• Altered class schedule to reduce and modify student movement in the building.
• Classroom set-up requirements that include removal of materials that cannot be wiped down and disinfected
• Social distancing taught, practiced, and monitored.

Learning Environment
• Purchased Voice Amplifiers for all classrooms
• Purchased Webcams for all classrooms to assist with students who choose the Virtual Learning option
• Two (2) outside classrooms (tents with sides) will be constructed the week of August 3rd to increase space for
instruction in the fine arts and during lunch.
