Salient Features of Enumaleru Reservoir

The Villagers of Venkatapuram, Bayanapalli, Kanchipalli, K.S Palli, Burjupalli,


Modampalle, Chatreddi palli, Burjupalli and Mundlapadu represented higher authorities to
enhance the storage capacity of Enumaleru Reservoir from present capacity of 60 M.Cft to 5
TMC to meed the irrigation and drinking needs. They represented that the additional water to
Enumaleru reservoir can be drawn from Telugu Ganga Canal which is aligned along the foothill
of Nallamala Forest in Kurnool district.

In view of above, a preliminary survey is done by field staff and the villagers to ascert
and the observations are as follows:
a. Telugu ganga canal Bed Level which is running on the other side of Nallamala hills in
Kurnoll district is + 230.00 m where as the Enumaleru Reservoir FRL is +323.00 m.
The head diiference is - 90.00 m which requires lifting of water.
b. The Length of Pressure Main may be approximately 35 KM
c. Since the existing Enumaleru Reservoir is in Reserve Forest the additional foreshore
area required to accommodate 5 TMC of water is ---------acres which is completely in
Reserve Forest with Hillocks.
