1.4 Safety precautions when using testers and measuring instruments during
a road test
Risk of injury if test equipment is not secured
If an accident occurs and the front passenger's airbag is triggered,
test equipment which is not secured adequately may be catapul‐
ted through the vehicle with potentially serious consequences.
– Secure test equipment on the rear seat with a strap.
Or:
1.5 Notes on use and safety for LED headlights and Audi laser lights
Risk of injury resulting from UV radiation and dazzling
Risk of injury to eyes and skin due to light from headlights.
– Do not look into the light beam.
– Switch off the ignition and all electrical equipment and store
the ignition key outside the vehicle.
– Do not flash the headlights.
– Always dismantle LED headlights according to the Workshop
Manual.

Connecting
– Unplug electrical connector -2- at battery monitor control unit
- J367- -item 3-.
– When connecting battery, attach battery clamp of earth cable
to negative battery terminal “–” by hand and tighten nut -1-.
– Reconnect connector at battery monitor control unit - J367- .
The following measures are required after re-connecting the bat‐
tery:
♦ Activate automatic open/close function of electric window reg‐
ulators ⇒ Owner's Manual for the vehicle .

Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse order; note the following:
– Crash pad (small) -4- and crash pad (large)-3- must be fitted
in spare wheel well correctly.
• Note “L” and “R” markings.
– Slide battery into retaining bracket -1- with protective housing
as far as stop, ensuring that battery base strip engages in re‐
taining bracket.
• It should no longer be possible to move the protective housing.
– Check that protective housing is firmly seated after installing.
– Check that pressure equalisation hose is correctly seated in
grommet -2-.
– Connect up battery in the following sequence with ignition and
electrical equipment switched off:
– First connect battery clamp of positive cable by hand to posi‐
tive battery terminal “+” and tighten nut.
– Attach battery clamp of earth cable to negative battery terminal
“–” by hand and tighten nut.
– Press cap on until it engages audibly.
– Plug in electrical connector.
– Check that battery is firmly secured after installing.
– Connect battery - A- and re-energise 48 V system

– If battery, 48 V - A6- has been renewed, new battery, 48 V -
A6- must be adapted.

NOTICE
The bonnet can be damaged if the wipers are allowed to run
back to the park position.
– Never move the vehicle when the wiper arms are lifted up
off the windscreen.
Note:
The wipers run back to the park position when road speed ex‐
ceeds 6 km/h or when the wiper switch is operated.
– Guide wiper blade -1- into wiper arm -2- in parallel position
-arrow-. Make sure that retaining clip on wiper blade engages
audibly in wiper arm when fitting wiper blade.
– The wipers will run back from the “service position” when the
wiper switch is operated or when road speed exceeds 6 km/
h.
– Guide wiper blade -2- into wiper arm -1- in parallel position

• Renew silicone pad and retaining clip.

it from sensor -2-.
– Press on new retaining clip until it engages audibly.
Removing
– Switch off the ignition and all electrical equipment and store
the ignition key outside the vehicle.
– Remove interior mirror ⇒ General body repairs, interior; Rep.

– Unplug electrical connector -3-.
– Insert a narrow screwdriver -5- into opening and release catch‐

– Loosen rain and light sensor - G397- -item 4- by turning it back
and forth and take it out of mounting -1-.

• Any silicone residue must be removed completely.

Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse order; note the following:
– Check all adjuster elements -2- on headlight. It must be pos‐
sible to turn adjuster nut -1- to do this -arrows-.
– Screw down adjuster nut as far as it will go, but do not tighten.
– Align headlight at edge of wing.
• Headlight must be flush with edge of wing.
Note:
When the bolt is tightened, the adjuster nut of the adjuster ele‐
ment automatically rotates against the mounting point of the
headlight housing and fixes it in place.

– Insert front-end hook - 3370- between moulded headliner and
high-level brake light -2-.
– Detach high-level brake light by pulling it off evenly on left and
right towards rear of vehicle -arrows-.

Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse order; note the following:
• Entire high-level brake light must be renewed if LED is defec‐
tive.
– The mounting -2- of the high-level brake light -3- must engage
evenly in guide rail -1- on both sides.
– Slide high-level brake light evenly to front in direction of travel
until it engages audibly, taking care to keep it straight
-arrows-.
– Lever retaining pins -4- off clip nuts -5- at outer sides using

– Pry lamp -1- for high-level brake light off body using wedge -
T10383/1- . This will release seals -2- from their adhesive
bonds.

wards rear out of retainer -4-.
– Release retaining clip -1- and press connector contact -2- out
of retainer.
– Release retaining clip and press off additional fuse holder.
– Detach relay and fuse carrier.

wards rear out of retainer -1-.

– Unbolt electrical wiring -1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7-.
– Pull out battery -1- -arrow- far enough so that battery terminal
clamp is accessible.
– Detach cover -5- over positive battery terminal.
– Slacken off nut -4- several turns and disconnect battery clamp
-3- of positive cable from battery terminal.
– Release fastener and open cover over main fuse holder -3-.
– Unscrew electrical wires -1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7-.
