Task 6: Figure 7.2: Metacognition

According to figure 7.2 explaining the process of our memory, stimuli from the environment
has stored in our sensory memory. After a short period of time, this memory can be lost due
to less-paid attention or irrelevant in our perception. For example, we just bumped into a
random person and we introduce our names to each other. Three minute later, name would be
forgotten if we do not really paid attention to that person. This process requires our attention
and perception about that person. For instance, if the person is our student, thus we will see
that person everyday classes and paid attention to him since he is a student in the class that
we meet every day. Consequently, this memory naturally becomes working memory or short-
term memory. Without much interaction with the memory we experienced, this memory can
be lost or forgotten in a period of time. This will require interaction to make this experience
relevant in our attention or thought. For instance, if the student is our best student, he finished
high school with grade A, he made teacher proud, naturally and consequently this memory
will be encoded as long term memory.
