SIMPLE
 Present Tense
This is when an event is actually happening.

Simple Present Tense

 It expresses a habit or often repeated action.

 This tense also expresses general truths or facts that are timeless.
Examples: Tom eats an apple.
Boys eat an apple.

Present Continuous Tense

 The tense is used to describe an action that is occurring right now (at this
moment, today, this year, etc.). The action has begun and is still in
progress.
 The present continuous can also be used to describe an action that is
occurring in the present, but is temporary.
Examples: Tom is eating an apple.
Boys are eating an apple.
I am eating an apple.

Sub + is/ are / am + Vb- ing

IS - with Singular Subject.

ARE - with Plural Subject.
AM - with Possessive Pronoun ‘I’.

Present Perfect Tense

 The present perfect is used to talk about an event that began in the past
and continues up to the present.
  The present perfect is also used to talk about an event that was completed
in the past, but the specific time of the event is not important.
Examples : Tom has eaten an apple.
I have eaten an apple.

Sub + has/ have + PP of Vb

****** Past Participle…..indicates a state or process, but does not indicate a

tense.
Eg: Chased by the bull, we climbed a tree.

Present Perfect Continuous Tense

 This tense is used to describe the duration of an action that began in the
past and continues into the present.
 This tense is also used to describe events that have been in progress
recently and are rather temporary.
Examples : Tom has been eating an apple.
I have been eating an apple.
Sub + has/ have + been + Vb- ing

Past tense
This is when an event has already happened.

Simple Past Tense

 We use the simple past to indicate exactly when an action or event took
place in the past.
  The simple past is used to describe actions and/or events that are now
completed and no longer true in the present.
Examples : Tom ate an apple.
Boys ate an apple.
Sub + Past tense of Verb

Past Continuous Tense

 The past progressive is used to talk about an activity that was in progress
at a specific point of time in the past. The emphasis is on the duration of
the activity in the past.
 The past progressive is often used with the simple past to show that one
action was in progress when another action occurred.
Examples : Tom was eating an apple.
Boys were eating an apple.

Sub + was/ were + Vb- ing

WAS…. with singular subject.

WERE ….. with plural subject.

Past Perfect Tense

 This tense describes completed events that took place in the past before
another past event.
Examples : Tom had eaten an apple.
Boys had eaten an apple.
Sub + had + PP of Vb

Past Perfect Continuous Tense

 This tense is used to emphasize the duration of an action that was
completed before another action or event in the past.
Examples : Tom had been eating an apple.
Boys had been eating an apple.

Sub + had + been + Vb- ing

 FUTURE TENSE
This is when an event has not taken place yet.
Simple Future Tense
 Will and be + going + to are often used to describe future actions.
 The simple present and present progressive are also used to express future
time. These are often used in connection with schedules.
Examples : Tom will eat an apple.
Tom shall eat an apple.
Sub + will/ shall + present tense of Vb
Future Continuous Tense
 This tense is used to describe an event or action that will occur over a
period of time at a specific point in the future.
Examples : Tom will be eating an apple.
Tom shall be eating an apple.
Sub + will/ shall + be + Vb- ing

Future Perfect Tense

 This tense is used to describe an event or action that will be completed
before another event or time in the future.
Examples : Tom will have eaten an apple.
Tom shall have eaten an apple.
Sub + will/ shall + have + PP of Verb

Future Perfect Continuous Tense

 This tense describes an action that has been in progress for duration of
time before another event or time in the future.
Examples : Tom will have been eating an apple.
Tom shall have been eating an apple.
