This program was meant as medium or education trip for us as this not merely a visit
for the purpose of completing our project but also to edify us about the less fortunate people
around that we tend to ignore. This visit also was used as a basic kind of program to open our
self ignorance in oneself , this is because sometimes when we have for ourselves we tend to
feel too comfortable and take for granted people around us who less opportune. Indeed, this
program also meant to instil the sense of responsibilities in each group member and to
enliven one¶s thinking about sense of morality. This is because, morality is one thing that not
all people have, and morality was something that we cannot nurture, yet it is ones awareness

Arrived RTK 9 a.m. in the morning, it was a bright atmosphere due to RTK is near to
Titiwangsa Lake. For a everyday morning view for a place like this, we can see people are
doing recreational activities such as jogging and many more. Moreover, it is Saturday, where
most of people are enjoying their day off and take the opportunities enjoying leisure activities
with family. Done with a little ponder outside RTK, I started join the group meeting.
Outside RTK gate, we gathered there and explained briefly about out activities by our
elected leader, sister Hazirah. Basic thing that I know was that house is for female shelter,
and I¶m the only male in that group. After that, we are invited to enter the house by the
house¶s head supervisor, that we call ibu. Honestly, for me it was a very gloomy feeling
entering that house and saw the child about 3 years old that live without her family. It
reminds me of the view outside the house earlier. It is a view of family enjoying their
weekend happily. Besides, it reminds me of how lucky I am to have a family, to have the
most precious gift that is mother and father. Deep inside, I felt touched to imagine how life
would be for these children as they have to stay put and be strong, continuing their life with
Seriously, when I met them, there was something in their eyes that showed how
wretched they were. First time came meet them eyes to eyes, I was quite nervous as they

was arranged about fifty chairs in front of house that never been touched before. It takes
about half and hour before me start to enter the pool to remove the water as well as clean it
with two other friends. It is an adventure task for me before two additional friends help us.

With a quite big size of pool, I found it really hard to clean badminton sized pool with a
After that, we had been asked by one of the resident to stop the work and continue
indoor cleaning work by helping other friends inside. About an hour later, the entire task has
been completed by all the division. We take a short rest as well as clean ourself. Then, we
had a short conversation with the head supervisor before she invited us to have some

During the visit, I pay more consideration to their behaviour and conduct as they were
with the caretaker and also with their friends, from the surveillance I made, I relate that to
Kohlberg moral development as to analyse more about the behaviour of these children.
Basically, Kohlberg based his ideas of moral reasoning on Piaget's moral reasoning
and morality of cooperation. He described three main levels with two stages in each level.
They are:
y
1. punishment-obedience orientation

Taken into account all aspects from my observation, I found that the first level of
very much related to these children. As I can see, these children were all obedient as they
listen and never say no for any instruction given by their caretaker. Even though I can see that
they are not pleased to do the chores, but they do that anyway. I believe that it is much related
to punishment-obedient stage because they have set on their mind that they have to obey to
every rule and instruction so that they won¶t be punished for bad behaviour or for not
listening to the instruction. Besides, it can be understood that students were already

personal reward orientation in Level one of this stage concerned with what I understood the
children¶s understand that if they show good behaviour and do not act naughty, they will be
rewarded and most important not be punished. For these kids here, punishment is something
that freak them out and of all the things, the tried their best to avoid punishment. So here, the
moral development of children were evolved when they have clear understanding with the
Besides, another thing that I observe is in term conventional morality that deals with
of good boy-nice girl orientation and law and order orientation. Here, I can see that the
concept of good boy-girl orientation has been practice. This is term of dealing with their
activity and responsible as one of the residents there. One of the girl said that she was so
happy when the caretaker be concerned about her, spoil her in any way and indeed she said
that she will do anything to make sure she appears to be good quality and nice girl in
everywhere. That¶s she can get attention and affection from the caretaker. So here, these
c
children learn to behave in good manner so that they will get every attention from caretaker
and try avoid making problem as f it can cause the anger of the caretaker. Furthermore, in
order to be good girl or good boy, they are already attached with the concept of law and order
orientation. Basically, all children here already know the rules and regulations they have to
follow. The thing that are permissible and things that are impermissible, so based on that they
In Post conventional level, it can be said that these children was already exposed to
what known as universal ethical principle orientation, this can be seen throughout this visit as
they have actually care for each other which shows that they possessed a good moral conduct.
Besides, part of the learning here, the moral development has been instilled and planted in
