GEARS
n Gears are tooth wheels used to transmit power and motion at a
constant ratio from one rotating shaft to another by means of a
positive contact of successively engaging teeth.
n Compared with V-belts and chain drives, gear drives are more
compact and can operate at a higher speed. It also provides
precise timing of motion.
n In agricultural machineries gears are commonly used in
transmission drives for tractors, self propelled combines, power
tiller, and many others.
