Nowadays, academic and physical education plays important roles in many universities. Some schools start investing more
money in sports and athletic facilities than libraries. Others point out that people should spend more money on on campus
libraries. Administrators should use the money on sports accessories to enable students to improve their health and control the
budget on campus libraries which are sometimes not really necessary.
Z

Firstly, when more money is given to sports, students can improve both physical and mental states. As a matter of fact, they can
easily encounter many diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure. On the other hand, if schools spend more money on
a

athletes, students will feel more attracted to sports and start to take part in it to keep fit. According to a research, when a
student's muscle moves, it generates IGF-1 in the bloodstream, then converts into BDNF and makes the student smarter. For
b

example, a group of students in Illinois were tested to have a specialized test after exercising. The result showed that they had
higher points than the one without taking exercise. On the other hand, students’ mental health can be enhanced with sports.
a

In other words, they can play sports for fun and create new friends. As a result, they can not only decrease the stress at school,
but also improve some social skills they don’t have. The library, nevertheless, is a place where students should keep quiet
n

and study, so they may not have the ability to meet new people. This leads to the boost of mental illness that can affect
students’ life. Take the students in an advanced school as an example. Because of the numerous loads of work, they have to
E

take a PE class so that their mind can be loosen.

x

Furthermore, in some situations, investing money in the library is not obligatory. Some students choose to study in the library
because they have no other places. In fact, due to the advancement of life services , students will be given dorms full of
a

equipment and space for their convenience in studying. This leads to the waste in investing on the facilities in the library such
as chairs, tables, or computers since fewer students will use them.. Hiring books is no longer a reason why students come to
m

the library. Instead of hiring from the librarian and remembering the date to return the books, students today can access many
different courses, books online with some clicks onto a school website or e-libraries. It helps students save time from travelling
and waiting in line at librarian desks. For instance, I can reach a great number of the SAT practice tests on many pages like
.c

KhanAcademy, Reddit,... Instead of going to the library to borrow and print them out, I can download them immediately right
in my study room.
o

Although some students use the library to stay focused on learning, it is a better idea to fund more money on sports and athletes.
m

The health improvement and the unnecessity of funding the library are the critical reasons why administrators should spend
money on sports
