INTRODUCTION
Entrepreneurship plays a vital role not only in building an economic stability to

nation’s wealth but also bringing sustainability to the lives of every individual in the

community. Entrepreneurship is not also merely about founding a business for the sake

of profit. It is the execution of innovative ideas that are centered on improving various

social concerns. In the present, students may become future entrepreneurs of the

country; they are now far more likely to have to create their own employment. Students

will go into a constantly changing world that will require flexibility, creativity,

collaboration, and the nimbleness to adapt to rapid change (www.gettingsmart.com).

There are numerous entrepreneurship schools in the Philippines that are ready to lend a

helping hand to aspiring entrepreneurs, plus the wisdom and insights they provide are

more than enough to guarantee total enlightenment on this particular business aspect

Entrepreneurship is crucial from individual, social and economic perspectives.

The enterprising individual is typically considered to be an energetic, detail-oriented

person who is organised and optimistic. The enterprising individual is interested in

innovation and continually seeks out innovation, as well as being eager to acquire

knowledge and initiate change. Thus, enterprising individuals benefit their communities

because they perform different social roles and engage in activities that benefit other

community members such as charitable and social activities, and the employment

opportunities such activity will entail.

In the Philippines, entrepreneurship is viewed as important to empowering the

poor, enhancing production, and as an impetus to innovation. The 1987 Philippine

Constitution recognizes entrepreneurship as an engine of economic growth. Article XII

Section 1 highlights the role of private enterprises in supporting equitable distribution of

income and wealth, sustaining production of goods and services and expanding

productivity, therefore raising the quality of life (Evangelista, 2011).

Choosing the path of entrepreneurship requires a willingness to take on

calculated risks. According to OpenStax.org (2012), one approach in minimizing

personal financial risk are some startup entrepreneurs continue with their current

employment while working on the side to develop their idea into a venture that

eventually will generate an income.

Until the venture requires near full-time work and generates income, maintaining an

outside income works well for many entrepreneurial teams.

With the aim of identifying the determinants of entrepreneurial interest of

students, the researcher got interested in testing the entrepreneurial intention and

capabilities of students as basis for enhancement. Thus, this is the intent of this study to

provide insights on the context of entrepreneurial capabilities of students.
