How Do You Use This Module?

In this module, you are required to go through a series of activities in order to

complete each training outcome. In each learning outcome are Specific Learning
Outcomes, Discussions, Self-Assessments, and Performance Tasks. Follow and
Professional Academy of the Philippines perform the activities on your own. If you have questions, do not hesitate to ask
for assistance from your instructor.
Remember to:
COLLEGE OF COMPUTER STUDIES  Read and understand the Specific Learning Outcome(s). These tell you
Learning Module what you should know and be able to do at the end of this module.

 Work through all the information and complete the activities in each
section.
COMPUTER PROGRAMMING 1  Read the discussions very well and complete the self-assessments.
Module I: An Overview of Computers and Programming Suggested references are included to supplement the materials provided
in this module.
 After reading every discussion, test yourself on how much you learned by
means of the Self-Assessment.
Prepared for:  Demonstrate what you learned by doing the Performance Tasks. You
must be able to apply what you have learned in another activity or in real
life situation.

Module I | An Overview of Computers and Programming 1

Introduction Lesson 1: Topic Title
This course introduces the students to the fundamentals of logic

allows the students to learn and apply the art and style of procedural
programming to solve computational problems adhering to the standards and
guidelines of documentation. It includes discussion on I/O statements, loop and
branching instructions, and creating functions and procedures. The emphasis is to
train students to design, implement, test, and debug programs intended to solve
computing problems using fundamental programming constructs.

Course Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, students are able to:

1. Design, implement, test, and debug a program based on a given

specification, that uses each of the following fundamental programming
components: (1) primitive data types, (2) basic computation, (3) simple
I/O, (4) conditional and iterative structures, (5) definition of functions and
parameter passing, and (6) recursion;
2. Trace the execution of code fragments, particularly simple cases such as
keeping track of the values of variables through a short series of
computations, including branches, loops, and method calls; and,
3. Analyze and simulate results of algorithms that may be implemented as a
solution to a given problem.
