History:

First, Japan was funded in the century VII B.C by the Emperor Jimmu, during the V and VI

was introduced the chinese calligraphy system and other chinese traditions.

Then in the XVI century, merchants from Portugal, Spain, Netherlands and England funded

Christian missions.

Then in 1549 the Spanish missioner San Francisco Javier arrived to preach the Christianism

in Japan. At the beginning of the seventeenth century, the shogunate (a Japanese title that literally

designated the "commander-in-chief for the destruction of the barbarians") became suspicious of

the Christian missions, considering them precursors of a military conquest by European forces

and, as a protection measure, ordered the closure of  Japan to all relations with the outside world

except for restricted contacts with Chinese and Dutch merchants in the city of Nagasaki, this

enclosure durated 251 years until the year 1854.

Finally, For a long period, the restored contact with the West caused changes in Japanese

society. After a strong civil conflict called Boshin War, the shogunate was forced to resign and

the power was returned to the emperor.La Restauración Meiji de 1868 inició varias reformas.

The Meiji Restoration of 1868 initiated several reforms. The feudal system was abolished and

system, along with other economic, social and military reforms that transformed Japan into a

medium-high world power.
