1. Objective 1
Students will transcribe and perform the melody of the traditional hymn ​Amazing Grace​.
2. Objective 2
Students will create a variation of the main melody of Amazing Grace.
3. Objective 3
Students will compose, and perform, an alto part/harmony to the main melody of​ Amazing Grace
following the chordal structure of the piano accompaniment.

What materials do you need to accomplish this lesson?

● Work could be done in partners.
● Lesson can be differentiated.
○ Teacher could provide audio of melody being sung on solfege to help with
transcription.
○ Teacher could transcribe the rhythm for the students using rests.
○ Teacher could begin alto harmony and have students finish the harmony.
○ Teacher could perform along with students, or students could perform in small
groups.

H. Assignments:
What must the students do after the class in preparation for the next class?
I picture these assignments being done in class so teacher can help facilitate activities, and
troubleshoot any technical issues.
