Science: Human circulatory system

o The heart is made up of muscles which contract and relaxes to

pump blood to the tissues. The heart gets some help from
blood vessels, tubes that blood flow in, the circulatory system
is made up of the heart and the blood vessels.
o Blood vessels there are two important blood vessels arteries
and veins .
Oxygenated blood and deoxygenated blood
Oxygenated blood: Oxygen diffuses from the lungs into the blood,
which makes it bright red this is bright red in color and now it has
oxygen so it is called oxygenated blood.
Deoxygenated blood : Is when oxygen diffuses into the tissues, this
means it has lost most of the oxygen. This is bluish-red in color.
The Heart
The heart is made up of muscles including four chambers which are
the upper two chambers of the and the lower two chambers of the
right and left. The left side lower chamber pumps oxygenated blood
throughout the body. The heart contains valve to prevent back fllow.
The left side of the heart contains oxygenated blood here as the
right contains deoxygenated blood.
The Heart circulates blood:

Vein transports blood from the rest

o The heart is located under the ribs slightly to the left side of the
chest. The heart is always pumping blood out whether you are
tried or asleep.
o The heart is made up of muscles when it contracts it squeezes
and pumps blood out and when it relaxes it lets blood flow in.
o The heart is divided in two sides the left and the right they
both have chambers upper and lower.
o They are only different with blood the left side has
oxygenated blood whereas the right side have deoxygenated
blood.
o They both contain valves this make sure blood flows in the
right direction.

The human circulatory system starts when blood comes form

different parts of the body through the vein going into the right
upper chamber, the valves open so that blood can flow to the
lower chamber and then valves close to go up anther blood
vessel to the lungs where it picks up oxygen then comes back
through the veins to the left side and it pumps blood
throughout the body.
Blood
Blood is made up of two main things liquid and solid.
Liquid: Plasma
Solid: Red blood cell, White blood cell and platelets
Plasma: Plasma is a liquid that cells flow , it transports dissolved
substances
Red blood cells: Are unusually small cells and hundreds in
number .They are very important as they transport oxygen. They
have no nucleus; they are red in color because they contain a red
pigment called haemoglobin, when blood contains more oxygen
it combines with the haemoglobin the haemoglobin is now
called oxyhaemoglobin though when blood loses its oxygen it is
back to its original name.
White blood cells: Are a little bit bigger in size than RBC but fewer
in number than RBC, they have nucleus, white blood help to defend
against viruses and bacteria that get in the body . Some white blood
cells engulf them where as some produce sticky antibodies that kill
them.
Platelets: Are small fragments of cells that help in blood clot.

Blood vessels: Blood vessels help in the circulatory system they are
tubes that let blood flow. There are three different kinds of blood
vessels:
1. Arteries
2. Capillaries
3. Veins
Arteries they take blood away from the heart. Arteries carry
oxygenated blood expects pulmonary artery. They have thick
elastic walls to prevent the great speed that blood flows in to the
arteries.
Veins They make blood flow towards the heart. They mostly contain
deoxygenated expect the pulmonary vein; neither doesn’t have thick
and elastic walls like arteries because the blood speed is already lost
its speed. Veins have valves to prevent back flow.
Capillaries Are very tiny tupicals of one cell thick and it connects
veins and arteries.
