Symptoms

Fault F0933: "The named vlan [vlan name] for vNIC [vNIC name] cannot be resolved."

The VLAN referenced is not defined in the Fabric Interconnects or the vNIC templates

On a rare occasion, this fault is observed even after confirming that the VLAN is not defined in the FI's or the vNIC templates

Solution

Step 1: Verify that the VLAN is not present in the Fabric Interconnects (this example uses VLAN 45):

GUI:

https://na95.salesforce.com/console 1/9
6/12/2020 External Page - Console

CLI:

1. SSH to the UCS:

#connect nx os

#show vlan

Step 2: Verify that the VLAN is not present in the vNIC template:

https://na95.salesforce.com/console 2/9
6/12/2020 External Page - Console

Step 3: Verify that the VLAN is not present in the servers' vNIC(s):

https://na95.salesforce.com/console 3/9
6/12/2020 External Page - Console

Step 4: Verify that you CAN see the VLAN in the 'VLANs' tab for the servers' vNIC(s) (VLAN ID will be VLAN ID 1):

https://na95.salesforce.com/console 4/9
6/12/2020 External Page - Console

To workaround this issue there are two options:

1. Unbind, then rebind the vNIC to the vNIC template

2. Remove the VLANs from the individual vNICs using UCS CLI:

1. #scope org

2. #scope service-profile [SP name]

3. #scope vnic [vNIC name]

4. #show eth-if detail (Take note of the VLAN name(s) that should be removed)

5. #delete eth-if [VLAN name]

6. #commit-buffer

7. Verify: #show eth-if detail
